So okay, (I'm bad at English so, I don't thinks this might be well understod but, please excuse it :'u) this actually came from me watching TOH while eating so.

Just think of it, where all Teyvat's knows about this mystic and graceful creature that is always near the Traveler and their little rare pixie. They know that a unknown creature even above their gods is traveling with the (far to nice) foreign.

They don't know how they look, they don't know how they act or even how they sound like, but they can feel them. A warm hug filled with curiosity and dearly affection.

Maybe they won't make a whole new religion for that new god, but they might pray them instead of their own Archons for very important wishes. Hoping for an instant, you'll hear them.

And even the Archons are cool with it!!! Since the Traveler came to Teyvat, everyone feels that love biting their skin in a childish way.

They imagine you like a benevolent and playful deity, a charming and elegant being that helps even with the most harmful missions, just for save them.

Just for make them smile again.

And there's you! A (probably) neurdivergent queer kid who might be not fully North American and is obsessed with fantasy and writing fanfics about your parental figures.

Yeah, you might get to intense when is about them. But hey, even Jesus doubt.

One of my hottest food takes is the fact that I have a very specific taste towards cheese. But in general I don't like it. Imagine how devastated the cheese market would be. Why Buddie *isn’t* Destiel:

Let’s start with the stuff working against Buddie. Then move on to the things I believe give Buddie a much better shot at becoming canon than Destiel ever did. It’s a tad bit long:

So. Yes. The two ships do have a a lot in common. And yes, Buddie is a longshot for a lot of the same reasons Destiel was. 

Bi men aren’t really a thing on tv (especially not NETWORK tv), Dean and Buck were both introduced as huuuuuuuuuge fans of banging women with never a single unambiguous mention of them ever having dated or even being attracted to men. Only little wink/nudge moments played off as humor (”so does this boy-crush on Eddie mean . . .”) , or the characters giving each other “heart eyes,” a thing which can easily seen as a silent expression of deep fondness/admiration/trust/platonic love, whatever. None of the characters “seem bisexual” ie, they don’t conform to your typical network tv depictions or stereotypes of non-straight men. 

They all have “masculine” jobs (as opposed to something either soft and mellow, or flamboyant and performative). The real “guy guy” type characters are generally meant to be seen as 1000% straight. This applies less to Cas than the other 3 men as he’s technically not human, but he does present as male, and even though he did end the series with a big ‘I love you’ moment to Dean, the line didn’t address how he loved Dean. And since Cas didn’t say ‘I’m in love with you,’ nor did Dean say it back, as far as series canon goes Destiel was never explicitly Romantic Love. You could interpret it that way extremely easily, but it was never overt series canon. 

They’re both hugely popular non-canon fandom ships (and in buddie’s case, growing in fandom popularity every day).

The creators and cast have made comments acknowledging said popularity  with vague comments like “it’s a really special dynamic,” “we’re glad the audience can interpret blahblahblah,” “the fanart is soooooo great,” or “we love the enthusiasm.” That kind of wishy washy shit. Sure, some of the actors will make overtly pro-ship comments, but they always (and for good reason) clarify that the writers/producers haven’t told them anything either way.

OKAY. SO. On to what makes Buddie different from Destiel. (and why I’m optimistic)

Number one is timing. As in: how many years have we had with a character being played a certain way? By the time Cas appeared in SPN, they were 4 seasons in, and Dean had been portrayed as the typical “boobies, boobies, all the boobies; I will immediately hit on any and all hot women,” etc. Yes, Buck began 911 as basically that exact same guy--but ‘that guy’ only lasted a single season. Eddie shows up at the top of S2, so we haven’t already had multiple previous seasons of “Ladie’s Man” Buck. And that makes it easier to bend and adapt his character--or to reveal major character traits not previously mentioned.

Two: Cas was introduced in a way that didn’t evoke anything romantic or sexual at all. He was there on a mission from GOD. Utterly asexual insofar as his interactions with Dean (despite the insane sexual chemistry going on, in the show’s ‘maintext’ nothing about Cas’s character had anything to do with sex or romance) Meanwhile, when Eddie showed up on 911 literally the first thing said about him was Chim’s line “Now that is a beautiful man,” a comment followed by “Whatta Man” playing while Eddie put on his shirt. In slow motion. While Buck kinda . . . stared? So in stark contrast to Cas’s first moments on SPN, Eddie’s 911 intro was. . . . well, let’s see . . . the soundtrack is a blatantly sexual song . . . slo-mo shirtlessness . . . Chim’s “beautiful man” comment . . . all of those things present Eddie in an overtly sexual context right away.

Three: With Destiel, despite their intense screen chemistry, Cas and Dean took the better part of a season to really really bond. Whereas Buddie were joined-at-the-hip besties by the end of Eddie’s 1st episode--when less than 30 episodes of the series had aired. Yes, the sexual chemistry between Cas and Dean may have been palpable from minute one, but the emotional bond between Buck and Eddie happened almost right away. Much faster than with Destiel. And they became involved in one another’s personal lives a lot faster, too. 

Four: On 911 neither Buck nor Eddie ever vanish for many episodes at a time, whereas Cas’s character on SPN dipped in and out. He might be there for several episodes in a row . . . or he might only show up a few times in whole season. So by default Buck and Eddie have more screentime together to continue fleshing out that bond. Establishing the Buckley-Diaz family. 

Five: On SPN, introducing long term love interests for either brother would have busted up the central dynamic driving the show. Much as I used to love Destiel, for five entire seasons Sam and Dean were the central, laser-focused relationship in the show. Sure it may have been a co-dependent and often unhealthy bond, but it was the foundation on which the entire series was built. That’s a really tough dynamic to wedge a love interest into without upsetting the whole balance of the show. Cut to 911: no single character or relationship is the “laser focus” of the whole series. Every character in the ensemble has their own storyline. And thus far, no two characters are toxically codependent on one another. They’re all fleshed out as independent entities. 

Six: (related to point five) If either of the actors playing Buck or Eddie landed a huge movie roll, or asked to be written out for personal reasons, or fucked up so bad they had to be fired? It wouldn’t torch the entire show. Bobby, Athena, Hen, Maddie (even Buck or Eddie if only one of them was written out) . . . the show would go on without Buddie. Or without any one character. Whereas if either Jensen or Jared had decided to quit SPN at any point? Well shit, there goes the show! Finished. Donezo. 

In conclusion: with 911 not being totally dependent on any one character dynamic for the show’s survival, it puts them in a far better position to gamble, ratings-wise, on something that might not be a hit with the general audience. (I know it sucks, but 'popular on social media’ doesn’t automatically translate to ‘popular with casual viewers’). If 911 did take that leap with Buck and Eddie and it flopped? The Buckley-Diaz family moves to an island paradise somewhere and the show moves on with their strong (and also popular) remaining ensemble cast. For the average casual viewer, nothing in 911 would blow up beyond repair without Buddie. 

So I feel like our ship has a much better shot of becoming canon. There is good reason to be optimistic. Especially if the ship’s fanbase continues to grow, and grow, and grow, and we remain visible and vocal.

{I do have a trend that I dislike that came with BFA: vehement faction hate with the side of “my faction is better” because “blahblahblah”.  It’s great to have faction pride and love, sure, but I quickly got tired of the ooc discourse of people incessantly putting their faction on a pedastal oocly for its lore and bash the other side and what not in a game that is notoriously known for it plotholes/continuity errors. Nothing is perfect to me about Warcraft, but I can appreciate the efforts creators put into story, characters, or even the bold direction something is taken, even if its a little silly at times. And maybe it’s because I’ve been sort of a floater since Vanilla knowing that you’re really only experiencing half the story if you’re committed to playing one faction. But, no, I just do not have the passion some people have for their Faction pride, lol. With this expansion especially, it grinds on me. Actually has dampened my desire to play in-game, and rp with certain people.

To me, it’s much like Marvel and DC. There have been characters and stories that are great and that flop on both sides...but it doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy something from both. I’m just sorry some people are so blinded by their faction love that WoW discussions sound more like a forum post from a trolling 14 year old, and it seems to bleed into their character portrayal /cringes. }

Newsflash: people can have different kinds of relationships with more than one person at once.

The bond Garcy had was so different and (excuse me) so much bigger than that highschool nonsense that was Ly@tt (wich can be nice and fun too, but...).

Lucy and Flynn being quite the team literally was the backbone of the whole. Damn. Story. Wich was why I trusted the creators until the end.

Well, the more it hurt that they ruined something so deep, so important and so meaningful for a simple who kisses who. Wich is frankly one of the least important things about the show.

I know a loud group on Twitter going to the con planning on asking CS questions to Colin. At a KR panel that's just really rude but Colin played a part of CS for many years and we may see them again this season but i doubt Colin will even hint at that at the con. My question to Colin would be something along the lines of you said every Hook would choose Emma, are you glad that they didn't give Wish Hook an LI and are you relieved that Wish Hook's TL is familial? I think that's a good question.

That’s a fucking terrible question.

I was going to answer this Ask with your other one, but I had to answer it separately in order to properly hold all of my displeasure at that question, because it is really and truly an absolutely dreadful question and I fervently hope no one asks that poor man anything like that. Ever.

When people come up with questions like these, does it just never occur to them to imagine how they would feel as the actor being asked this? Or are they fully aware of the awkward minefield they’re asking the actor to traverse and just simply don’t care? Honest question here, because it baffles me.

For starters, ANY question that starts off by throwing a person’s past statements in their face (for purposes other than clarifying those statements) is going to be fucking confrontational. I don’t care if you’re starting your query with, “You said you prefer red M&Ms to yellow ones...” the question that follows is guaran-fucking-teed to be confronting the person on a new development that could challenge the authenticity of that statement. If your question can’t be asked without reminding the querent of things they’ve said in the past, your question’s too fucking confrontational for something as easy-going and intended to be fun like a convention Q&A panel.

But even if you removed that part of the question... It’s still a fucking terrible question. The idea of Wish Hook having a Love Interest is a matter of serious contention amongst some factions of this fandom - HIS fucking fandom. Why on Earth would anyone in their right mind think it’s appropriate to ask him to voice his opinion on that specific subject? At best, he’ll see it for the fucking bear trap it is and diplomatically sidestep it without saying anything one way or the other - but at worst, the poor man will accidentally say something in passing that will then be lorded over half of his fandom and used to bully and harass others because, “Even Colin said blahblahblah!”

I don’t give a shit which side of the debate you’re on or even what the motherfucking debate is about, DON’T FUCKING DO THAT TO A CELEBRITY. Don’t do it to anybody, for that matter, but especially don’t do it to a celebrity who may not be up on all the petty fan dramas and who would absolutely loathe knowing his innocently spoken words are being used to fuel fandom drama and squabbling. I have to seriously ask you how well you’ve paid attention to the kind of man Colin is (anyone who has would know he would NOT want to be put on the spot or pulled into a contentious subject like that) and if you have even the slightest care or compassion for this man at all.

This is, in a nutshell, my entire problem with the Crazy CSers out there. There’s nothing wrong with not watching S7. There’s nothing wrong with lamenting the end of canon content for your favorite ship. There’s nothing wrong with having strong opinions about the ship or how their Happy Ending should be. Nothing wrong with any of that...

But when you have your ship boner jacked so fucking high that you forget there’s real fucking human beings behind it who have feelings and lives and careers beyond your petty ship issues, you need to seriously check yourself. Completely disrespecting the creators of that ship (be it actors, writers, crew) or treating them as less than fucking human because you need a clever soundbite to support your latest ship fantasies is fucking asinine. If you do this kind of shit, you should be ashamed of yourself... and shot into fucking space.

If your goal is to push the guy further away from wanting to have ANY interaction with his fans or if you straight up hate him, then I rescind all of this and have to admit - that’s a great question for those purposes, you complete and utter asshole. Otherwise, no, that’s a fucking terrible question.

okay posting the disjointed tag2 thoughts since it's been about a month since release. I’m not used to making posts like this, sorry.

I understand the reasoning behind nerfing TAG1. Didn't agree with it at first, but I get that id wants to make it more accessible/fix pacing n balancing. As long as the master levels go crazy, it’s an acceptable trade off. Meathook platforming was fun - might be a pipe dream but I hope there’s a way to put it into master levels. A leetol disappointing that new enemies are reskins and reused assets from 2016 except for the cyber baron, and very disappointing the chaingunner failed his legacy. Art Direction and music were fantastic - loved the ambience of World Spear and Immora the most, and the end credits theme has been stuck in my head since I’ve heard it.

Not so sure I like Levy’s music replacing Mick’s menu theme - that kinda worries me. Hope this is just a one time thing and they don’t plan on replacing the rest of the soundtrack :x

I think Dooomguy getting shoved into the sarcophogus is a decent enough bookend for 2016. Woke up in it, now going back to sleep in it. The little detail of survivors worshiping Doomguy was pretty cute.

It’s that silly Davoth plot twist I just don’t understand - every time I think about it I have to wonder why. There's no backing or build up to it in the base campaign or TAG1 despite those two lining up mostly without issue, and it's frustrating that all the previous lore got thrown away seemingly just for the shock of pulling the rug out from under people. Best guess is somewhere someone decided they wanted to change the story to “Satan created God instead of the other way around and that’s why everything’s fucked”, but they should’ve planned for that in the beginning instead of trying to course-correct hard on what's supposed to be the conclusion of Eternal. (i found this post after drafting this and it probably explains my points better than I can :x)

Considering the voice that says no after Khan is killed has darklord in it's file name and the caption had it’s named changed only to get written off as a mistake/oversight/glitch around the time TAG2 was being teased (I think - I’ll admit I might not be remembering this right!), I don't think Davoth's story ever involved him being the penultimate creator god. And now there’s gonna be that stupid power scaling shit with introducing an all-powerful bad guy that made the previous all-powerful bad guy - which also isn’t backed by anything in the games (no, hugo’s word doesn’t count as in-game lore). Was it too much to have one dude around making sure they didn’t loose the plot?

Guess it doesn’t matter in the end since gameplay is king blahblahblah, but too bad the story had to wrap up like a fart in the wind.

2020.01.19 - The Great Glitches

I cannot recall what exactly prompted me to look into video game glitches the past week; however, last year, around this time, or perhaps later, when the outbreak of the coronavirus was officially announced, many brought up the infamous Corrupted Blood incident that took place as a World of Warcraft pandemic back in 2005. Not an avid gamer or professionally a computer programmer myself, I shall not regurgitate what others have said so thoroughly about this event. But in a nutshell, a design negligence allowed a deadly spell only found in a confined raid to be carried out by certain players’ pets to the entire game space, affecting several servers. What became more interesting was that later this incident attracted epidemiologists to study and debate about human behaviors vis-a-vis a pandemic. In the foreseeable future, there won’t be a shortage of funny glitches in computer games. But it takes a good one to trigger series of deep reflections and heated discussions around the effects that it may bring to life beyond the virtual realm. My next case is a long-loved, yet recently debunked glitch myth. Rumor had it that, in the turn-based strategy game Civilization 1, released back in 1991, if you chose to play Gandhi to lead India against other civilizations, under certain circumstances you would experience an overflow error that would cause Gandhi to be very aggressive and go nuclear after India adopted democracy. The following littler Internet-history video—made before the release of Sid Meier’s (creator of the Civilization series) memoir that debunks the decades-long conspiracy—tells how this beloved nuke-thirst Gandhi becomes a source of inspiration for later sequels. 

I wish I had more case-studies to illustrate a point, but in the time being, I ponder on the meaning of thinking about game glitches not just as funny (or annoying) errors or unexpected Easter Eggs, nor how they lay bare the medium of CGI and physics engines (blahblahblah…how cliché), but as possibilities; as what-ifs that provide glimpses to a world-order not previously known to us; as lovely gifts that the computer has to offer for us to reflect our own, human idiosyncrasies. Lastly, one of the latest glitches I collect is from the Microsoft Flight Simulator. Virtual Melbourne erected a ridiculously high skyscraper due to a data-entry typo. But if you try to land on it, you get to appreciate the best city view possible, as well as an incredible sunset.
