I thinking of making a fun short AU of the DC Random Villan Kids.

Where the edgiest teens try to become the biggest name in the Gotham Underworld, failed repetidly and give Babs, Tim, Steph and Cass a massive headache.

Starring:

Duela Dent as The Leader

Ethan Cobblepot as The Lancer

Enigma as The Smart One

Kid Shark as The Strong One

There is no heart because they are Bad Kids

About our protags:.

1. Duela Dent:

▫️While I find her multiple backstories fascinating (my favorite being the confusing she was from Earth 3 all along), I will keep the more logical one:

▪️Duela is the child of Harvey and Gilda Dent.

▪️ Harvey was scarred and became Two-Face during Gilda pregnancy, becaming instable and some times being really angry that her wife wasn't pregnant of twins.

▪️Afraid to be like his own abusive father, Harvey decided that the best he could do was abandon his wife and daugther before he could hurt them. Before going away he wrotre a letter explaining everything for when his daugther got older. Since they hadn't chose the name yet, Harvey used Duela in the letter as a cute nickname.

▪️ With her own mental health declining, Gilda could not raise the kid by herself and choose to give her to adoption after birth. She still had hopes of both her and Harvey seeking mental heath, getting better and adopting their kid back, that is why she named the baby Duela beforehand.

▪️After being reunited in The Long Halloween, they try to adopt her. But at this point they are worse and the orphanage don't even allow them to see her. That night Duela hears about her parents visit and thanks to gossip and missinformation ends up beliving her dad is the Joker.

▪️Duella got emancipated at 16 and tries to get her "dad's" attention by comiting crimes under varius villan themed pseudonymus the major one being "the truth".

▪️She succeds. Joker acepts her as a member of the gang because he won't say no to a free henchwoman.

▫️Different from cannon she and Harley have a great relationship. And get even closer when both leave Joker (Harley for her own sake and Duela when in a gang war Two-Face tells her the truth).

▫️Now she wants to became a great villan to show the Joker for humiliating her (and secretly because Harvey never explained why he abandoned her and she wants his aproval).

▫️Harvey wanted to reconect with her and may be cheated in his own coin game so he could try. He is a corny dad and has no idea what he is doing, but bless him he is trying. Duela pretends she doesn't care about him and that she thinks he is lame, but she is secretally really happy he is trying and loves being a daddy's girl.

▪️both want to see Gilda again.

▫️Duella is 18. She lives in Harley Quinn's basement, has a Tik Tok account and loves Death Note, eletronic and emo music.

▫️ She has the gemini symbol tatoo because of Harvey but she lies to people that she is just very into horoscope (insert her friends saying "but you are a sagitarius"). She also has a small harlerquin (for harley duh).

▫️ According to Jason she is "as cringe as Tim".

▫️During the short period between Cass and Tim that Steph was single she and Duela had a Tinder Match.

▪️No. One. Will. Ever. Let. Steph. Forget.

2. Ethan Cobblepot

▫️His backstory is the same except for the sake of bullying Ignatious Ogilvy is actually Oswald adopted son and so it's Martin (the kid from Gotham). So Oswald actually have two kids he loves and cares about, he just dislikes Ethan for no reason.

▫️He is the most steriotypical sad white rich boy with daddy issues.

▫️Different from cannon (or for what is inferred on cannon cause the art we get on the pannels isn't even that bad) his face is barrely scared he is just a whinny bitch.

▫️His reasons to be the best supervillan are: to be bigger than his father and "sibblings" and because he is simping on Batgirl and can't accept she broke up with him (he blames his "ugly" face).

▫️Duela actualy wanted Ogivly in her team, but he was too big league for them. She them tried Martin, but while he had potencial, he was twelve and she "didn't want a Robin". She never even tried Ethan, he just was stalking Martin and introduced himself as a team member.

▫️He does belive that by being the eldest he should be the team leader. He has a pont but is more because he pays for all their shit and since he is really rich they do have tec that it's just too good for a bunch of C-listers.

▫️He is 24. Has his own company he funded from zero (a word that here means with his father money, a lot of it) and loves minecraft, figthing with Enigma over who is the smartest, texting Barbara and criptocoin. He has his own CobbleCoin.

▫️Texted all the batkids more than once asking them to tell Barbara to unblock him.

▫️No one will ever let Barbara forget she dated him. She is the only one who can't make fun of Stephanie for the Tinder Match or of Damian for dating Lord Death Man kindda daugther because she dated Ethan Cobblepot.

3. Enigma

▫️No one know where did she came from. When asked Ed will be very enigmatic about it but the truth is he also doesn't known.

▪️Kid just appeared in his safe house one day saying she was his daugther. She knew nothing about her biomon, lived in an orphanage and she never explained why she was so sure he was the dad.

▪️So obviasly Ed accepted that must be the truth... nah, he did an DNA test. BUT while this all was happening Ed was on the high of having figure out Batman's identity (and by extension the whole batfam) and wanted to do the same with other super heros, namely Superman. That resulted in a fight with Query and Echo about how Superman was totaly going to kill Eddie (and just him, cause no way they were going to help him figth Superman).

▪️The fight scaleted to them accusing him of having a compulsion with finding answers (he had just accepted his compulsion for riddles he was not accepting another one) and he saying he didn't and he had made all the calculations of how to confront an angry Superman.

▪️So to prove he didn't had a compulsion and therefor was not doing his dumb Superman plot because he stopped taking his meds he destroyed the results of the DNA test. And them had a panic attack because he was in a compulsive episode.

Echo: Calm down, boss, you can take another test.

Riddler: *panicking on the floor*how would I even explain that I need new DNA? why did I even do that? what's wrong with me?

Query: Uh... Actualy I was curious and looked at the results early.

Riddler: *calming a little* and?

Query: Er... congratulations you're a dad?

Riddler: fuck.

*later*

Echo: You did not saw the results at all did you?

Query: Nope. Eddie is too guilable sometimes.

Echo: So why did you said it was positive?

Query: He isn't planing a suicide mission against Superman anymore, is he.

Echo: I love you soo much when you're scheming.

▪️In conclusion Ed thinks he is her dad and that's enough. Is he? Who know? He is her father figure for sure.

▫️Riddler has no idea how to be a dad. He treats her as a friend and spoils her soo much. They also have petty verbal arguments. He will tell everyone about how amazing she is as long as she does anything. He considers her sucesses another reason for why he is the best. And will talk her up at any chance.

▫️She goes by Ella as a civilian name (and El so to not conflict wifh Duela) because Ed absolutly refuses to register her as Enigma Nygma. Not even he is this tacky. She does chooses Ella because she is kindda of a Duela fangirl.

▫️Her reason to join the group was because she has a crush on Duela. She told it was so the world would recognize her superior intellect, but eh, she doesn't care about what dumb people think of her and as long as Ed keeps hypping her up to everyone (because if she is great he is by extension) she is cool. That being said she loves to prove Ethan wrong ever time he says he is the smart one.

▫️She is a bad conspiracy theorist and her conspiracy pall is Bernard. Cue Tim laughing and Ed dying in the background as Enigma and Bernard discuss how that famous pilot Hal Jordan is totaly Batman. Her friendship with Bernard is a bit of a problem to Tim though.

▫️She is fifteen and the group's baby. She is as cringe as her supposed dad with the bonus of being a bad conspiracy theorist and being on the teenage phase were she thinks insulting people/cursing is cool and mature.

▫️She may once have selled Ed's antidepressants as drugs to Ethan and Duela, but on her defence she though her dad was just addicted and that was why he took the pills. He had an episode. It was the only time Query and Echo were pissed with her.

4. Kid Shark

▫️In this universe King Shark isn't dead. Instead he raises his son to lead a more pacefull life than the one he had.

▫️He was raised in Atlantis, with ocassional visists from Aquaman to keep his dad in check. While he dislikes Aquaman, he has to admit he finds his dad other rival - Superboy - to be really cool.

▫️He is mostly a soft zem guy, though he has some anger issues and can enter in very violent rages.

▫️He is 19 (he lives human years and not shark years because of the whole quarter-god thing). He moved to Gotham to apply to college and socialize outside Atlantis. He also wants to figth Superboy one day.

▫️He joined the club because he saw as an opportunity to make friends and get some cash.

▫️Besides being the Strong One, he is definitivaly the Heart of the group being super sweet when not enraged. That being said he sees no value on the lifes of people he doesn't care about and is fine being a vilan.

▫️After seeing Batgirl (Cassandra) fighting he really wants to face her in combat.

So you’re considering watching RWBY

Or you’re trying to convince someone else to watch it

(I made another similar post about this a while back)

But you/they aren’t sure. Something is holding you/them back. Like:

“But the animation n stuff is SO BAD!” - Sure. In the beginning it’s not great (though many of us now look back on those early volumes with fondness.) But you have to understand, RWBY started as a passion project at a small company with a budget of like $20 (yes I’m exaggerating but STILL.) They simply didn’t have the funds for good animation. But, after volume 3 came out, the show became a literal international hit and so the budget increased. And, subsequently, so did the animation quality. You can see that progression easily enough here. The quality goes from this:

“It looks stupid and childish!” - Yeah, in the beginning it’s meant to seem silly. And it still has its cartoonishly silly moments later on too. But those silly moments are meant to soften the blow of the PAIN. Because, while RWBY starts off as a silly, “good always triumphs over evil” slice of life magic academy type show it does not STAY that. There is PAIN. LOTS OF IT! If you keep watching, you’ll find out within like 6 hrs worth of watching that it’s not just some silly slice of life show. There is a complete 180 along the way when you find out what RWBY is truly about. The show actually delves into some pretty heavy stuff. PTSD, abuse, neglect, abandonment issues, alcoholism, loss, the inability to move on from loss for some, and more. For more on this, check out this post.

“I saw some stuff on Twitter/Tumblr/Youtube about how bad it is.” - That’s because there are ppl out there who want the show to be something it’s not. Or they got upset when things didn’t happen the way they wanted. Like Blacksun shippers or Adam and Ironwood Stans. Or they just want to shit on something. But EVERY show has its haters. Every piece of media has its haters. And they like to be loud edgelords about it. Sometimes just to be controversial and pick a fight. But that doesn’t mean shit. There are ppl out there who absolutely hate your favorite pieces of media, whether you’re aware of it or not. And that doesn’t stop you from liking it, does it? Don’t let a few haters prevent you from potentially finding your new favorite thing. Because there are a LOT of ppl out there who absolutely LOVE this show.

“I tried watching the first few episodes and I just... Couldn’t.” - Dude, I get it. Trust me. I did the same exact thing when I started watching. I watched the first couple of episodes and literally turned it off. But then I saw a few ppl posting about it here on Tumblr a while later and gave it a second shot on a whim. And BOY did it not disappoint when I got far enough in (and yes, that took a minute.) Mind you, this was back when Volume 3 was originally airing, so the drastic improvements in animation hadn’t happened yet. But I stuck with it anyways. And now look at me. But the show does take a while to really ramp up, so to speak. The beat doesn’t DROP until a bit later on in volume 3.

But, if you enjoy character growth and analysis, then you will most likely enjoy this show. The number of analyses on Tumblr and prolly Twitter as well are MANY. The main 4 characters are badass ladies learning how to fight and deal with life. Every character in the show is based on either a fairy tale, mythology, history, pop culture, etc. (sometimes they have multiple allusions to different degrees) and teasing out those details on top of everything else is quite fun if you enjoy searching for Easter eggs, significant imagery, foreshadowing, parallels, and so on. Interesting villains too. Not just the standard “Evil Witch because she’s evil with henchmen” thing. But fleshed out villains that have their Reasons™️. Like “Cinderella took so much abuse as a kid/teenager that she fucking snapped” type reasons. There is SO MUCH you can delve into with this show if you want to. Details as small as a whale statue in Gepetto’s office, or Belle reading a book with a candelabrum that looks like Lumiere, or characters wearing the colors of the person they love, or characters having eyes the color of their love’s aura (an extension of their soul.) SO MANY PLACES TO FIND THESE DETAILS. Including the lyrics to the music.

Which leads me to the music in this show is freaking AWESOME. And if you can’t appreciate that Casey Lee Williams has been singing in these soundtracks since she was like 13 or 14 (and listening to how she’s grown as a musician throughout it all to the point where she is now one of the music leads for the show) then I don’t know what to tell you. The music is all produced in house. And the lyrics reflect that. Each song is from the perspective of a RWBY character (or like team RWBY in general, depending on the song) and the lyrics give insights either about the characters or about stuff in the show (lore, foreshadowing, etc.) And they’re as fun to analyze as they are to jam out to.

The writing is FANTASTIC. Is it perfect? No. Of course not. They made mistakes along the way. Prolly will make some more. But every piece of media does to some extent. People aren’t perfect and so neither are their creations. But those imperfections don’t outweigh how amazing the story they’ve woven is. The writers of RWBY constantly subvert expectations in a BRILLIANT way. Not in a “wtf?? Where did that come from?” sort of way. But in a “OMG! Now that I go back and watch this again it makes SO MUCH SENSE” sort of way. And things that happen in early volumes actually COME BACK to affect things later. The show doesn’t just MOVE ON. The writers have been playing the long game this whole time. And rewatches will almost always show new details and foreshadowing you might have missed before.

Also, it GAY. And it’s THE major romance of the show. Not just a side story. And the voice actors are the Captains of the Ship! And it’s a beautifully written slow burn romance (amongst other romances also in the show) with yearning and pining for DAYS. I believe it was Monty who said, “Good romance is earned.” And boy are they earning it!

So, in short, FUCKING WATCH RWBY.

DAMMIT.

Just thinking about how some Bumbleby fans insist their ship is superior to ships like Freezerburn and shouldn't be criticized because their ship is canon, and how they'll be like "Bumbleby is canon, Freezerburn never would've happened and you're delusional for thinking it."

A. It's a little like the "people say Rwby is a bad show, but it's actually popular" thing, where it's like, whether or not the ship is canon has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the ship is good or well written or non-toxic or any of that.

B. I really do think that one reason why people think "mine is canon and yours isn't" is a convincing argument, or like a hurtful thing to say to people who ship a rival ship like Freezerburn or Blacksun is because of the anti-criticism push in the fandom and the villainization of rwde. Saying you want a different ship to be canon is skating really close to saying you think the writers shouldn't have done the thing that they did, after all. And meanwhile, the anti-criticism push in the fandom has resulted in this thing where 'it's canon' is meant to be kind of a last word on things, or 'it's what the writers wanted' or 'here's what the writers want us to think' is used like they're meant to be argument ending and undebatable. Because the fandom at large's anti-rwde expectations means that the writers are always supposed to be right and that the fans are just supposed to accept and like everything that the writers do or say with a smile. Like, the most you're allowed to say without getting labeled 'rwde' and therefore an evil, bad faith horrible person is 'that change wasn't what I personally would've wanted, but it's still great.' People get harassed and sent hate for saying that the writers make mistakes or shouldn't have done something they did. So of course some bees fans think that saying "well Bumbleby is canon and the writers never would've gone with Freezerburn" is going to make people feel badly or is going to make them rethink their own shipping preferences. Of course some bees fans feel better about their ship themselves simply because they can say it's what the writers wanted, so when they see a post about how a different ship had better development they can reassure themselves by sending the person messages telling them "that ship isn't canon and my ship is canon, hahaha."

C. The way the writers talk very much so implies that they're easily swayed by fandom opinion. For example, recently they were talking about Neo and how they essentially killed her off in the end and how they viewed her as irredeemable, but one reason they gave her a more sympathetic end and had her 'bow out' was because a lot of people liked her character a lot. And that isn't a one off occurrence. The writers often talk about how the audience reacts to things and how they've tried to work through audience complaints (badly, but that's a complaint for another post.) So, I'm supposed to believe that bumbleby becoming canon had absolutely nothing at all to do with it being the most popular ship in rwby (and again, popularity doesn't equal quality) and that if Freezerburn hadn't been more popular, they wouldn't have gone with it? I don't believe that. 'Planned from the beginning' or not, the writers carry things out or change things based on the fandom already, so idk why I should exalt bumbleby as the superior ship just because they're canon. Arkos is canon too, that doesn't mean I have to like Arkos or like it more than shipping Jaune with Ren and Nora or shipping Jaune with Neptune. Renora is canon too, that doesn't mean it's inherently superior to Sugar Rush and that there's nothing to complain about in how the writers wrote Ren and Nora's relationship. XD

I ship Han with Leia in Star Wars, I've liked them since I was a kid. Imagine if I went up to perfect strangers who shipped Han with Luke and was talking to people about wishing they'd gone with Han and Luke, and I was like "haha, the ship that I like is canon and yours isn't! Luke and Han was never gonna happen, you delusional idiot!" That'd be not only asshole behavior, but it'd also be totally irrelevant to the conversation and completely meaningless to the person who clearly already knows what ship is canon.

So yeah, tl;dr version of this is: Ships that are canon aren't inherently superior to ships that aren't canon. The writers are swayed by the fandom anyway, so it could've just as easily been freezerburn if it was more popular and popular doesn't mean good. The anti-rwde, anti-criticism stuff in the fandom is one big reason why these shipping wars even continue and why some bees fans feel so superior about their ship. And it's entirely irrelevant to discussions of quality to brag about a ship's canon status.

Absolutely!!

Blacksun

Sun’s not a big reader, but has absolutely no qualms letting Blake lean back against his chest while she sits and reads. Sometimes he’ll make her tea and wrap themselves up in blankets while she does this. Sun typically ends up falling asleep like this.

Sun likes to bring home books that he’s heard would be right up Blake’s alley. Blake has asked him to stop for a while cause she has a whole pile she’s trying to get through now. She looks at the pile and smiles though because she knows it’s only because he was thinking of her.

Let’s be honest… Sun does not give off good cook vibes. And Blake likely only learned basics just to survive. When they have time off of missions, they go to cooking classes together.

Building off the cooking classes, Blake feels bad because she thinks she doesn’t do enough for Sun. So she’s trying to learn how to cook his favorite foods, she’s just not very good yet. Sun’s fine with it, he insists her being safe and happy is more than enough for him.

When they topic of having kids comes up, Blake is uncertain about if she could be a good mother. Sun doesn’t push but does assure her that when she’s ready, she would be a great mother. Eventually they have Mika Wukong, a raccoon Faunus.

Rosegarden

Oscar is 100% a great cook and Ruby is definitely a great baker. They aren’t professionals or anything but their house has a special kitchen with multiple ovens. They move around eachother in the kitchen like a well choreographed dance.

Both were pretty awkward at first when it came to displays of affection, and honestly still are. Oscar will kiss Ruby’s cheek and she’ll be a blushing mess. Ruby will hold his hand and he’ll instantly be flustered.

Their dates consist of lots of outdoors stuff. Hiking, camping, picnics, etc.

While Sun gets Blake physical books, because that’s what Blake prefers, Ruby prefers audio books since Yang always read to her as a kid. Oscar got her a kindle one year for her birthday and a handful of money earned from their missions goes directly to new books. She’ll play the books while her and Oscar cook and bake.

WhiteKnight

In combat, they fight together like a well oiled machine and cover each other’s weaknesses. At home, it’s the exact same. Jaune does most of the housework but isn’t real good when it comes to finances. Weiss is smart as a whip at finances but is terrible at housework. Weiss does help Jaune where she can though, and vice versa.

Weiss is absolutely not a morning person, but Jaune is. She stumbled out of bed once at 4am to Jaune doing workouts.

Jaune cannot make coffee to save his life, but Weiss somehow always makes the best tasting coffee he’s ever had.

Weiss has no interest in living in a large house full of empty space, and due to Atlas falling, her and Jaune built their house together, perfect size for just the two of them.

From Weiss’ experience growing up and Jaune growing in a house filled with siblings, neither are in a rush to have children… not that they’re opposed to the idea should something unplanned happen. And it does. Weiss becomes determined to give it the childhood she was robbed of. She hopes if they have multiple, they’ll get along better than her, Winter, and Whitley did growing up.

Unless there's a behind the scenes reveal by one of the writers after RT goes bankrupt we will never know for sure what made bumblebee happen but I think the simplest answer is the correct one. They planned blacksun as the first placeholder ship but never fully committed to it. Then bumblebee rapidly outpaced the former in popularity and on top of that was also LGBTQ. Not a hard choice after that.

honestly, if you want my take... lgbt ships are kiiiinda really overrated at this point. everyone knows you just throw it in for relevancy points even if it doesn't make any sense and offends all of your loyal viewers.

i kid i kid.

i think bs was the original intention. monty never saw team rwby as a pair of fuck-buddies. he wanted them to be sisters, and that means they would eventually date other people.

this is why creators should not cave to the vocal majority if they're asking for something that doesn't make sense to the story. they need to stay on their own course and do their story the way they want regardless if (some of the bad) fans like it or not.

Bumbleby - 4/4. Cute and with delicious angst potential

Lancaster - 1/4. I prefer them as friends

Arkos - 3/4. I love them cause they’re so tragic.

blacksun - 3/4. It’s sweet, I guess. If I had a nickel for every tall hot blonde that Blake was into, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.

White rose - 2/4. Same as above, but they are adorable

Rosegarden - 2/4. They’re super supportive of each other and Oscar definitely has a crush. More of a qpr.

Renora - 4/4. I love them so much. Especially when ren booped Nora.

Nuts and dolts - 4/4. Vol 8 & 9 convinced me. They both give me ace vibes, which is always a plus.

Cloqwork - 2/4. They had a thing but not since Oscar.

Ironqrow - 2/4. While I liked they’re hug scene, I just don’t like ironwood as much.

fairgame - 3/4. I ship it cause I want good things for Qrow. If clover had survived they’d have such deliciously angsty interactions.

Taiqrow - 4/4. I was sold on them by watching Rwby chibi. They have such strong married couple energy. And you can milk so much angst.

Hummingbird - 1/4. I hate the Qrow is ruby’s dad theory.

Salem x ozpin. - 0/4. I don’t know what they’re ship name is but I hate it. Cause, it’s just a genderswapped version of a woman concerned with her husbands increasing brutality, and trying to run to safety with her kids only for him to kill them all, and play victim. It’s fine if you ship it, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Rodimus wasn't ready to be a creator P7

Masterlist

If someone were to ask Rodimus, back in the day when he just recently left behind the name of Hot Rod, how it felt to be a holder of the Matrix, he would say that it was like being crushed open by your own circuits while being forged again in order to give it a space that wasn't been asked first, it was demanded and his body only listened to the Matrix orders, so, it was a living nightmare at the moment and it really hurt, but Primus what he couldn't give to get the title again (without the carnage, body horror, brutal responsibility placed on his young self, the monstrous anxiety and an auto destructive war, pretty please).

However, he couldn't change what he had.

"Who you love the most?"

"Baba!"

No idea what or who Sunset was referring to, but Primus if it didn't make his spark go all wild for every little thing the little bot was doing in that little human attire you got for him in the last visit to a human settlement.

"Baba" funny thing, Sunset had something close to spit so maybe when he gets older he could eat, just as organics did, but for now he really liked to nimble in his digits or Rodimus', saying baba all the time because some human in the crew said the word, apparently it was spanish, and Sunset liked it, so he kept on saying it.

This moment, while being in the floor with one servo holding his smiling son and touching his still soft frame, was something that he couldn't trade for the world.

Now when Rodimus heard some bots laughing about some pretty funny young bots thirsting over a war hero in Swerve's, he is the first to go and see what is happening, know a little bit more about the gossip and maybe laugh about these young bots with a cup of engex, tease them because they were part of his crew now, and he kind of had the right to do so as the co-capitan.

Paint him surprised, and slightly horrified, when among those young bots, most from Luna 1, he finds his son, the whole group giving what you once referred as "heart eyes" to the war hero that was singing in the bar.

And of fragging course it had to be Jazz.

Jazz and his daughter.

Rodimus was of open mind, really, he really is of open mind, he had you, his dear junxie in the allspark and his techno-organic son were his better example of open mind, Ratchet and Drift were another example, and whatever hot mess Brainstorm was planning to do with Perceptor, what's more! if Megatron and Minimus started dating by some miracle no one would hear a word of complain from him! He would only cringe in the corner.

He doesn't have anything against Jazz, he likes the bot, a bot that is happily married to his human companion and has three wonderful kids!

Maybe is the idea of Sunny growing up, developing feelings and... and physical attraction to others which is totally normal, he also got through it in his cadet days, he wasn't innocent when he finally tied the knock with you, his conjunx, and he knows everything about little escapades here and there with you when your relationship was still young.

His baby is growing after all, he must accept that, it's kind of difficult, Sunset was once just so little that you could carry him around in your tiny arms, you even dressed him in clothes from time to time (Rodimus still can't find that little beanie that Sunset loved while being a protoform), but life goes on.

...

"Sunny!"

Blacksun's whole body jumps on his seat, quickly looking in his direction, desperate and angry red optics with promises of a painful and slow death while he looks at him, his new friends and the object of his adoration in turns, he just wants him to shut the hell up.

"Sunny, my sparkling! What do you say about spending some time with your father?"

He growled, his baby really growled at him while showing his dentae, it's not the first time it happens, but it's the first in public.

Oh, right, Sunny doesn't like it when he talks in human terms with him, and saying "father" out loud shouldn't be a problem if it was only the crew that has know him since his first steps were present, but now they have the newbies of Luna 1d New Cybertron, young bots that his son wants to befriend since the moment they got in the ship, being quite frantic to call him "mentor" or "sire", the first time that he did so Rodimus's data pad falled of his servos by the shock, Sunny always called him "dad", "papa" when he was so little and you just thought him to talk, his first word (for Rodimus the times when he said "baba" doesn't count).

He really wants to be part of a social group, befriend someone from his age, almost not caring from which one, not since he couldn't be accepted by others back on earth, and that is showing in how he finally uses his T-cog to get to his alt-mode, big claws ready to jump at him, wings in full display and fire venting from his intake showing his fury.

That was Rodimus signal to transform and accelerate as far as he could, the corridor was too variant in size for Blacksun's wings to get into and his pedes were too slow to move his big body.

An hour and a glass of flavored energon juice later, the beast was finally placated while drinking from a straw, looking really pissed with Rodimus and his speech of how it was bad to look at some mechs like that.

"I don't want to hear about relationships when you had more than one adventure with several mechs, femmes and Decepticon warlords!"

"Wait a minute I didn't -"

"Uncle Drift-"

"Wait, we weren't-"

"Mister Cyclonus-"

"That's in the past and we were only friends! Primus..."

"Shì, sí, of course"

Why did his son had to be so infuriating, and why did he still hear and remember about his previous things that in reality never reached to something?

"So much modesty..."

"Hey, I didn't throw optics to any bot who already had a conjunx endura"

The silence and tired optics of his son makes him ex-vent, not believing a word he says while crossing his arms over his chassis.

"Okay, not since I meet your mother or I learned those bots had a conjunx"

Blacksun looks at him before finally accepting his answer as good enough, for now.

"I mean, I'm only looking, respectfully, and from distance, he is quite a sight for sore eyes, just like high commander Thunderclash-"

"STOP! Stop right there before I start to leak energon through my optics, I'm begging you!"

His baby was growing, Rodimus wished so hard to have you here by his side, telling him how everything was going to be alright like the very first time that he had the inner force to take Sunset on his servos without the creeping fear at the possibility of squashing him by accident, turns out, his fears were stupid, looking at the little bean search for his digits while sleeping in his palm, he can still hear your voice in his left audial, seated on his shoulder armor and telling him that, yes, he was doing an excellent job while Sunset started to coo at him.

His tiny baby, as you always called Sunset, was no longer one, and he finally understood, after years of looking at his son why cybertronians didn't had something similar to human childhood.

Rodimus believes, deep in his spark, that is to prevent any mentor, sire, carrier or parent of the suffering of see their gift growing up so fast that it makes one dizzy.

It's Rosegarden Week, and I'm not much of a artist or writer (to all the RG fic writers and fanartists out there I am blowing each of you a little kiss, thank you) so I'm just gonna gush about this ship instead:

Do you ever think about Rosegarden and it's potential to work within the overall story and Ruby's character arc? Because it's just. Ruby's just this incredibly kind and selfless heroic individual, almost to her own detriment in prioritising everyone else's emotions and wellbeing over her own. Her making sure everyone gets their happy ending is Ruby's happy ending. Essentially defining her sense of self in how much she can give or do for others. Not ever asking or wanting anything for herself.

Which is very admirable:

Blake: (laughing a little) And why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?

Ruby: Well, I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!

Blake: That's... very ambitious for a child. (her smile turns into a frown) Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale.

Ruby: Well, that's why we're here! To make it better. (1x03)

Yang: I'm not like Ruby, she's always wanted to be a Huntress. It's like she said, ever since she was a kid, she'd dreamt about being the heroes in the books. Helping people and saving the day, and never asking for anything else in return. (2x10)

But at the same time, it's important to have a life outside of that and to take time for yourself and your own wants and needs as well:

Ozpin: Well, you can't spend your whole life on the battlefield, even if you may want to.

Ruby: (crossing her arms, looking annoyed) Yeah, that lesson's been floating around a lot lately.

Ozpin: (staring out at the dancing couples) If you think about it, fighting and dancing aren't so different. Two partners interlocked, although one wrong move on the ballroom merely leads to a swollen foot. (2x07)

It's interesting how Ozpin compares fighting to dancing when looking out at the dancing couples in this scene, most of which foreshadow the romantic relationships in the show like Arkos/Renora/Blacksun/Bumbleby. And while Ruby does not dance with anyone in V2, the only person we have seen her "fighting" aka casually sparring one-on-one with in the main series, (like Pyrrha/Jaune used to) is Oscar.

Fighting with a partner=Dancing with a partner=Romantic Foreshadowing (...I just realised Emerald and Mercury technically do both in the series. Do with that what you will.)

And I feel like Ruby developing romantic feelings for Oscar could be a way for her to learn to be more selfish, in the sense of... wanting something for herself, and could be an interesting way to foil her to Salem, as the main heroine/villain of the story respectively.

Salem, who began the conflict of the story in confronting the Gods, learning to be more selfless and let Ozma (the first incarnation) go, in doing so allowing herself to grieve properly and coming to understand the importance of the balance of life and death, thus breaking her own curse of immortality and being able to unite with Ozma in the afterlife . Ruby, who will likely be the one to end the conflict and confront the Gods, who needs to learn to be more selfish, would have a more personal and selfish motive to do so. Not just to act as the selfless heroine and making sure everyone gets their happy ending (which she already is), but also a desire to have her own happy ending too. Wanting to be with Oscar (the last incarnation) and to restore him as his own person as such. (if Oscar ended up sacrificing himself to the merge by using magic or having fully merged over time).

In shorter terms, Ozma (and consequently all the past lives) is dead, and should be left to rest and pass on (by Salem), while Oscar is alive and should be allowed to live his own life (with Ruby). Death and Life. Life and Death. It works, thematically speaking.

Salem's love of Ozma and refusal to accept his death because she wanted a life with him that leads to her confronting the Gods, which is the ignition spark for the entire conflict of the series in the present along with Salem and Oz's curse of reincarnation/immortality And just...the idea of there being a future parallel with Ruby and Salem if she developed romantic feelings for Oscar, and refusal to lose him to the merge (because she'd want him to remain his own person) but that instead being the spark to resolve the stories' central conflict, not just fighting against Salem and protecting the Kingdoms/Relics (which she's already doing), but giving her a more personal, selfish reason to put an end to it for good. To eventually confront the Gods herself and have them let Oz and Salem rest, not just to save the world, but so Oscar is free to live as his own person so she can be with him, like how Salem wanted to be with Ozma.

It just feels very much like coming full circle, and that's very satisfying to me. (even if I know most of the FNDM would get very upsetti spaghetti at the idea of Ruby falling in love with an icky gross boy being part of her arc)

One thing I’ll never get is the obsession blacksun shippers have with blacksun being canon. I’ve never been too big on shipping myself, but I do enjoy any pairing within good reason. But blacksun shippers act like having your ship be non canon is the worst thing in the world when it’s not. They can still like and ship their ship regardless. Blake and Sun just didn’t work out romantically and that’s okay. This kind of thing happens all the time in shows with multiple love interests. So I never understand why some blacksun shippers don’t understand that and think just because Sun was the first to flirt with Blake mean it would guarantee him ending up with her, when that’s not true

But really, the main issue is how blacksun shippers make it their entire personality to complain non-stop about blacksun and constantly bother bumbleby shippers by stalking their tags and looking through their posts and they always end up making themselves mad when it could have been avoided. And I kid you not looking at some of these blacksun shippers blogs the only thing they ever talk about is complaining about bumbleby and what bumbleby shippers say, it’s quite obsessive

There’s better use for your time I swear because one day when rwby is truly over, no one will give a shit and everyone will find another show to obsess over

Some Unconnected Ramblings on RWBY V9E6

So i bit the bullet and watched the Bees episode, Im still not entirely certain i'll watch the seasons I missed or watch future episodes as im not certain it'd be good for my mental health, but I needed to see the bees at least. I dont have much of an opinion on the bees tbh, the scene was good in execution if clunky in its inclusion. Yangs little wiggle-skip on the first step was absolutely adorable, The pairing works and its nice to see RT have the balls to go for it, even if i dont actually believe the people claiming it was "planned for certain" from the start. (i believe it was planned in potentia, but kept with deliberate deniability in case of backlash with Blacksun and YangXSomeoneElse as emergency fallback options)

You know, i kind of like how Jaune treats the cat. Like i dont agree with any of it, but it makes sense for the character and narative. Like, its clear that he's projecting more then just his own insecurities. He's projecting his experiences with every other authorityfigure in the known universe onto them.

From Ironwood's sociopathic sacrifice of the innocent. Lionhearts treacherous sacrficice of hundreds of hunters Ozpins manipulation and willing sacrifice of Pyrrha.

Jaune has literally no reason to believe that anyone in any position of authority or power could ever choose NOT to sacrifice the innocent for their own dubious, nebulous goals. and i sort of respect it as a narrative direction. (I acknowledge its not a healthy worldview to have, skepticism is healthy and good, cynicism is toxic and kills the soul). I just hope that JRWBY can dig him out of the cynicism before the story turns him into fallen hero territory.

I also dont think that Jaunes story is the "truth", but unlike most comments people make about it. About how he's working with incomplete data, making wrong assumptions about which twin lived, assuming malice in acts that might be different within context, and the clear show of how a decade of hindsight has tainted his view of Alix's childish naivete into an image of horrid sociopathy. Everyones talked about all of these.

but the thing i find most interesting is how he's seemingly slandering himself in his retelling.

As he retells the story, he makes it sound like he was less a guide and protector painted in the fairytale then a particularly railroad-heavy DungeonMaster, as if he was overly controlling and downright manipulative in his handling of the kids. Meanwhile we the audience know for a fact that Jaune is a good person at heart, and Jaune is demonstrably great with kids (as long as said kids arent possessed by a thousand-year old sociopath, Liches' Georg is an outlier and should not be counted). And we know Jaune was verry well aware of the dangers of the Everafter, just one misstep, one wrong tree touched and he lost decades of his life. Clearly we can reconstruct that he wasn't this shady figure he was painting himself as, he was a worried adult trying to protect two naive children from an inherintly hostile ecosystem where any whimsy the children acted on could verry well have seen them shrunk, aged, otherwise altered or possibly killed outright.

But decades of grief have tainted his own selfimage to such a degree he now believes himself to have been this malicious parasite on the kids adventure.

Also i like how he has a point about the Reincarnation-amnesia=death of personality thing. Like yeah, even if the soul continues to exist, without the memories its not really the same person.

I dont think Alice "poisoned" jaune, i think Alice cooked them all dinner using EverAfter ingredients, served Jaune first while having a talk over dinner and just played with her food long enough to see Jaune faint from poison. (before a Punderstorm/Jabberwalker/Other threat forced them to move on without him).

I dont believe him for one second when he says the cat is some sort of psychopomp, and i definitly think the cat returned to him after the twins went missing because the cat was legitimately worried about the nice and helpfull guy who'd just ate poison.

I do believe the cat is weird though, like its ability to subjegate free will is shady and creepy, its design screams "I am definitly the crown reforged into a new sentient entity by the blacksmith". I think the cat used the smith and/or tree to free itself from its godly prison, and is in essence the only "free genie" amongst the four.

I'm betting most of us got over blacksun a long time ago. We know where things are heading and Sun hasn't appeared in literally years. But bees doesn't deserve to be handled with kid gloves. Expect nothing less than ridicule and criticism for an overrated ship that's a symptom of bad writing.

-Has semblance to manipulate the wind with her fan blades.

-Loves her younger brother, but tried to reprimand him from getting into mischief.

Kai Wukong:

-Kind of teen boy who cracks jokes.

-Best friends with Tristan Vasilias and done pranks on their classmates and teachers.

-He and Tristan are childhood friends with Dana Coal and the three are like the personification of the three Musketeers.

-Sometimes disobedient.

-Teased his older sister sometimes.

-In a band with Tristan and Dana.

-Athletics that makes good used in the gymnastics team.

Blacksun is great on its own. But it's also sad knowing there will never be blacksun babies in the picture. Imagine them as a happy family with kids who have inherited traits from both parents. Cute!

Yeah, it's a shame. but i think since rwby has probably been cancelled, we can take comfort in the fact that there will never be any demon spawn from bumbleby, either.

That reminds me, i should put my blacksun daughter on this blog at some point...

If you know anything about me at all, you know I am obsessed with Black Sun. I read it last year and could not, would not shut up about it. And still won’t. It’s at least 25% of my DNA at this point. So, needless to say, Fevered Star was my most anticipated read of this year and…I was not disappointed. This was a stunning follow up after *that ending* to Black Sun. Without giving too much away, I think Fevered Star gives us a lot of much needed context that we didn’t fully get in the first book which I really appreciated. I love that we’re really dealing with the social and political ramifications of the first book’s ending and seeing everyone’s reactions to what once seemed unthinkable. Rebecca Roanhorse knows how to write characters, you hear me? Fully fleshed out, deep, complicated folks with a wide array of representation and I love it. Also yes, I am a Serapio apologist and no, once again, I’m not taking any criticisms at this time. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with my life as I wait on the next book.
