3) Yuuri’s birthday falls on Thanksgiving weekend this year and he is a little bummed his mom hasn’t asked him what he would like yet. She’s usually good about asking weeks in advance, but Yuuri guesses she’s been busy. She finally calls the day before Thanksgiving and asks what he would like. Even though he’s disappointed he’d never admit it to his mom. He tells her about a game he’s had his eye on or some sheets for his and Viktor’s bed they’ve been wanting. She says she’ll do her best on such short notice. Hours later there’s a knock at the front of the door. Yuuri hates to make people wait, so he walks to answer it with soapy dish in hand. Opening the door, the dish crashes to the floor when he sees his mom holding the game, his dad holding a wrapped bundle containing the sheets and his sister with a sign that says “Surprise!” in Katakana.

4) Viktor’s birthday falls on Christmas as everyone knows and he goes all out this year. Decorated their house so much Yuri says it looks like “elves on crack” had free reign. He spends weekends baking cookies with Yuuri and Benji, Emil teaches him to make fudge. One weekend, Michele even comes over and shares his family’s holiday biscotti recipe. Viktor insists that most of their friends spend the night at the house so they can wake up early and open presents from “Santa”. The morning comes and everyone opens their gifts. Most of them are nice gifts, but some are humorous and others life-changing. Viktor doesn’t appreciate the bottle of Rogaine Yuri gave him, but Yuri explains its payback for the baby pictures. Yuuri is in happy tears from the painting Viktor gave him of them chest to chest, gazing into each other’s eyes but doesn’t remember the picture. Viktor admits it’s two different reference pictures put together. Sasha bursts into tears when she opens the present from her “brother”, Viktor and tells him it’s too much. He holds her until she stops crying, tells her it’s just right and no one deserves it more than her.

5) Yuri and Otabek have their first full-fledged, all out fight. They are in line waiting to pick up Yuri’s diploma since it’s graduation day. Otabek asks Yuri about the culinary school Yuri will be attending and if it’s legit. He and Viktor have already explored options and even had Mr. Wright do background checks on a few schools to weed out the good from the scams. After he tells Otabek about the institute, he asks when is he leaving for California since he received full scholarship at one of the most prestigious art schools in the country. Otabek beats around the bush until Yuri demands a straight answer. When Otabek tells him he’s not attending, Yuri sees red and actually starts shouting. He tells him it’s a once in the lifetime opportunity, why is he wasting his life in construction when he wants a career in art, when is he going to get off his ass and chase his dreams? Otabek yells back his answer and soon they're in each other’s faces. When Yuri hears the real reason he’s not leaving, he falls quiet and for once in his life has no words, being rocked by Otabek’s declaration.

Super Random Stuff from the Week
