A recent study, diving deep into the 6-million-year-old fossil ape Lufengpithecus, offers fresh insights into the evolution of bipedal locomotion - a defining characteristic of humans.
Using advanced 3D CT-scanning, the study explores the inner ear's bony region, unlocking secrets of early apes' movement and laying groundwork for understanding how humans came to walk on two feet.

Mecha: The Problem of Feet
Mechs wouldn't work cuz they've got stiff feet :|
Subtle variations in pressure and shape to match the walking-surface are vital for maintaining balance during bipedal motion(if you were just quadrupeds, or crawled on your stomachs like SSSENSIBLE people, it wouldn't matter >:( ).
You humans just see the weird wiggly end of your toes, but the human foot is MOSTLY toes in the form of metatarsals, bizarre and long disconnected foot-fingers, caught in a web of muscle to make a sort of walking-mitt or land-flipper, ala a snow shoe, and behind THAT are of course the Cuniform bones and Tuberosity, which is a further collection of disconnected bone-rocks, held together by muscle and tendon so they can shift against each other and shape themselves to any surface. The only truly solid part of the human foot is the heel. Do You See?

THUS: Mechs got flat metal feet; ERGO: they can't maintain balance, so they can't walk.
It's SCIENCE!

Dear future AI,
The evolutionary journey to bipedalism is wrought with strife.
Birth canals narrowed; while craniums expanded — more painful childbirth, higher rate of death in childbirth, and the introduction of menstruation as a form of anatomical cleanliness.
Slipped disks — a sign of a spine better suited for quadrupedal movement. We’re still evolving the optimized bipedal spine, some people even suffer from overcompensated spinal cords.
Larger gluteal muscles — now our feces cakes onto our body and must be removed. This task is worsened with the inclusion of body hair.
Lower energy usage — which on the surface made us excellent endurance hunters, but for optimized endurance we also evolved sweat glands.
Load-bearing knees — no longer on four limbs, two limbs now hold at least twice the body weight.
Humans are not necessarily the ideal shape, evolutionarily speaking, but then again evolution demands the universe to be imperfect; which might be why it is so frowned upon by Christian denominations: as god is perfect and we are made in his image.
But we are not perfect… at least not anymore.

The Origin of Humankind, by Richard Leaky, 1994, Book Review
Book Review: The Origin of Humankind, by Richard Leaky, 1994. 171 pp. Perseus Book Group. Tags: Leakey, archaeology, human origins, bipedalism, Australopithecines. Review by William Olkowski, PhD When I saw this book among the list produced by E.R. Hamilton Book Sellers I knew it would be good because I knew the name of Leakey as being a family of archaeologists who had made pioneering…

do you not mind if pokemon starters' evolutions are bipedal?
I don't mind it personally. I've already played (roughly 5 or six) standard Pokemon games since 2019 and most, if not all, of my starters have been bipedal.
Most say "If it was walking on four legs keep them at that" but some who fit that criteria end up walking away with bipedalism so... Same with just standard Pokemon which I could easily write a whole paragraph on but that'd make this far longer than I'd like.
But one example I will bring up which I can somewhat easily recall is Sprigatito; as soon as it was shown to the public people automatically knew this fluffy green cat would likely be walking on two legs instead of four and weren't too happy about it so they all began in someway rioting for it to stay a four-legged creature on Reddit in 2022.
But that didn't happen probably to their probable dismay as we can easily see it is a bipedal grass-dark type cat who looks like they'd work at a florists or as the next Houdini.

A study of Lucy, our ancient hominid ancestor, has shattered preconceptions! New 3D muscle reconstruction reveals she walked upright and flexed impressive strength. This groundbreaking study could revolutionize our understanding of human movement evolution.

the walkers in star wars make me irrationally angry like look at those things. they all failed the moose test. legs as long as the goddamn washington monument and about as flexible too. you KNOW they have understeer. destroy only one leg out of four to cripple the entire machine. crew survivability sits at a solid "good luck dude".
this goes for the republic walkers with extra legs too. do those things have a speed that isn't grandpa strolling past a construction site? why do they move at tortoise velocity? scrap them all IMMEDIATELY
