I don't think enough people have picked up on the fact that post Canon Shen Qingqiu is always at least partly contemplating attic wifeing Binghe but doesn't because Bingpup need walkies to burn off energy (run an empire and fight shit) or else he starts metaphorically gnawing his fur off with anxiety

And meanwhile Binghe would like to attic wife Shen Qingqiu but doesn't because Shen Qingqiu needs socialisation (be a peak lord and meet friends) or else he gets depressed

So they both begrudgingly allow the other one freedom because it's for the other persons mental well being but have to hide away for like at least a week just the two of them afterwards to recover

Consider: Fem!Shen Yuan transmigrating in to a reverse harem drama loosely based on Cinderella.

Naturally Shen Yuan ends up as the "evil" stepmom, Shen Qingqiu.

From Shen Yuan’s perspective, all she does differently from the original goods is offer a tiny bit of comfort when Binghe’s father dies, and she acts grateful instead of bitchy while making Binghe do all the household chores.

(Shen Yuan also buys "the household" top tier quality cooking implements, a great variety of cook books, and every rare ingredient and spice she remembers Binghe coveting… not to mention privately punishing the step-siblings whenever they're nasty, and "covertly" slipping Binghe all sorts of high quality but plain looking gifts… but those things surely don’t mean much.)

‘Somehow’ this results in Binghe being super territorial about chores, and not giving two shits about any of the handsome bachelor love interests. Not even the prince! In fact, Binghe is insistent on being both Shen Qingqiu’s cook and her personal maid, and seems weirdly eager to get her step siblings married off as soon as possible.

Binghe just wants everyone out of the house, and out of her hair, so she can enact her 12 step stepmother seduction plan in peace!

A concept:

SQH is forced to reveal the system and/or his status as a transmigrator, due to a truth serum or whatever other convenient plot device. I HIGHLY doubt MBJ would just pass this knowledge on to LBH, especially if LBH didn’t ask—and how on earth would he think to ask??

So instead, I think at least part of it happens with LBH around. He watches SQH have a meltdown over being revealed, spewing nonsense about writing a book and then waking up inside it. He doesn’t even need to catch the entire mess, only fragments of it—enough to understand that it’s possible to jump from one world to the next, to end up in a world you already know.

And he starts wondering. Thinking about someone else he knows who has always known too much and brushed it off by claiming he read it in some book or another that Binghe can’t confirm exists. And though SQH appears to have found himself in this world as a child, who’s to say that’s the only possibility? His shizun’s personality changed suddenly and drastically, and he has no memories of his shizun having such startlingly extensive knowledge before that event.

What happens then depends on when this takes place: if it’s post-canon, he probably corners SQH to ask, and is smug about threatening him, then cradles the knowledge he receives close to his chest. Whether he brings this to his shizun is hard to tell, but he’d definitely carry himself with a light, happy air. Knowing that his shizun has always been kind to him and always loved him is simply euphoric. SQQ might notice him acting different and ask him about it, which might lead to a conversation—where SQQ is terrified at first, but relieved and simply relaxed by the end. He truly doesn’t mind being Shen Qingqiu and living what is technically a lie, but it’s… lovely to let his guard down a little around his husband, even if by this point “Shen Qingqiu” is no longer a mask he has to hide behind.

(Being post-canon is also fun because binghe can think back to the mausoleum and go “wow. maybe this should have been obvious.”)

Alternatively, I LOVE the idea that this happens earlier, during the 5 years where SQQ is dead. Rather than excitement and giddiness at solving a puzzle and figuring out more about his beloved, Binghe feels only grief and a slow horror as the pieces fall into place.

Maybe he still doesn’t know why his shizun pushed him into the abyss, but if none of the abuse he suffered was actually at his hands, if shizun truly was only ever kind to him… at the least he can begin to understand why his shizun might have sacrificed himself for him.

When he corners SQH this time, it’s with real anger, laced with fear and regret. SQH’s panicked answers give him enough information to piece together that SQQ likely didn’t have a choice in pushing him into the abyss.

So he wallows. His beloved never once tried to hurt him, was always kind to him and protected him. Likely knew he would escape the abyss alive. And he repaid that with threats and coercion, and drove his shizun to his death.

Years later, when he is in a dream and suddenly realises that his shizun is real, he doesn’t slowly smirk and begin to plot. He instead falls to his knees, gripping tightly to his shizun’s clothing and sobbing—much to SQQ’s confusion. But, still slightly numb with the whiplash of being kissed clumsily without warning and then suddenly cried on by a man he’s convinced is going to kill him, all SQQ can do is gently pat his disciple’s head.

Fine, this may be a conspiracy theory, but does anyone else thinks that after seeing the popularity of the non-canon ships in the scum villain fandom MXTX decided to write her next protagonist to be completely isolated on purpose? Because that has been on my mind a lot. Like, it's a fact that she hates it when people ship her MCs with anyone other than their canon love interest, MXTX wrote her first book with an MC that had a long list of people who adored him and were willing to die to protect him in-work, people ate it up, she noticed that a great part of the fandom ships her MC with basically anyone, she hates it, but no matter what she says the ships keep going, then she writes her next book. In that work her MC is a charming, popular cultivator, who suffers a terrible fall from grace and by the end of it he's lost pretty much everything from his past, except his canon love interest. Even if we take away all the love, respect and adoration Wangxian has towards each other it's pretty clear by the end of MDZS that Lan Wangji is the only one left for Wei Wuxian, everyone else is either dead, distant or just hates him

Bingqiu headcanons I have:

- Shen Qingqiu gives Luo Binghe kisses on his demon mark whenever he gets the chance

- Shen Qingqiu really wants to give the autistic bite of affection to people he likes which causes him to stare at them intensely as he resists. He looks horny/angry and in reality he just wants to affectionately gnaw on them but has to keep his image so can't

- related to above he does give Luo Binghe sleepy bites when he's very sleepy and/or fucked out and doesn't realise and Binghe loves it

- he can never top Binghe the way Binghe does him because it's too much but when Binghe learns what a power bottom is he rides Shen Qingqiu until he's dry

- Luo Binghe has to trick/talk Shen Qingqiu into visiting his friends because he knows Shen Qingqiu needs enrichment despite what Shen Qingqiu says

- on the flip side whenever Shen Qingqiu encounters a new "wife" he seriously thinks about attic wifeing Binghe but then Binghe couldn't cook for them so he abandons the notion

He does get Airplane to manipulate them away from Binghe though

- Shen Qingqiu enjoys sex because he likes being intimate and close to Luo Binghe but it's not his preferred form of intimacy and he's largely ambivalent to it even when they get good at it. His favourite is when they do each others hair or when they have a non sexy bath together

- Binghe has a tier list of people he likes near or alone with Shen Qingqiu and Yue Qingyuan is up at the top because he is a pushover

- Binghe is actually more accepted then he thinks. Liu Qingge keeps wanting to fight him but he's making Shen Qingqiu happy and no one wants him dead or gone forever really

- Ning YingYing and him have a cordial relationship that develops into mutual respect and an almost friendship when he's on the Mountain. She makes him help the kids in their training and judges him the entire time but he passes the test

- Shang Qinghua and Binghe become friends much to everyone's confusion

- Mobei and Shen Qingqiu get captured enough times together (Mobei is "captured" as a form of flirting with his husband) that they form a book club

- Moshang visit often because they all get along

- Shen Qingqiu likes to read to Binghe who loves it

- Shen Qingqiu also infodumps about monsters and loses all his peak lord mannerisms as he gets excited and starts to stim happily

- he did this when Binghe lived with him when he was a disciple but does more now and it's something Binghe loves deeply and cherishes about Shen Qingqiu

- Binghe makes Shen Qingqiu stim toys. He just calls them silly trinkets and Shen Qingqiu thinks it's something about Binghe missing out on his childhood or having an odd taste in decor because he's a demon. But no it's just that Binghe likes watching Shen Qingqiu play with them and get happiness from the different textures and sounds

He got the idea from Mobei who he noticed him passing things like that to Shang Qinghua when he got nervous in court. It had been Shang Qinghua's idea initially

- Shen Qingqiu gets upset if Binghe is away for longer then a shichen and starts acting bereft and widowed until Binghe shows up
