delighted by what RTD did with letting 14 keep his own tardis, and still use it, even as he's nominally retired. i've said this before but the idea that the ordinary and extraordinary cannot coexist is infuriating to me; i *hate* endings where an exclusively mundane life is seen as a grand reward, as if creativity and mischief and wonder are kid things to be left behind. that's just such a miserable outlook on life to have! you make peace- literally and figuratively- with the ordinary, but without looking for and delighting in the extraordinary, you deny yourself some of the best parts of life. i know i'll be fighting "and then the magic goes away" endings throughout my career as an editor and it's a relief to see that i won't be fighting alone

Aiight, mother fluffers, we got doll-ception. This is a doll body I got off allied express. (just look up BJD body, you get choices) It’s low quality, dolor store plastic. Good for practicing or replacing the toddlers broken barbie body. More importantly: JOINTS.

I’mma take those joints.

He-he-hehehe. *ahem*. Okay, then. As you can see, I have a spare body. It’s a Barbie official body I got from @ maleficentmrsofallevil . The legs were rubber and the arms too. So off they went!

Worbla. Is. Your. Friend. I have been using this one sheet for over two years, and it. Is. Magnificent. Chopstick through joints, and many hours of slowly building a connecting link together above a rubber frikin Barbie leg, and BOOM!

Look, a thigh joint is a bit beyond me at this point. Ankles too. But I think I could literally sculpt one by hand. Just didn’t have a part for it on my cheep doll. Also learned that the doll with this sort of torso... one leg is shorter than the other. So this doll has a killer stand still stance. And permanent scoliosis. Representation? Sure, why not. But you know what she do have? FLEXIBILITY!

Upper arm joint works, fingers split into individual digits. Now I need to fill the side joints and reseal the body. Then I need to find a head to go on it. Once that’s done, I’ll paint the body and head to match, do some hair, a face up, and all that jazz.

And the answer to that is... I don't know! Gary right now would consider that a 'James thing' and I don't want to kind of force him into a certain space mentally in case he never goes there, it's nice to think he'd change his mind over time, but if he doesn't, I wouldn't hold that against him either and I think Efnisien would respect that too.

So... I don't know. It would depend largely on Gary and his headspace, and where that evolves to over the course of this story. And because I don't have this story plotted, and because it's not vital to Gary's and Efnisien's happiness, it's very much a 'if we get there we get there and if we don't they'll still be happy' thing. :D
