this scene here is shot like we're jaewon. yes, there are multiple pov shots in other kbls as well but this takes the cake. here the sole focus point is jihyun. theres no annoying background, not even annoying noise from other people. just the shower running. the cherry on top is the fact jihyun isnt fully visible but hidden- making it obvious those are stolen glances.
if they continue to deliver us more scenes like this idk how i'll survive because as a lifelong artist and someone who was raised with melancholic media the whole bl is scratching the right part of my brain and i already know i'll obsess more over it the more episodes come out

Okay a little bit of a rant, triggered by Revenge of Others : people need to stop seeing gay couples as BL. I've been seeing this comment about Wonseok and Sejin too much. They are not "BL", this is REPRESENTATION. Gay couples (and Sapphic too of course, anything) should exist in dramas, not just in BLs. Normalize having a gay couple in your het drama. I've seen people saying they would drop the drama because they are not into BLs. It's literally just any other couple. They are here for two minutes in the drama. Force people to see gay couples outside of BLs and GLs. Normalize it.

Roommates of Poongduck 304
You know what? I'm not done talking about this show.
It's left me feeling melancholy. Which means I've got some more to unpack in this series.
I like watching cute guys canoodling as much as the next person, but these lovely little bl series that we all love serve a couple actually important roles.
1. Validating the real lived experiences of people that identify with the characters.
2. Helping us all visualize a future that we haven't yet achieved.
The two leads in Roommates both come into this story with profound loneliness. Both have a lot of distance and abandonment from their families. Neither one has meaningful friendships, and some of the relationships they have are deeply destructive.
The story doesn't directly tie these experiences to the characters sexuality, though there may be a bit of implication in a few spots.
And then there is the internalized homophobia and self shame (which breaks my heart).
These uncomfortable themes play out between the sweeter moments of a budding romance, which creates a juxtaposition, that serves to add poignancy to both the sweet and serious moments.
I wasn't expecting any of this from a show I thought was going to be fluff.
I think the show could have had twice as many episodes because it feels like there were a lot of things left unresolved. Not the romance, that part seemed to be secure. The viewer is left assuming that having that one strong, healthy, core relationship in place will empower the characters to work through some of the problems in different areas of their lives. I would have liked to have seen that. It's very satisfying to see the power of love to change lives. Or maybe the fact that love doesn't fix everything is the point.
That said, for being such a short series, this show did manage to pack a lot into the limited time it had. I did enjoy it, and I'm glad it made me feel and think a little deeper than I expected.
