kelp is like
a plan't
these fuckers stole the plant photosynthesis thing by swallowing a plant cell and making it work for them inside their own cells, and now they act like they're plants too (they're not even closely related)
don't feel bad for plants they did the same with cyanobacteria first

Daily fish fact #500
🎉🐟🎊500 daily fish facts reached! 🎊🐟🎉
And I could not have done it without you.
🐟🐟🐟 Thank you. 🐟🐟🐟
From the bottom of my ranch-filled heart.
Perhaps this much celebration is already enough, let's move onto the actual fact...
General fish fact!
The very first animals that could be considered fish appeared around 500 million years ago, during the Cambrian period. They've been evolving and diversifying ever since! With 35 000 discovered extant species and counting, there are more species of fish than there are species of mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians combined.

I swear I have read your big post regarding Peter Parker's neurodivergence and why it is best to avoid labelling him, but he definitely has a weird brain
Can't find it and feel kinda sad about it cuz I deeply related to it
i know exactly which post you're talking about and i can't find it either! i've raked through my archive, and it's just - nowhere to be seen. i think tumblr eated it (it happens.)
really, tumblr's search functionality is so so useless, i don't know what to tell you. there are plenty of keywords i can search to find it that post, but the search functionality actually just does not work!
undiagnosed audhd-addled peter parker, my darling, my light, my life, my everything.
i think peter parker's such an interesting creature to write, because a lot of people will point to a certain behaviour about him and say "this is an autistic thing, right?" but a lot of those behaviours are actually, in my head, tied to certain traumas in peter's life too.
people say "oh, the food thing, peter's a picky eater because he's autistic" and yes, absolutely. but also it's tied to his trauma with his parents.
peter gets overstimulated, and yes, it's an autism thing, but also he was bitten by a radioactive spider and his senses are dialled to 11.
it's a similar case i've found for myself, too – where a lot of friends i have kind of diagnose me because i have autistic traits, but actually - i'm hesitant to claim the label or pursue diagnosis because, actually, i know where these certain behaviours come from, and they come from certain traumas. there are events i can pinpoint in my life and say "yep. that's where this behaviour comes from."
so - i think there's a lot of overlap between trauma and autistic traits. the brain is very complex! i think the reason for that overlap is maybe as simple as the fact that people with autism and people with trauma are both doing the same thing - developing behaviours to protect themselves or soothe themselves. so - i think it's nice to be able to see a character like peter parker, who may or may not be autistic, but recognise behaviours in him and see yourself in him.
people who go undiagnosed for whatever reason - people who are really good at masking - so good, in fact, that they have no idea they might be on the spectrum - everyone and anyone at all can look at peter parker and recognise themselves. because i think we discredit the thought that every single brain does the same thing! develops certain behaviours in order to survive. every brain has that same software - we've just all been faced with different hardships that we need to overcome, and that's were all the differences come in.
autism is a spectrum, i guess - everyone falls into it to some degree. and i think events in your life probably push you along on it. but i don't know, i didn't study brain science. probably what i'm saying is very stupid and uninformed. of course there's brain chemistry involved. but i know people in my life living with autism and certain events in their life have exacerbated certain behaviours or made coping with it a lot more difficult. so maybe trauma is a catalyst.

Calling all science students and enthusiasts!!
I would absolutely love to have a science-revolving passion project and I’ve narrowed it down to a blog/blog-type-website. I love learning about science but so rarely take the time to actually research the things that interest me. With being a high school student, exams and life this is quite a big task to handle for 1 person and I’d love others to contribute to this!
This is by no means a set plan yet, I’m just sharing a rough idea, so if you could please interact with this post or dm me if you would be interested in something of this kind. Even if you see this 5 months after this was posted (and hopefully a working project or at least WIP) still reach out if you’re interested.
You don’t have to be a great writer for this either nor fascinated about each and every science. My favourite is chemistry, but it would be nice if this project could incorporate the 3 main branches of science: biology, chemistry and physics. It depends on if people would be interested in reading something like this or participating in, and their preferred subjects. You could write about astronomy as a whole, or go into chemistry and analysing electronic configuration, talking about your favourite dinosaur bones in palaeontology, a passive behaviour analysis in psychology, or explaining how exactly scabs work in biology. These would probably be short to mid-length entries and 1/2 times a month.
But this is just my idea and how far I’ve gone with it, feedback is appreciated, there will be more updates to come (not too many until afer my exams in May tho), and I appreciate any reblogs to share this idea with others!
Hopefully a couple people would like to help out in this project and please ask questions if you have any (as a dm or ask) ^^

The sapient species of Enith. I want to do individual posts for each species, but idk when I’d get around to that.
Corldaxians (pronounced Corl-dax-ee-ans) are the most common, and are certainly the ones that have the easiest time in space. Kielni (kee-el-nee) are also very common, and many space stations- though not as many spaceships- are made to fit them. For most of Enith’s history Kielni regularly hunted Corldaxians. Both inhabited the same islands, both used the large rainforest plants as shelter, and Common Corldaxians are the right size to be easy prey for Kielni. Needless to say the social and religious repercussions of this are wild. Radraki Corldaxians were also hunted by Kielni, if less often, due to Radrakis living mostly in plains and Kielni preferring rainforests.
Taysya (Tay-s-yah) are the largest of the space-fairing species, and didn’t regularly hunt any other sapient species on Enith. They were mostly oceanic, flying long distances like albatross, so they fed on primarily fish. They did spend time on land, but did so mostly in the deserts of the drier islands. This, combined with their strange language, made them a mystery to the other sapients until well into the final dark ages. Present-day they are dramatically better known, with some Taysya-class ships and space stations allowing them to travel the stars with their sibling sapients.
Tarahsit (t-air-rah-sit) sure do exist. They’re entirely oceanic, so they are unable to join the others in space. They’re isolation and their languages being even stranger than the Taysya’s made them virtually unknown as sapient until even after the final dark ages. But today they are fairly well documented, and are included in Enithian society to the extent that they can be.
There is… another species that is currently being debated as sapient. But five sapient species coming out of Enith is already ridiculous, how could there be sixth?

Daily fish fact #390
Lemon shark!
They form complex social groups and bonds with other lemon sharks! They tend to form groups based on sex and age, though young sharks like to associate with bigger sharks as well: this way they can learn the ins and outs of their environment and all the prey and predators that live there!

Bred by accident as in she didn't realize they were in the same egg group and didn't realize. I guess they didn't breed by accident but we didn't expect it. Wrong wording on my part. Oops
Also Arcanine is the mom, Lechonk is the dad
Ahh, okay.
Pokemon Crossbreeds: Pighound
Not to be confused with the Hoghound breed of Houndoom, Pighound is the name for Growlithe/Arcanine with Lechonk/Oinkologne fathers. The breed was named after the fact that Oinkologne are pigs and Arcanine being Hounds. They've mostly been used by farmers to guard livestock since they're friendlier, and Oinkologne are less likely to fear them.
Growlithe
Pighound Growlithe gain a brown color scheme and floppy wars. Their stripes become smoother and resemble dirt or mud, as well as the eye patterns of Lechonk. They're fatter and very friendly to humans, and this breed is a popular pet in Paldea.
Arcanine
Male Female
Pighound Arcanine have less fluff (more prominent with Kantonian Arcanine), curved tails, and the eye patterns of Oinkologne. They're also fatter. Like stated before, they're friendlier and are a popular breed with Oinkologne fathers. While they look more muted, their fire abilities are just as strong snd shouldn't be underestimated. They release a slight aroma from their fur, but it isn't as strong as Oinkologne's.
//My designs can be used by anyone if you credit me for the original design!
