I just realized I never posted about the rest of our next generation OCs! We are most excited about the next family on the list so, while I'm thinking about it, I present to you...

The Xiao Long-Belladonna Family

- In case anyone was wondering, the yellow suit Yang wore to Weiss and Ruby's rehearsal dinner becomes her wedding suit

- That is honestly the only detail of their wedding we have planned, we will come back to that some other time

- Unlike Ruby and Weiss, we actually have a real ✨backstory✨ planned for Blake and Yang's children

- They adopt two twins, Ebony (human) and Blaine (dog Faunus) very shortly after getting married.

- Blake knew she wanted to adopt a Faunus child because she wanted to make them feel safe and loved while also properly preparing them for the way the world might treat them because of their race

- While looking into adoption, they heard about these two twins who were orphaned because they had one human parent and one Faunus parent. A violent attack by a group of terrorists racists left Blaine and Ebony without a family.

- Blake fell in love with the kids immediately. Yang saw the look in her eyes and knew that they had found their children

- Again, to reiterate, they grow up attached at the hip with Phoenix (Arkos child), Passio (White Rose child), and Loki (Renora child)

- Most of the kids unlock their semblances while training at Signal

- Ebony's semblance is something my brother likes to call "perfect calm." Essentially, it is the exact opposite of Yang's semblance. If Ebony can attain a state of total peace and concentration then she gets a serious power boost and can move with unparalleled speed (like some Matrix shit)

- Blaine, on the other hand, has a passive semblance except, unlike his Great Uncle Qrow, his passive power is rather positive.

- Given the admittedly uncreative name of "morale boost," when Blaine is around, every one around him gets some extra motivation and mental resolve.

- Blaine is the family's emotional support dog and we love him to death. Yang absolutely calls him that on occasion just to annoy him but he secretly likes it.

- If you're still unsure of how his power works, think the opposite of the Apathy. As a matter of fact, if they ever had an encounter with the Apathy, Blaine's semblance would cancel out their negative effects 🙃

- The Xiao Long-Belladonna's stay in Vale for their whole lives. Blake opens a small bookstore in the center of town and Yang opens a small martial arts school, teaching young future hunters and non-hunters alike.

- Occasionally, Yang will go on a short huntsman mission with Qrow and her little cousins

- When Blaine and Ebony grow up, family days of clearing out Grimm from areas in need becomes a regular activity

- Yang will take any excuse to get back into the field and fucking fight some monsters. She's very excited to share that experience with her kids (when she's confident they are ready to handle it)

Ok but the way Glee had on screen confirmed queer representation since 2009, albeit a questionable but nonetheless earnest attempt, long before rwby even started. Like they had to work around that time's homophobia within the industry and rwby is still terrified of confirming bumblby in the year 2021. Crazy.

like i’m definitely not going to shy away from how much i hate the biphobic sentiments from both santana & kurt in glee, especially in how much it harmed the people they claimed to love but absolutely no one can deny the impact these two & blaine  /  brittany made on the queer scene when their stories came to the forefront of glee.

i think a lot of baby queers forget how dangerous it was to come out even a decade ago. for context; i came out in 2009 right around the time that the kurt & santana storylines happened. i say came out, i was forcibly outed by a friend & the abuse i suffered afterwards was horrendous, especially when combined with the victim blaming that came from the school who told me i should’ve just stayed in the closet. this was only a decade ago.

i know it’s not all sunshine & roses right now but the road for queer rep has long been paved in certain areas & when you have actual queer creators having to fight tooth & nail still for the amount of representation that the mostly cishet writers in mkek have taken for granted, it almost feels like a spit in the face. it feels like they’re squandering all the opportunities that actual queer creators would kill for to be able to tell our stories & provide those characters to look up to for the next generation. especially when they don’t even have the balls to confirm it yet still have the cishet audacity to make money off of the queers they won’t confirm. that took it far past any “justification” any rwby fan had in that it wasn’t the right time to do so in the show because if it’s the right time to monetize the queer content they’re apparently so terrified of platforming, it’s damn well time to finally fucking nut up & confirm it.

The first time Blake met Yang

Blake was dreaming of herself being underwater. There were dolphins, crabs, flounder, and tuna. She always loved fish which even surprised her mom Kali. She wished she could reach out and take one to stuff it in her mouth, after all she was just dreaming.

Suddenly a man tall with broad shoulders, neck length black hair similar to her own and striking golden eyes appeared in front of her. He was wearing fitted white brumuda shorts that hung over his waist and...a Hawaiian shirt with catfish and flowers patterned opened which displayed is hairy chest, much to Blake’s discomfort.

To say this dream wasn’t weird was an understatement, cause what is this guy doing underwater?

He smiled at her his thick black beard covering his lips in a way. The man then pulled something out of his shorts and placed it in Blake’s hand.

“It’s a seashell.” He said softly.

His voice was rich and commanding making Blake blink in surprise before he disappered.

“What...?” She muttered, clearly baffled at the whole exchange. That is, until someone else appeared in front of her. Blake’s eyes widened.

It was a girl, around her age. Twelve years old with a good built, long waves of golden hair and the most beautiful silverish purple eyes. A color Blake has never witnessed all her twelve years of life. She was also wearing an worn orange tank-top, a leather loose band with tribal beads around her neck, fitted jean shorts with...a cute bumblebee patch, and purple high tops with a yellow strike on the inside of her right foot.

Blake wanted to say something to this dream girl, but more fish began to swim in front of her causing her attention to go back to her stomach. Curse her ADHD...wait the girl was about to speak.

Blake needed to say something, anything. What would this dream girl say? Maybe they witnessed her fighting the mystical creature? Maybe they’ll tell her she’s aweso—-“

“Boy you must really like fish...I hope the ambrosia is actually healing you and not messing with your head..”

Blake blinked as she awakened. “Huh...”

The blonde smirked at her with amusement before reaching out to wipe the corner of Blake’s mouth.

“You also drool a lot in your sleep, cat girl.”

After that remark. Blake blushed before pulling away from the girl and wiping the rest of her face with the back of her hand. She had so many question to ask the cute girl.

Sadly It would have to wait since another person’s voice came from across the room.

“OH FINALLY THE KID’S AWAKE! HEY, YAN SHANG HI GET BACK TO APOLLO CABIN! YOU FINISHED HEALING THEM.”

Blake watched the girl’s smile disappear before both of them turned to a man wearing a plad shirt with a can of Diet Coke in his hand. He was built lean and his red eyes were intimidating.

“For the last time Mr. D my name is Yang Xiao Long, I’m half Chinese and I’m the head counselor for ATHENA’S CABIN DAMMIT!”

“WHATEVER JUST GO I NEED TO TALK TO BLAINE BEGGONNA OVER THERE!”

Blake felt her eyes roll. “I-It’s Blake Belladonna sir...”

The man turned to her. “Do I look like I care Blasé? Gods! Someone get Mr. Hay-For-Breath already!”

Blake growled at the rude man before feeling a hand on her shoulder. She turned her head to see Yang.

Yang...it was a pretty name.

“Welcome to Camp Blake, hope we run into each other again.” She whispered before she finally left the room.

6. What's the best gift they ever received?

Aaliyah - a really nice guitar when she was 16 (she got her first one when she was 10 but it was trash 😂)

Passio - every year, Ruby and Weiss get their kids an "experience" as their big gift that they spend an obscene amount of money on. Passio's favorite was an aerial tour of Mistral 😊

Ebony - she loves giving more than she likes getting, but she always remembers the year Blake got her a bracelet she had been eyeing for months. It was small, but it showed her that Blake was paying attention and put thought into it 🤗

Blaine - one year, when the Xiao Long-Rose-Branwen family had their Secret Santa gift exchange, Weiss got Blaine a whole fucking motorcycle. Yang thought it was amazing meanwhile Blake was fucking horrified

Phoenix - another child who loves giving more than getting. They can't even keep track of what they get which year. They just love seeing their siblings wake up and get all excited every year 😌

Lokie - This child gets what they want every year, but the best was when they came out to their parents and Ren and Nora got them a whole new wardrobe 🥺 complete with every type of clothing style you can think of. They wanted options and Ren and Nora delivered lol.

Diamond - Do you remember your first OC? Who were they?

Oh my god... Otter, you just dug up a dark, dark, dark part of my writing past... How do I explain this? Preface: I was 8, leave me alone. Explanation: my cousins and I created this character together named Julie Pink that was supposed to be just... An Evil person. Who we were Better Than™️. That was it, that was her purpose 😅 let's move on.

Ruby - Which character do you have the hardest time writing right now and why?

Oh, Passio, 100%. She's technically my brother's OC and I always worry that I'm writing her wrong. I ask him to look over anything she's involved in like three times 😂 even if she's barely involved haha. I fear fucking her up even tho my brother is always like "yeah, exactly, you got it"

Beryl - Which character really likes color? Do they have a specific combination of colors or a spectrum of color they adore?

Hmmmmmm... This is a very good RWBY OC question but idk... 🤔 Off the top of my head, I have to say Zachariel and Blaine. They both love bright colors and love designing and messing with various combos. Blaine's fav combo is black and yellow, wonder where that came from

So I saw your post, and I'm intrigued by "With a burning passion" 👀 If you don't mind ofc

I don't mind at all 🤗

Ah, I don't even know where to start with this one! I guess the first thing I want to mention is that it is going to be part 4 of Hard to Find, Hard to Keep, Hard to Forget and it is the definition of a work in progress lol.

Basically, With a Burning Passion is going to be our Next Generation fic, mostly following Passio Schnee-Rose, Ruby and Weiss' first child and a personal favorite OC that my brother created 😆

Passio goes to Beacon with Team PRPL, of which she is the leader. Her teammates include Phoenix Arc-Nikos and Lokie Lie-Valkyrie. Their fourth teammate is Reveren Mustang, whom Passio butts heads with quite a bit at first. Her moms are extremely amused by the fact that their daughter is dealing with the exact same conflict with one of her teammates that led to them getting married. They constantly insist that Passio actually has a crush on Reveren. She doesn't, but that doesn't stop Ruby and Weiss from teasing her 😆

PRPL also goes to school along side Team EBNY, led by Ebony Xiao Long-Belladonna who is accompanied by her brother, Blaine. Admittedly we have not figured anything out about the N or the Y of Team EBNY, but we are working on it 😅

The story will probably only span the first year of their time at Beacon and will just include various huntsmen-related shenanigans 😂 (going to classes, field trips, going on missions, dealing with the conflict between Passio and Reveren, etc)
