DadMight seeing Deku after the war arc,#4,some tasty angst of Deku wanting to pass One for All to Mirio, and a talk about Nana :)
OH OKIE YEAH YEAH YEAAAAH I CAN DO THAT
4. a hug after not seeing someone for a long time
“Thank you for letting me come to see him.”
Inko smiled at the tall man, lips curling up past the drag of stress and exhaustion.
“I know how much you care about my son, All Might. He’ll be happy to see you. If either of you need anything, just give me a call. I shouldn’t be gone more than an hour.”
Two long, blonde strands flopped at his cheeks as Yagi nodded.
“Yes, of course. Thank you again, Inko. Really.”
-
At the older man’s entrance into the room, Izuku made no attempt to wipe the tears from him cheeks. It was a silent cry, but it gave enough away to have Yagi racing forward until he reached his successor’s bedside.
“My boy, what’s wrong? Are you in pain?”
Izuku turned away, forcing his eyes to trail after the nicks and notches that decorated the wall.
“All M-might...”
“Young Midoriya... Izuku, please.Talk to me. Are you alright?”
“I... I got to talk to Aizawa-sensei today. After his physical therapy appointment, he came to see me.”
Yagi nodded at that, timid but hopeful. He had talked to Shouta as well and received his own run down on how things were going. Despite the circumstances, the other teacher had been in high spirits, voice lighter than Yagi had heard it since before the war.
I’m just grateful to still be here, Yagi. I get to see Eri and Hizashi everyday, I’ll get to teach my kids again soon... I couldn’t ask for more than that.
Yagi understood that better than anyone. The relief after the battle ends. The realization: I’m still alive, after the injuries have been dressed. He knew the feeling all too well.
And he feared Izuku, at the young age of sixteen, was becoming familiar with it, too.
“Well that’s good, my boy! Did you enjoy seeing him?”
Finally, glistening green eyes met glowing blue. Yagi hated what stared back at him.
“All Might. Sensei’s eyes, his leg... I did that! How could I enjoy seeing him like that when it’s my fault?”
Yagi swallowed around a cough, forcing the rush of blood down until he could manage to speak again.
“Izuku, listen-”
“No, no All Might! You don’t understand! Nighteye was right. This quirk, your training, it’s all been wasted on me. I mean, Sensei... he’s just... And Gran Torino too! It’s not enough that you lost your master already, I took the only other mentor you had away from you. He died because of me, because I wasn’t good enough! How can you even stand to be around me when I—“
“Izuku,” Yagi’s voice was loud, ringing out enough to shake the walls, to puncture through the fog of Izuku’s hysteria, “my boy, please. None of this is your fault; I can promise you that. You did more than I, or anyone, have any right to ask of you so please, do not blame yourself.”
Second of silence passed between them before Izuku was overwhelmed. A loud sniffle rung out, paining Yagi enough for him to feel the throb in the wound at his side.
“My boy, come here please. It’s alright; we’re going to be okay.”
Izuku folded into his arms easily, still so fragile and small. The boy wiped tears and snot into the shoulder of Yagi’s t-shirt with every jerk of his head. Still, Yagi held him close, cradling his head like one would a baby. Like a hero would his successor. Like a teacher would his student.
A father, his son.
When he felt a whisper press into the crook of his neck, where Izuku had settled, Yagi pushed the boy away just slightly. He wanted to hear him.
“What was that, Izuku?”
“You could still... Mirio, he still doesn’t have his quirk back and if you wanted him to have it... I would give it to him. It’d probably be better than way, I mean, Mirio, he-”
“Is a young man with great potential. He will continue to do amazing things in the future, I believe. But I already have a successor, Izuku. I’m positive that I made the right choice.”
Izuku was struck by a thought: The First User and Nana... they said the same thing... So why does it feel like I’m still failing?

What is your thought on Bakugou redemption arc,do you think it's good,or it's bad writting in some aspects?
Thanks for the question, @birekuden.
There are just to many things to say but anyway, lets start. I will talk about why i dont like the way story portrayed Bakugou in another post, here, i will talk about Deku and Bakugou’s relationship.
Bnha is a story about abuse. In hero society, there is a system that support abuse & violence and many people are victim of this system. Narrative also shows how much wrong it is.
Bakugou is also abuse victim and victim of system, just like others. Yeah, maybe his mother loves him but still, the way her mother treats him is abuse.
Also the way society treats Bakugou is the reason Bakugou is like this. Bakugou has very toxic mind, it hurts both himself and others.
We already know Deku and Bakugou’s past. Bakugou literally abused Deku for years.
After entering UE, that degree of abuse started to decrease cause people started to calling Bakugou out.
Then, after Deku vs Bakugou part 2, it decrease more cause Allmight told them to work together but like i said, it decreased, it didnt disappear.
His abusive behaviours still continues. He still hurts Deku, whether with words or phsical.
Its not just even towards Deku, to others too. Bakugou’s abusive behaviours scares Fuyumi, an another abuse victim.
This cant be excused with ‘Bakugou being Bakugou’ cause Bakugou has toxic mindset.
And another example;
Uraraka says that Bakugou didnt have to use his quirk to educate Deku and Bakugou’s excuse is; Deku didnt have anything wrong with it.
This is an excuse, just because someone didnt warn you, it doesnt mean that its ok to hurt that person.
If Bakugou wanted, he could simply reject it but it didnt cause he has no problem with hrting Deku. He literally acts like he has no choice, even though he himself chose it.
And yes, Bakugou finally understands he did something wrong. But thats it. He doesnt see how his abusive behaviours affected Deku.
He didnt face with what he did, thats why the way he treats Deku didnt change in core.
When he remembers the past, he remembers Deku as faceless.
We saw this scene twice. From Dekus’s perspective, Deku is trembling and scared, its like he is fighrting against monsters.
From Bakugou’s perspective, Deku is faceless, he is not scared, he has no emotions. This is the proof that Bakugou didnt face with what he did to Deku. He doesnt even see how his behaviours hurted Deku.
Even when he protects Deku, he mostly thinks one for all. Its like Deku is now worthy cause he has one for all but qurikless Deku has no worthy cause he was born quirkless. They still didnt get over this mindset.
Just like how Endeavour didnt truly faced with what he did. They both are changing but only on surface.
Abusive behaviours continues. Reason is main problem with Bakugou isnt solved. The mindset that support violence is the main problem and thats why both Bakugou and Endeavour’s abuse arent resolved.
Of course, their sitution is not same. Bakugou is a kid and Endeavour is an adult. But i think their arc parallels with each other so i will talk about both.
And result of this;
Bakugou is using Deku as bait, his priority isnt protecting Deku, its winning.
And both Bakugou and Endeavour destroys Shigaraki, the main abuse victim in story. Shigaraki is Deku, he is Shouto, he is Touya, he is symbolise every victim in story. Ironic that two ‘old’ abusers are killing another abuse victim.
(Extra; The idea of they have no choice is ridicilous cause Shigaraki tried to talk but heroes didnt bother to listen.)
Not just abusers didnt face with what they did but also, abuse victims also dont confront with past.
Its not that Deku forgive Bakugou. In reality, Deku didnt face with what happenned to him. I mean, Deku is self destructive, he is someone who breaks himself again and again so no wonder, he didnt mind what Bakugou did cause he see no worth in himself.
Deku always had unhealthy admriation towards heroes. Especially towards Bakugou. Its not that Deku chose Bakugou but mostly, society chose Bakugou cause he is naturally talented and powerfull. And Deku obeys what society, teachers, his master tell him to do.
Actually, Deku’s reaction is really realistic cause this is how abuse victim behave in real life too. Its like Deku always owes to Bakugou. He is so used to endure Bakugou’s anger that Deku really dont know how to handle another way.
But it doesnt mean that its healthy. So this is an another example from another series. Its a webtoon called ‘Random Chat’, unlike bnha, this story isnt really about abuse but full of violence.
MC and Bully were at least friends, unlike Deku and Bakugou but cause of some misunderstanding, bully started to bully MC.
But then, he found out that there is misunderstanding and he says lets forget about it.
MC struggles and think about everything happenned.
And here, look at MC’s reaction;
You cant just erase what happenned. You cant just act like nothing is wrong here.
And he is taking a right decision here, victims dont owe anything to their abusers. Yeah, maybe it was just misunderstanding and you wanna change but actions have consequences.
I am not saying that forgiveness is wrong but at least, this guy is being with honest with himself, unlike Deku.
And in that story, there was another thing.
This girl is MC’s best friend and she has feelings for bully boy but he literally gave up on her love for the sake of her friend.
See? Again, actions have consequences.
(Look at how popular ships like Kachako, Kiribaku. Like, at least, Kirishima was always Bakugou’s friend, more than Deku but Uraraka. She is not Deku’s best friend, they both have feelings for each other, unlike other story. But people say ‘its better, if she chose Bakugou’. They literally ignore everything between Deku and Uraraka, also between Deku and Bakugou. This also shows that how much story justified what Bakugou did to Deku. This is why i personally dislike this ship a lot, especially when fandom forces too much. I can write more about why this ship is terrible idea for canon and i think many things about it is so ridicilous but i really dont wanna bother with it.)
By the way, in that story, bully boy made more effort, compared to Bakugou. And thats story isnt about abuse but it was more satisfysing, compared to bnha, a story about abuse. Actually, that story wasnt good redemption soty either but main characters remind me of bakudeku relationship and it felt more satifsying, compared to bnha. I just wanted to share.
So anyway, Deku’s reaction hurts Deku’s himself, holding his anger inside of him and he acts like he owe Bakugou a lot. Like, Bakugou didnt hurt him, its Deku’s fault for making Bakugou feel like this.
And result of this;
Another symbolic scene. After seeing Bakugou’s hurt, Deku literally destroys Shigaraki. Again, remember Shigaraki is Deku. So, Deku is destroying himself for the sake of his abuser.
This is also parallel to Shigaraki's relationship with his father. Koutaro is a characher like Bakugou. Both bakugou and Koutaro are victims of abuse. They are not bad people but they hurt Deku and Tenko a lot. And just like Deku, Shigaraki has no problem with hurting himself.
But when it comes to his father, look at how much protective he is. Shigaraki both feel guitly for making his father angry but at the same time, he is full of angry for what happenned to him.
I mean, being so protective of your abuser while destroying yourself is so messed up but at the same time, tragically, thats how abuse works.
Shigaraki both destroy himself and others cause he is trapped in cycle of abuse. Deku is just like Shigaraki. Only difference is Deku’s anger didnt reach his breaking point. This is why he ignores all those hurted feelings inside of him.
Just like Fuyumi and many other abuse victims. Fuyumi didnt forgive Endeavour cause she acts like nothing happenned, reason is until now this is how she endured. She is even gratefull that Endeavour at least stopped hurting family members.
The reason Shouto didnt want to forgive his father wasnt about himself at all. It was all about his mother. When he saw his family wants to forgive, he immediately rethink about it. Also just like Deku acceps Bakugou cause society forces on him, Shouto does same. He obeys what society tells him to do.
Neither of those abuse victims dont care about what happenned to them. Deku doesnt care about himself. Fuyumi just wants family. Rei wants her family to be happy. Shouto only angry for his mother. Natsuo only angry for his brother. They even help abusers to be better people, like they owe them to.
And the only reason Shigaraki and Dabi reacts to abuse they endured is because they reached their breaking point.
(But difference between them is also Shigaraki later comes back to his abuser cause he was alone in his abuse while Dabi saw how his family was hurted so he know who is to blame pretty well.)
So coming back to your question; What do i think about Bakugou’s redemption?
Redemption is all about facing with what you did and taking responbility.
I already explained that Bakugou didnt truly faced with what he did to Deku and main problem with his behaviour didnt change so actually, Bakugou didnt get redemption. At least yet.
Maybe, Bakugou’s sacrificing himself for Deku is kina start for future, i dont know, we will see. But until this point, main problem with Bakugou’s behaviours didnt change and it wont change, until both he and Deku face with the past but they are not there yet.
Meanwhile, at least Dabi is exist to call both Endeavour and society out. Just like how Endeavour can never truly change, if he doesnt face with what he did. Same for Bakugou too.
But anyway, i dont like their relationship. Bakugou is the one who hurted and still hurts Deku but Deku is the one who make an effort in this relationship.
Even one day, Deku tells Bakugou about how he was hurted by his behaviours, still, Deku will move on past and wont force Bakugou about it. And even Bakugou change, he wont be able to do for Deku too much cause Deku already will get over past. It will never be equal relationship that the way narrative portrayed them.
I wouldnt mind, if Bakugou was just a side character but he is one of main characters, someone who is supposed to be Deku’s partner. In stories, actions have consequences. But i feel like this doesnt really happen with Bakugou. And thats the problem here.
Their relationship is unhealthy, toxic and if one day, even it changes, Deku should see his own worth and he needs to be with people who make happy. He should take a distance between himself and Bakugou. (Meanwhile, Bakugou should face with what he did, he needs to understand how much wrong violence is so he needs to be sensitive about violence, abuse and abuse victims to become a better person/character, we also need to see his geniue guilty, thats what should happen with Bakugou, eventually, i think.)
For example, Deku's partner can be Todoroki. They are both abuse victims and they have very healthy relationship.
(Only problem with their relationship is since they both dont know how to handle abuse, they give wrong advices to each others)
Or maybe his partner can be Uraraka. She is very strong girl. Just like Deku, she really wants to help people. Also, she has very heathy relationship with Deku.
So until now, i didnt like Bakugou and Deku’s relationship and the way story portrayed them together. It feels so force. Since Bakugou didnt face with what he did, there is also no redemption yet here. And its early to say ‘its bad writing’, maybe author change things later in story, we will see. I dont have too much hope but still, hoping author fix it. Hope, you got me.

Talk more shit about nighteye,pls.
THE WAY I AM SCREAMING SUDNDIDJDJ but okie let me pull out the manga to do some canon-accurate shit talking:
first of all sir, fix your posture. you look dumb with your neck poking out like that (am being childish but I’m looking at the panel of him standing beside that tickle machine or whatever and SIR STAND UP STRAIGHT PLEASE dwnbjfnejnd)
after izu makes his face and nighteye is all like aRe yOu mAkInG fUn oF aLl mIgHt they literally share this back-and-forth moment where they’re describing the incident that the all might face came from and the fact that izuku pulled off an expression that, one (1) sir didn’t recognize and, two (2) he was able to describe in vivid detail afterwards shows that he loves and adores all might as much, if not more than, nighteye does!!!! and, instead of admitting he was wrong or acknowledging that they have this in common, this man wants to be a butt and starts playing these i won’t stamp your form games FOR WHAT?
sir: “... you will need to take numerous excused absences. as such, you will fall behind your classmates.”
izu: “if i were only looking to keep up then I’d never be the best”
LIKE??????????? NIGHTEYE DO YOU HEAR THIS BOY?? CAN YOU GIVE HIM SOME CREDIT? LIKE A LITTLE CRUMB OF IT PLEASE? he’s literally saying he’s ready to put in this work but here you are with your crooked giraffe neck talkin bout “what do i have to gain by hiring you?” what do you have to gain by shutting your fucking mouth???
“my agency employs two sidekicks and one student already, and it operates without a hitch. what profit does your employment offer me?” okay, putting aside how disrespectful he’s being at this moment, nighteye is supposed to be all logical and what the fuck ever (and even with the knowledge that he does end up accepting izuku into the agency and was planning to the entire time) you would think that a man of his intellect would not like... waste time with this unnecessary bullshit? like, you knew izuku was coming with the intention of getting to do his work study there, why all this slamming of your stamps against the desk and terribly worded questioning that puts a child on the spot (in an obviously hostile situation, cause you’re definitely not being inviting at allllll)
when he asks bubble girl and mirio to leave the room, she asks mirio if his interview went like izuku's and, even though she says she’s jealous that sir liked mirio from the start, the fact that she asks at all leads me to believe that her interview didn’t go that way either. like, i get being salty or whatever but, again, IZUKU IS A CHILD! having the supposed big brain that you do, sir, would tell you to have at a little tact at the verrrrrry least, but you know, what do i know feubfjenkf
“your sense of humor is appallingly bad. nonetheless, I’m offering you a chance. I’m quite kind, aren’t I?” I WILL STOMP YOU TO DEATH 2.0 WITH MY HOOVES NIGHTEYE FUCK OFFFFF
“I still have great respect and love for all might. but on the matter of his successor... I fail to understand his vision.” this man is really FOUL. like, “yes, I don’t understand the appeal he sees in a person that i don’t know and have been unbelievably rude to since the moment they walked into my agency while trying to appeal to my nonsensical demands and attitude. I simply do not understand the vision at all.” :/
ALSO you’re throwing all this shit in his face while he’s meant to be completing a BULLSHIT task that proves nothing (did i mention how Nighteye The Most Logical likes to waste time?) and i get that it could have put him under distress to show how izuku operates under those conditions, but you don’t have to call his worth into question or say you “cannot approve” of him like anyone asked you to ://///////
izu: “he said... I could do it...”
sir: “he did? to a nobody like you?”
again, I get it but also kick fucking rocks with open-toe sandals on, nighteye
and i’m gonna end it on this point cause this is longer than i meant for it to be debjdfbjwebfje but kudos to you izu for not stomping on your mentor’s face covering the walls, but with the way sir was talking, I would have two-stepped the dirt off my shoes onto them dumb ass posters JUST TO PROVE A POINT because you saying that izu isn’t “completely worthless to me” isn’t gonna make up for the absolute fuckery that was the last, what, twentyish pages? i’ve said it once and i’ll say it again: FUUUUUUUUCK YOU NIGHTEYE
