I have a website about bisexual books now! 💗💜💙
I'm covering books which usually don't make it onto lists of bi representation so if you're underwhelmed by YA or tired of reading exclusively US literature, this might be the site for you!

More statistical wonders from the land of bi erasure: I just checked the google news search, and in 2022 the word “bisexual” was only mentioned 193,000 times in the press, compared to 33,300,000 for the word “gay” (that's 0.5%).
Bis comprise 50% or more of the LGBT population.

Every now and then I see terrible takes about pansexuality, and their sheer rankness inspires in me a petty urge to switch to writing in terms of pansexual. Except I don’t really like that either. 🤔
But I do think it would be kinda cool if people started describing themselves as Pan, less as a reference to “all,” but as an allusion to the god Pan, with the resonances of being:
erotically chaotic (or chaotically erotic? not taking for granted traditional/hegemonic ways of structuring eroticism, sexuality, relationships, and kinship; honoring the values of playfulness and creativity in forming relationships and practices that are well-suited to the people involved)
multi-natured (we can be other things as well, which means... we are not all the same, no unified “we;” also this is NOT culturally-universal term that can truly capture “all”)
seeking and offering companionship (potentially or aspirationally unstructured by gender)
existing outside well-ordered areas (this is not a taxonomic term! we’re expressing vibes and visions, not some imagined empirically-derived pattern of attraction that’s clearly discontinuous from other “sexual orientations,” this is absolutely NOT a sexual orientation; eta: also, pride flags are anti-Pan)
an unfolding process (there is no fixed, essential self, we exist as a knot in the web of world and embodiment)
numinous (because I love a terrible mystery, atheist edition)
Anyway, I hope this contributes to the Discourse.

It really makes my heart full seeing my community become more vocal. When I first realized I was bi, I was immediately met with the notion that the B in LGBT was less important than the L and G. And of course, it made sense, we were basically half straight anyway right?
Now I’m older, and purposely obnoxiously bisexual - and angry. A lot of bisexual people are now.
But we still need to be careful that in the process of questioning the casual biphobia in the LGBT community, we don’t ostracize or attack the L and G. You can be angry, you can be hurt, you can stand up for yourself, and you can point out the flagrant biphobia that’s there, but the moment you step into “monosexual privilege” territory and your love of being bisexual simply becomes hate for gay men and lesbians - game over.
I don’t want to interact with you or know you, and don’t you dare call yourself a “bisexual activist”. The reason we’re fighting so hard for our history and sexuality to be recognized, accepted, and respected, is because while I not only love my bisexuality and my community, I want to be able to share that. We will never be divorced from the L and G communities, so we have to strive to make our bridges stronger.
We’re not at war. You don’t fight biphobia and misinformation with lesbophobia and homophobia.

[EDIT: This kickstarter has been successfully funded!]
Come support a bi creator! Created bi Wayward Masquerade, there’s a limited amount of birate t-shirts and dice jails, as well as these pins and dice-hoarding dragon bags:
Dragon Bagon designs unlocked: Ace, Bi
Pin designs unlocked: Rainbow, Ace, Bi, Trans, Lesbian, Non Binary, Pan, Aro, Agender, Genderqueer
Interested in unlocking more bagon designs and pin designs? Come pledge your support towards the stretch goals! [Kickstarter link]
My precious bice, lapis lazuli, bismuth, and amethysts will be well guarded by the tiny, nimble bi pride dragon bagons pictured above. As my friend Fizban would tell you, items left in a bi bagon’s protection absorb part of the dragon’s magic power, which might awaken incredible abilities, such as luckier rolls. Be aware that hoard items might develop a draconic quirk…
d4 | Bi Bagon Draconic Quirk
1 | The item’s bearer gains advantage to make humorous bi puns, which may de-escalate (or escalate) conflicts, at GM discretion.
2 | The item’s bearer gains the ability to make the type of familiars summoned by the find familiar spell dragons in addition to choosing between celestials, fey, or fiends.
3 |   The item’s bearer has advantage on Charisma checks made to influence dragons or improve their attitudes, as their adorable bagon friend is too cute to resist.
4 | The item’s bearer gains two binspiration bice. Each one is a d2 that can be used like a bardic inspiration die. You can only use one binspiration bie at a time, and you regain any expended uses when you finish a long rest.

labeling a relationship hetero just because it’s wlm is the most heteronormative thing i can think of. Why does heterosexuality have to be the default? why can’t I be a bi in a bi relationship? why do wlm relationships have to belong to heterosexuals?
“that’s how society sees it” well society is stupid and I don’t see why we have to follow it.

So many bi people say "Yes, I fit the statistics [on mental health, physical health, sexual violence, IPV, etc.] but it's not because of my bisexuality". This is because biphobia/monosexism are more often about denial of vital resources, and less about overt explicit violence.
We are unable to detect the lack of something that we never knew we could have. It's like living your entire life underwater, never knowing there can be air to breathe.

being bi is literally just like: *is hated by and isolated from cishet people/society* *is hated by and isolated from the lgbt+ community* *falls in love with cute stranger at the grocery store* *gets groundlessly and irrationally accused of bigotry* *french tucks shirt* *is constantly worried that you’re Actually Just Faking It* *loves purple* *is made to feel inherently disgusting* *makes a pun* *is erased* *is hated by-

I’m so proud of bisexual butches and femmes. Being butch or femme and claiming and owning those identities can be a brave act in its own right. But.
The bisexuals that have refused to let their own history and community be torn away from them? The bisexuals that have found a home in these identities without letting biphobia and people with ahistorical notions of what being bisexual even is deter them? The bisexuals that reject the notion that they’re tainted? That reject the idea that they are available to men or live to serve men in any way?
THAT is bravery. I love you.

Support your local bisexuals.
They may bite, or jab their sword at you, so please be careful when interacting with a bi for the first time, but don't be afriad. Once you have won their trust, however, they will defend you with their life, and are very snuggly. Don't forget: Give them plenty of cool jackets and weapons and affection.
Thank you for your support. :D
