Hey guys! We have to put more time and energy to our Happy Flexi pets project (it's about creating STL files of pets for 3d home printing), it's easier to work with in our current situation but we haven't given up with our main project - Walloya Morring - making ball-jointed dolls. Although making BJD pets we put on pause for a while but we're still working on BJD Granny Mice.

And in this post we'd like to show you some pics of Nora. It's a 30 cm doll, casted in polyurethane, Basic skin ton Makeup by Renaissance Dolls Wig by Zorina Doll Clothes by Julia Mokhova dress We've encountered with some challenges in Serbia about making dolls in a way we do it. Of course we're looking for ways to solve it and until that we have to work with some restrictions but we're working!

My first doll project of 2024 was to re-style Ember. I made my first sewn wig from pre-made wefts and I am happy with it!

The part is messy, but it's not bad for my first wig like this. The wig cap is fabric and I bought it years ago from Angelesque still. I sewed most of the wefts on while the cap was on her head.

With her new pastel pink and mint wig, I finally kicked myself in the butt to also redo her faceup. I opted for now applied eyelashes this time because her eyes are so narrow that you can't see them at all.

This was her previous faceup and wig. The wig always was meant to be temporary, because I don't like it that much, but it was the only one I didn't feel bad cutting holes into for her horns.

The transparent horns are magnetic, but the solid ones are not, and of course they are a very awkward position making it impossible for her to wear normal wigs. Yes, the wig I sewed has holes cut into it for her horns. It's stretchy which is the only reason it goes over the horns at all.

Decided to make a super long wig for my SmD (mostly inspired by my Bratz x Mowalola dolls except way longer lol)

Mullet wig from Taobao to serve as the base:

Removed almost all of the wefts in the back with my seam ripper and replaced them with matching 31" wefts (Jennifer serving as the mannequin as per usual) 31" was the longest I could find, otherwise I would have gone even longer! I also doubled up most of the wefts to make sure it would be thick enough to make an impact

The wig is so long that I had to attach jennifer's head to a tripod in order to flat iron the new wefts lol

Success!!!

I also flat ironed the remaining wefts to use an extension, because even 31" isn't as long as what I saw in my head when planning this look lol

Guess I could always document some of the process here. I had always hated making wigs, but then I discovered hot glue.

Honestly, this half of the wig owes everything to TwistedZisters, a creative fibre artist here in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).

But the octopus half is still under construction. I had to run out and get wire because the next part needs an armature.

I don’t expect this to be a work of art, I’m still new to needle felting.

Alright, first off, terrible size match. Supia does not play nice with the DF-H body. But I needed the height for reference on the wig length.

The color is very, veeeery close, but when you actually put effort into examining it, it does change texture and sheen a bit.

And here is a brief look at the length, when loose, her hair falls roughly 75cm long.

Please ignore the other 100 projects in the back.

I probably need to straighten the tips a bit. But otherwise I am very happy with how this turned out.

Some Linhardt MSD progress.

I managed to make a head stand using a hot glue head donut (done using a bouncy ball) some post tubes, a wooden base and elastic strings.

It was very useful while working on Linhardt's wig. I've been working on it little by little as my carpal tunnel syndrome kicks off everytime I use them.

The front is still a bit too long, but I'll sort it out next time. This is a heat resistant fiber wig. I used hot water and hair straighteners to remove the frizzy ends to get a natural look.

For the bow I used mini hairbands and managed to hook one in the box central stitch using a needle and some tweezers. Is looking very nice and I can't wait to do his face-up. Sadly, I have to wait until the cold goes away as it can crack the MSC sealant. I never did a face-up on white resin, so I am looking forward to keep practising soon.

Linhardt's head: Sleeping Eric in Peony White

The other head is a Preloved Leekeworld Michael. I don't know the year he was made, which makes it difficult to hybrid him. Fingers crossed!

I just got this split wig from Aliexpress and wow. It is so pretty and soft. 0_o The seller included a wig cap AND a comb??? Definitely a fantastic deal.

The fibers are soooo thin that static can be a problem, but just puffing warm air over it settled it down. And split hair colors will be real difficult to keep to their own sides but I'm not trying to keep them separate at the moment.

I'm just in a bit of shock how pretty it is, and with a rooted style part. It was less than $10 so I fully expected a cheapo that I was going to experiment with dye on (to make the white side yellow). Now I'm like ... it's too nice to potentially ruin ...

For now, as I had to left almost all of my dolls in Mariupol, this minifee Shushu head is the oldest in my collection. I got it secondhand in 2013. It was SP head with unfinished modifications. And only 10 years later, just few days ago I got male motion body. Yes, he's male, but I had only girl body at the moment this photo was taken. Plus it's not his wig, hehe.

P.S. The wig is made by me. It's feather+acrylic yarn.

Ventilating Tutorial - Tailored Swiss lace Doll Head cap using a ventilating needle - Quick Tips:

quick tip 1/4: "Align your lace weave around the head horizontally so your knotted hair will part in a natural way."

quick tip 2/4: "To insure your cap stays in place, make a chin strap with a thread by attaching both sides of the lace together under the chin of your doll. "

quick tip 3/4: "If you plan to ventilate your wig with heat resistant synthetic fibers, you can also use them to sew your cap. Fold one in two and make a first knot, then do a seam with the needle. "

quick tip 4/4: "Ventilating through the 3 layers of lace at the back of the head can be quite tricky and tedious. Instead, sew the top part's edge horizontally and cut the excess lace. Then leave a narrow overlap at the bottom of the cap. "
