Hi Cin. Long time reader who typically just quietly reads and likes your wonderful story telling posts. (Mostly I just come on Tumblr to save my cc read some posts and go lol.) But I wanted to step in and defend Jayce and Hope's relationship a bit if you don't mind.

First, I don't think he's too perfect. I think he has flaws just like Hope and all your other characters because you make round characters who have depth and dimensions. He has a host of baggage with his family issues and he is prone to pull away when things are difficult. We haven't even seen how this baggage will completely play out in the long run. I was so afraid in the post with Elliot sitting on the bench that it was actually going to be Bishop at first before I scrolled down. (Those black forces could have meant any unhinged man tbh) Second, sometimes you meet the one early on. Hope never sought out to find some magical love. She found that in Jayce almost completely by accident.

Moreover, for the purpose of the entire story I love the dichotomy. Indya went through several men (especially in the OG story before she arrived in San My) before finding the one. It tells of story of what it is like to grow up in a loving stable environment. How Hope was able to easily recognize Jayce's love in a way that Indya couldn't when she was Hope's age. I don't see a purpose for Hope waiting to be with Jayce except waiting for the sake of waiting. Their love was so strong and pure early on and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I say this as someone who believes that every young woman should be out in the streets. LOL But at the same time why let something so good go just because? Love doesn't always have to be a struggle. Relationships, even good, easy, non-toxic ones come with a host of issues. Communication issues, outside family issues, hell even a bad day at work (as you so beautifully illustrated) can bring problems to a relationship. Hope and Jayce are surviving it all together. Respectfully, I don't think they need more issues to make it real.

Personally, I know someone who met their husband on a blind date and had a month long romance before they eloped. They have been married for 40 years now. I also know people who married and divorced their high school sweethearts finding a better love later. Love isn't one size fits all and I don't think an easy love means unrealistic. It's just the luck of the draw. Anyway, thank you for sharing your pixels with us. Your story is so beautiful to me even in the sad moments.
