Vent time: I’m not a big fan of Blackinnon simply because I’m a big Wolfstar shipper but it’s a little weird how people act like there’s something objectively bad about this ship. Like cmon we ship important canon figures with random oc no names already with Jegulus, Marylily, and whatever the heck the fandom likes these days. These ships are pretty much the same amount of grounding but are praised and considered far better than blackinnon because blackinon is simply a straight ship. There really is nothing better about any of these ships than blackinon.

I really hate how this fandom popularized the opinion that straight ships by default are boring or worse just because they’re straight. No it’s no true and it’s an immature thing to think considering that straight trans people and bi people exist in this fandom that proclaims to be very open to queer people. 2nd of all it it’s very shallow take because it ignores that straight ships aren’t bad because they’re straight but because sometimes they’re written from a very male gaze way that’s unequal and misogynistic.

I feel like a lot of black lash for blackinon is also with how Marlene is a lesbian in popular fanon which is why I also don’t really like this ship overall but people have to understand that at the end of the day it’s a headcanon. Marlene doesn’t have a confirmed sexuality. It’s all fanon so she can be anything. Along with Wolfstar shippers. I love Wolfstar to death but cmon at the end of the day Wolfstar isn’t canon so people who ship siriuswith someone else isn’t like objectively bad or anything. For a fandom that talks constantly about how with fanon people can do whatever they want it’s really interesting to see how much this fanon will stress adherence to whatever is popular fanon and bash on other ideas and works that don’t. At the end of the day all of marauders discourse can be solved with no it’s not just better or anything it’s just personal preference really.

Just a blackinon one shot I had in mind

Pairings:Sirius Black and marlene mckinnon

Best Christmas Ever

Year 7

Christmas break

Sirius had moved out of grimauld place like a year ago being in better environment and having James wisen up for Lily had influenced him.

Marlene had found a job at leaky cauldron and had spent the summer break there.She also got inspired by Sirius moved out the hell she was born in.

They started dating in late fifth year after the OWLsbut decided to spend Christmas break in Hogwarts or to be specific with each other. They moved around hogshead had warm dinner with wMinne(Mcgonagall) and were curled up in common room.

"Would you mind sleeping with me in boys dorm for the night? You know its Christmas tomorrow and I have spent all of Christmas break over here till fifth year and just so I thought..."

He hesitantly asked but was cut off by Marlene "I would love to "

"Should go and change" she said heading over to girls dorm

"In 30 min?" He asked getting up himself. She nodded in response.

She cleansed her self since it was way too cold for a shower. Grabbing a black bra just in case something happened and putting on a pajama and a button up. She brushed her blonde curls and letting them fall over her face and shoulders.She smiled at the confident lady staring back at her from the mirror not the miserable girl she used to look down at.

While he washed his face and put on a lose tshirt along with pajama bottoms and a pair of socks since his feet were freezing .He made sure he wasn't stinking ,applied ditiny at a particularly rough bruise as madam pomfy had advised and made his bed since the dorm was presentable itself with all 4 lads gone.

She entered the room to find him going through quidditch through ages. Looking at her he set the book aside and tapped on the space on his bed beside him. She hopped on and got under the covers without saying anything. Even without words they could understand each other than anyone. Now they were both facing each other and somehow sirius' loose tshirts revealed the healing bruise.

"That seems rough "she said tracing the scar making sure not to touch it.

"I've had worse"he said looking at her. She look him in eye with love care and a need to clear all the pain he had to through.

"Do you want to see more?"he asked .She nodded in response.

"I will show you mine after it.". She said helping him take of the tshirt. Revealing many small scars and 2 noticeable ones.

"This one is nasty."She said while looking at the scars on his well built body thanks to quidditch. "4th year "he replied .

"Your's? " he asked."Wait"she said getting up and letting down the button up revealing a bruised back and a black bra .Laying back down with her back facing Sirius.

"They are deep"he said looking at exactly 3 scares on her back.

"They knew where it was the most painful so they striked there everytime making it worse"

"Should I unclapse the bra it must be stinging having it over all day."

"Yes. And by now I have gotten used to it"

"You are really thin"

"Thanks to my parents wanting me to be ladylike and minimizing my appetite. "

By now the fireplace was long gone with only moonlight glistening on their bodies

He hugged her and she took of her lingering bra and placed it on floor. He caressed her breast she didn't have big ones but just perfect to fit in his hands. Together they drifted to a peaceful sleep not to be woken up. They both had lost their virginity but what they experienced today was pure love and intimacy.

They both for once let themselves be vulnerable and thry were valued by each other. Forgetting about Voldemort or deaths out there they let them have a peaceful Christmas. By waking up in each other's arm and cool breeze from the window.

They were ready for what the future held for them even if it meant losing each other at least they had this night to cherish for the rest of their life.

Hey! I’ve changed your prompt a little bit and I hope you don’t mind! In this case, Sirius and Marlene aren’t a couple yet, but are in love with each other. Here it is:

The first thing Sirius heard when he woke up was someone cracking the bedroom’s door open. The second thing he heard was the sound of his godson’s tiny steps on the floor; he smile instantly and opened his eyes.

“Who pushed you out of bed, Harry?” Sirius asked while he was sitting on the bed.

Harry giggled and rubbed his eyes. “Auntie Marlene.”

Sirius furrowed his eyebrows and got up quickly, picking up Harry from the floor on his way. He started to make their way to the kitchen as soon as he realised the marvellous smell of pancakes was coming from there.

“Is she here?” He asked Harry and the boy nodded excitedly.

“She said she’s going to make pancakes and eggs and sausages and toasts and hot cocoa.” With every word he said, Harry got more and more excited and Sirius was seriously concerned whether he would explode with joy.

“Good morning, Black.” Marlene said when the pair entered the kitchen.

The kitchen was destroyed, as usual. Marlene was one of the most talented cooks Sirius and everyone else had the pleasure to meet in their lifetimes, but she wasn’t able to cook anything without turning the kitchen into a mess - it looked like it had been used in a war and not to cook some pancakes.

“Morning, McKinnon.” He replied and kissed her cheek. “Why…?”

“If you asked me why I’m here, I’m going to punch you in the face, honestly.” She interrupted him.

Sirius laughed. “I’m always impressed with how nice you’re in the morning. It’s astonishing.”

“Shut up, Black. It’s your birthday, for Merlin’s sake!” Marlene rolled her eyes, pretending to be annoyed at his forgetfulness when in reality she was trying hard not to laugh. She knew he would forget it.

“Yes!” Harry shouted, happily and started singing in a total unmelodious way: “Happy birthdaaaay toooo yooou!” to which Marlene started chuckling.

Sirius ruffled Harry’s hair and smiled at him. In that moment, he felt as happy as Harry was before when he was talking about breakfast and he started to wonder if one really could explode with excitement.

“Thank you, Prongsie.” Sirius said, amused. “And thank you too, Marlene, I’ve completely forgotten it was today.”

“No problem.” She blinked at him. “Also, your gift is in my purse, but I think someone’s starving over here and I don’t to keep him waiting any longer.”

Harry stopped his little dancing moves and his singing came to an end. “Is it time to eat yet?”

Marlene nodded and with a flick of her wand, she levitated all the plates and pans and bowls and cups and jars and sent everything to table. Harry soon followed, looking as mesmerized at the magic trick as he always did.

“Why…?”

“If you ask me why I did all of this, I’m going to kick you in the balls, Black.” She said and left the kitchen.

Harry was already attacking every piece of food he’d found and Marlene couldn’t stop herself from remembering how James would do the same thing when they were 4 and she slept over his house. It was shocking how much Harry had taken after his father and sometimes she could only wish James was alive to see it with his own eyes. She sighed and sat beside the 4-year-old.

“Take it easy, little one, we still have to bake a cake.”

“This is the best day ever.” Harry said with his mouth full. “You should live here with us, auntie Marls.”

“You really think so, Harry?”

The boy nodded a thousand times, enthusiastically. “I think uncle Sirius thinks so too because he always smiles in a funny way when you’re here.”

Marlene turned her head to face Sirius with a smirk up on her lips. “Do you, Black?”

“If you’re going to save the kid from eating my food, I couldn’t agree more with him.” Sirius joked and took a sip of his coffee to stop himself from saying anything else.

“Actually… why don’t you too get married?” Harry asked, furrowing his little eyebrows as if he was trying really hard to think of a good reason why his godparents weren’t married yet.

While he was thinking, Sirius choked on his coffee.

“People only get married when they’re in love, Harry.” Marlene explained to him, calmly.

“But you’re in love with uncle Sirius, aren’t you? You cooked him pancakes for his birthday!” He was exasperated.

Marlene chuckled. “It takes more than that to be in love with someone.”

Sirius was petrified - not literally, of course - and was cursing Lily’s genes to the moon and back.

“Exactly.” He said and his voice cracked in the middle of the word, making him sound not as confident was he was trying to.

He cursed silently, Marlene chuckled and Harry stared at them both.

“But you look at auntie Marlene the same way daddy looks at mummy in the pictures, uncle Sirius.”

Marlene and Sirius looked at each other.

I don't care if you don't ship Drarry, Dramione, Deamus, Wolfstar, Linny, etc I really don't.

But if you go on the post about Drarry and comment "eeew", "I was going to like but then it was Drarry" I'm thinking that you were raised by Lucius Malfoy because the only person that though their opinion was so important that everyone want it to hear it was Draco Malfoy.

Like seriously, what do people gain by commenting shitty things about the things that other people loves? Do you not see me trying to make this post about this thing™ so it's a safe place for people who likes this thing™? Shut up and go to the hate hashtags were your opinion matters.

Like saying that "Ginny Weasley is straight wtf💀" in a post about Linny just makes everyone uncomfortable, it doesn't make anyone to stop liking them, just makes them feel scared or defensive when they're about to post about them.

For not to mention the people who sends death threats to someone because they like Dramione because they are "romanticizing abusive relationships", as if by shipping them they encouraged people to be abusive with their partners. Literally makes me so mad, I miss the fandom before Dracotok era so fucking much.

Just stop like if I said "Remus never knew how to cook properly, but Sirius felt as free in the kitchen as if he never was a prisoner" is for people to comment "yes, but breakfast and tea were all made by Remus, I just can't imagine Sirius getting snacks, like Remus just would put them on his hand" not for you to go "lmaooo💀 Blackinon supremacy 🛐🛐" who made you feel as important? Why do you wanna comment that? It's your life so boring that you feel the need to comment passive agressive things? I can't imagine someone being like "Yeah, I feel great after pointing that out, now everyone would stop liking this".

Blackinnon, a measured response.

Would update if more discussions comes out. This post is not for a specific person. If the statement doesn’t apply to you, do not take it personally.

If you think Blackinnon is homophobic, think again!

Here are the facts: yes, Blackinnon is fanon. yes, we are a small community. yes, it’s heterosexual. But does that mean we hate queer ships? No.

Some may think, “Marlene Mckinnon is not even a background character, why on earth does people ship it? They must be homophobic.” This may be a little shocking, but accusing someone of being homophobic just based on what they ship is an act of denigration. You’re just putting hate on other people’s mouth to make them your foe, even if they have no intentions to be so.

We can ship blackinnon and wolfstar or dorlene. Some of blackinnon shippers actually believe those can co-exist. So what is the problem? We can ship wolfstar or dorlene and not blackinnon or the other way around. It’s really based on taste and what they’ve read.

Shipping a straight ship is not an act of homophobia, nor does it make you straight. I could be gay or bi and ship blackinnon. It’s not a hard concept to understand.

I know a lot of people who hate blackinnon rant because they have a passion for their own ship, and I don’t blame them. You can ship whatever you want. But is it really necessary to bring other ship down?

If you have the need to rant and hate about a certain ship, make sure you use the anti tag. If you knew about the tag but still refuse to use it, you’re just writing rants to belittle other people in your favor. Doesn’t sound very accepting.

Seriously, though, WHY do people ship it?

If you genuinely want to know, then ask the person who ship them. I can’t speak on behalf of all the Blackinnon shippers because they ship it for different reasons. Some ship it for their dynamic, from the fanfics they’ve read, from the headcanons, from their view of Marlene, from their view of Sirius and many more.

For me personally, I ship them for two reasons. Their character dynamics throghout almost all the fanfics i read and, because in my mind wolfstar couldn’t work because of Sirius’s insensitivity for Remus throughout the books (i.e. The Prank, him liking the full moon, giving his riches to harry, his suspicion, etc.), and Frankly i think Remus deserves better. Shockingly, that’s just my opinion. And I have no problem with people not agreeing, but that’s what I concluded when I read the books. and the idea of Sirius having someone is nice you know? The flexibility of Marlene’s character is very inviting for everyone because they have their own interpretations.

Someway or another, you should accept that people have different opinions and interpretation. If you think blackinnon is unbelievably bad, then you do you. Doesn’t mean you have to leave a hate-post on their tag, nor should you blame them for shipping stuff they like.

Blackinnon is a very small ship. And if you hate it, you shouldn’t even bother commenting, responding, or ranting. It just makes people defend it, really. Some people love this ship and you’ve gone out of your way to make them feel bad about themselves. Why?

Marlene McKinnon is not even a a proper character

Here are the facts about Marlene McKinnon: Her name means star of the sea, she is a member of the order, her name is mentioned in Lily’s letter to Sirius, Sirius pointed at her in the movies.

A person that we know Sirius is at least acquainted/friends with makes her a blank canvas. As we all know, Sirius has no romance life in canon, so our options are very minimal.

There are people who ship Sirius with Caradoc, Benjy, Dorcas, Mary, Gideon, Fabian, and so much more. There are less hate for them compared to blackinnon and here’s why: Marlene McKinnon seemed to be in the spotlight because she is second to Remus in terms of possible pair for Sirius. That’s it.

Some Blackinnon shippers like blackinon because Marlene is practically a walking OC. She can be whatever you want.

But people tend to focus on the fact that she’s female. Putting that aside, Marlene is an absolute blast to read. Yes, she’s mentioned only a few times, but the whole point of Blackinnon is the possibility. Isn’t that always the case for fanon ships?

Understand the hate towards Blackinnon

When I first dive into Blackinnon years ago, all I see is hate thrown at them. The hate hasn’t stop, whether it’s from private messages or from hate-post.

The conversations I have with fellow Blackinnon shippers usually consist of the same things, “Why don’t they just leave us be?” and till this day I still wonder.

I’ve done my research, and really I wanted the results to be different.

There are many many many ships out there, using incest, pedophilia, or other stuff, and shockingly, it receives less hate from people. Doesn’t that beg the question?

Do people hate it because they simply dislike it or are they hating it because they have biased opinions about other ships. The truth is, (I’m going to unfilter- god protect me from hate messages) Blackinnon received a lot of hate because it’s the opposite of wolfstar. It’s straight. It’s not Remus. The audacity of people shipping Sirius with a person other than Remus! It’s the same argument for Remadora hate. More than 70% (not all ) of the people who hate on blackinnon and remadora, I observe, is from wolfstar shippers. (Yes, I counted it. I am a math god, and in need of a job)

People don’t have as much of a problem for Sirius/Mary, Sirius/Dorcas, Sirius/ Benjy, Sirius/Hermione etc. They have a problem with Blackinnon and Remadora (I wonder why). I’ll say it again, Marlene McKinnon seemed to be in the spotlight because she is second to Remus in terms of possible pair for Sirius.

Hating other ship to make your ship appear better is.... to be honest, understandable. But to tell you the truth, It doesn’t change a thing.

It doesn’t make me hate my ship. If your intentions on writing hate post is to receive approval from other people, I suggest you search for something else than the topic of hatred.

But, again, if you have the need for the feeling of satisfaction of speaking your opinion of something you passionately hate, then use anti-tag. It’s not so hard.

***CONCLUSION***

At the end of the day we have so much love for these characters, and our biases is only for ourselves. Can’t we just agree that although we love Harry Potter, we can also love different characters throughout the books/movies? There are communities for everything, focus on the community you love, not the community you hate.

If you got offended throughout reading his post, I’m sorry. But let me clear things up, I do not hate wolfstar, queer-ships, etc. I just like blackinnon, as simple as that. This doesn’t prove that I’m straight, or bi, or anything. It’s just what I like. This post is a defense and obviously not a hate-post. What I ask of you is just to leave blackinnon (and remadora) alone. Thank you.

Marauder era headcanon

The gryffindors play spin the bottles but with wands instead of bottles

And it’s Remus’ turn and he gets Sirius because of course he does

And they kiss and they forget everyone is watching and everyone just looks at them and they stop

And it’s James’ turn and he gets Lily, because again of course he does, and at this time Lily has a crush on him but she won’t tell him and they kiss and Lily likes him even more

That’s my head canon

Oh and also Dorcas gets Marlene

And then Marlene gets Sirius 😬

And that’s how the Blackinon ship starts

It was half past four in the morning and the sun had not yet risen. The peaks of the mountains were teasing the faintest bit of light, but so far the world was still in darkness. Marlene was leaning on a doorframe, fourteen-day old Aurora Black in her arms as she ever so carefully rocked her in her arms. She was a good baby so far, but loved having her parents attention at every hour of every day. Especially early in the mornings. Usually Sirius was the lighter sleeper but since Marlene had gone into early labour he hardly slept from the moment they arrived at the hospital until he knew that his wife and his daughter were healthy. Unfortunately the premature delivery had kept them in the hospital for a little over a week and now it was one of their first days back at home.

So when Aurora stirred the maternal instinct in Marlene had her up instantly, and for the first time ever Sirius continued to sleep even as Marlene left the bed. Now she was holding the girl who already had a tuft of bright blonde hair and her mothers beautiful blue eyes and looking so lovingly down at her, nothing else in the world seemed to matter. Aurora’s mouth opened and closed as if she was telling her mum a story and Marlene only smiled, carefully raising her arms to kiss the top of Aurora’s forehead. “I love you sweetie,” she said in a whisper as Aurora’s arms moved happily. Her mother’s voice caught her attention and Aurora starred intently at Marlene, eventually yawning widely. “Yeah, you need some more sleep, it’s still early,” she told her daughter, swaying her still in her arms.

A deep, sleepy voice came from further down the hall, “You both need more sleep. Why didn’t you wake me, you need more rest Marls,” Sirius said protectively once he was beside his wife, one arm wrapping around her while the other reached down to move the blanket from Aurora’s face. “I can get her back to sleep, you go lie down.”

Marlene rolled her eyes, “I’m fine, darling. They would not have let me leave the hospital if I wasn’t. Plus she wants her Mama, don’t you sweetie?” She cooed to the baby.

Aurora yawned in response and her eyes shut, her tiny hands wrapping around her father finger as she did so. Sirius chuckled, “At least come sit down while she falls back asleep,” he insisted. “Do you want tea or anything?”

Marlene shook her head as she walked slowly forward and eventually down into a rocking chair Sirius had picked out for the nursery. “Sirius-”

“I know, I know, I know, you’re fine,” he finished before she could. “But maybe I want to hold her too, so let me?”

“What time did you go to sleep?” Marlene asked.

Sirius paused, “Right after you did.”

“That was after midnight.”

“Yeah, why were you up so late anyway?” He accused and she laughed quietly. Aurora went to sleep early but woke up and wanted to nurse, which is what kept them both up. Marlene was still awake anyway but Sirius insisted on staying by her side. “Let me take her.”

“You haven’t slept more than four hours a night for two weeks, and if you pass out then there is no one to make tea for me and our lives will fall apart so back to bed!”

Sirius leaned down and kissed Marlene’s forehead, “Good try darling, but I’m not going anywhere.”

Sighing in desperation she looked down to Aurora, who’s eyes were still shut peacefully. “Want to put her back in her crib then?”

He grinned triumphantly and gently took her from his wife’s arms, gave her a soft kiss, whispered a few sweet words to his new baby girl before placing her back down between her blankets and teddy bears. Aurora was a good baby, she did not stir at being moved. The couple stayed watching her for five minutes before Marlene got back up and twisted her fingers between Sirius’. “Back to bed?” He whispered.

She agreed and the pair snuck out of her room, leaving the door open just a crack and crawled back into their bed where Sirius’ arms wrapped tightly around Marlene and she snuggled closely into him. Just as Marlene felt Sirius’ arms loosen around her with sleep and her own mind begin to drift off there was another soft cry from a little girl who was upset that her parents left her alone for all of five minutes. Marlene groaned and once again tried to get up without disrupting her sleeping husband. But it didn’t work, “Why don’t we move her into our room?” Sirius suggested as he went to get up with her.
