So I've been bored/running ideas in my head lately......

I know, that's dangerous coming from me - especially considering how I can start and then go on and on about a topic (see my post on my fanon history for Smokescreen for an idea.) That said, ever since I've started watching RWBY, I've been hooked, though I will be stopping after Volume 4 as I've heard...let's say mixed opinions on the show's writing after the fourth installment's conclusion. Because I've been hooked, I've also noticed that some characters - in particular Mercury Black, my favorite character outside of the main and side characters - were underutilized, in my own personal opinion. That, in addition to my fixation on Transformers, has led me to this crackpot idea:

RWBY x Transformers Partnerships.

What is this, you may ask? It's Blade saying, "What if there was a crossover between these two franchises I love and, more specifically, who would bond with who in a hypothetical crossover?"

I know it's been done before, but I mostly want to just pit characters together for the sake of fun, especially since life has been a bit much lately. So to unwind - and pass around some fun - I'm going to be starting a series of RWBY characters buddied up with Transformers characters.

Of course, that also means I have to set the stage for how this would all work. I'll summarize it as best I can, and leave open enough doors that things won't be too convoluted, or have too little substance to be able to feasibly work.

In a twist on Volume 2, I would have Mercury be used by Cinder to get close and learn about Team RWBY and gather info from them. However, he and Ruby would hit it off, and over time, Mercury would grow to care about her and the team before he'd defect - with the added benefit of having Pyrrha not only survive, but also be pushed on to the path to becoming the Fall Maiden.

Now, shortly after the Fall of Beacon, and before Ruby wakes up, I would have had Watts working with...let's say Team BRIR and Bram Thornmane (yes, I did research on relatively obscure characters connected to a RWBY game) to develop an interdimensional portal. Who knows what it was for, but Salem gave him this job, so he may as well do it, right? Well, turns out, in a Transformers: Prime-styled universe, the Autobots and Miko (see here for details that will be carried over to my mad little crossover) are in a battle with the Decepticons when - an ancient Cybertronian artifact, I suppose - activates at the same time Watts' machine does. The two groups are sucked through the wormhole, and are practically scattered across the world of Remnant, but because the CCT is down, hardly anyone realizes that Something is amiss.

And so the story begins!

Now, I'm sure I'll be asked about this, so I'll say it right now: the ship QuickSilver (Mercury x Ruby) will be a subtle part of this series, as well as Combat Goggles and BlackSun. I'm not the biggest fan of RoseGarden (having Oscar sharing living space with Ozpin gives me a major case of squick), and if I'm being honest, I love the idea of Ruby's purity pulling Mercury out of the darkness his father drowned him in. I also adopted love Mercury as a character, and his potential just screams at me to be recognized. Combat Goggles is another I love for how they interact in that one episode in Volume 2, and I can see Neptune with Yang more easily than with Weiss (plus I can't find that much content for them, so I gotta do it myself.) And BlackSun, while it isn't my favorite, I do love a good ship of Brooding Girl and Sunshine Boy in stories, so it's staying. And as a Hummingbird shipper/Qrow is Ruby's dad theorizer, I will be making references to that as well.

Call me a hater or say that I'm killing the fun of it or something, but one of my most subjective most petty complaints when it comes to RWBY is that I honestly hate like 90% of the ship names. XD There are only a few that I can think of that I like, and most of the shipping names I like are things like 'Ironqrow,' 'Arkos,' 'Ozwitch,' 'Renora,' the regular everyday shipping names you could actually look up and get the content for without having to scroll through pictures of ladybugs. The other ones that I don't like but at least seem kind of quirky or cutesy are things like 'Nuts and Dolts' and 'Crime Dads' (I may hate Junior, but 'Crime Dads' is very similar in vibes to 'Science Bros' or 'Ineffable Husbands' or other regularly accepted fandom nicknames.

I don't like the bees very much either, but I actually don't mind the shipping name of 'Bumbleby' because it has a quirky spelling to make it something that can be looked up and also makes sense to make that the ship name because people originally started shipping the main four with each other back before they had names and just went by the color associated with them. I'd like Monochrome, WhiteRose, Ladybug, and Freezerburn a bit more too if they had quirky quirk spellings that made them able to be actually found, but here we are.

However, the other shipping names? Martial Arcs? Caffeine Killers? Evil Moustache? Burnt Metal?

Also, then you get things like mix ups where some people have been calling the ship between Whitley and Penny "cold hard cash" and others have been calling it "broken machines" I think for some reason? I don't remember for sure and I literally like the ship, but I would much rather just call them... Pentley, or PenWhit or something. Also also don't even get me started on how many ship names are associated with color but with the amount of people in Ruby who have the same color.... Like 'Crimson' is used for part of the ship title, but 'Crimson' is used for Ruby, Cinder, Pyrrha, Scarlet, Adam and who knows who else, so if someone tells me "I ship Crimson Wings" I'm not gonna think "ah yes, the ship between Cardin and Cinder," I'm gonna think "Is that like... Adam and Qrow? Is that Ruby and that one bat Faunus? Is that Scarlet and Weiss? Is that Raven and Vernal somehow?" It's so unnecessarily complicated.

Also the naming conventions of going by like... Traits that it feels weird to pick? It just gives me a not great feeling. Why does Neo being mute feature in her shipping names? Why is Blake's number one thing just 'Cat?' Why are so many of Qrow's shipping names like 'lol Qrow is a drunkard?' Why is the name for Mercury and Weiss's ship 'Daddy Issues" as if the only thing about their characters that's important is the fact that they were both abused by their fathers?

Anyway, this is a mostly harmless fandom quirk, and I just don't really like it. So... rant over lol. Please nobody think you have to change what you call your ships for my sake, but I might just stop trying to learn any real shipping names and just go with putting names together. The ship between Neon Katt and Ruby might be called like, Rainbow Eyes or Crimson Cat or CapeSkates or something, but I'm just gonna say 'Neon x Ruby.'

CRWBY designed such a beautiful and badass character like Sienna Khan and did nothing with her and she existed for all of one scene (with some added in Adam's short after the fact but the damage was done). It's a reflection of RWBY when you think about it; all style and no substance.

at the end of the day, that's all rwby is. it's like jelloapocalypse said, rwby's writing likes to "fly by the seat of its oversized clown pants"

it's just tossing in tons of cool ideas but never fully developing any of them.

racism against animal-people? cool idea, never fully developed.

adam and blake's relationship/dynamic being like malcolm x and martin luther king jr.? cool idea, never fully developed.

class wars with mantle vs atlas? cool idea, never fully developed.

having the main four girls realize their privileges in growing up in safe/wealthy areas unlike our villains (cinder/mercury/emerald/adam/ilia/etc.)? cool idea, never fully developed.

we see cinder make some comments about this to weiss in v8 but nothing really ever comes out of it.

we see tyrian's "you interest me" comment to jaune in v4. maybe some sort of comment on his semblance and how their semblances are opposites? cool idea, never fully developed.

there are series that, within one season, have done more with their characters than rwby has done with their characters in eight seasons.

like arcane, which developed caitvi's relationship (and their attraction to each other) more in one season than b/umbleby's "slowburn" relationship did in eight seasons.

like artiswitch, which developed nina's problems and shortcomings as a main character more in one season than rwby did with ruby in eight seasons.

it sucks because rwby could be so great if they just picked ideas and stuck with them and developed them. but they keep jumping from one concept to the next and add nothing new... there are no new spins on these ideas they have.

i rambled a bit, but i hope my points make sense. this show could've been so much more if it just had some focus.

After reading @howlingday rwby milf hunter had to share an idea on a rwby x monster idea i have. Just my own thoughts so please share yours if you want

Ruby: maybe lunagaron, valtrax, or something.

Weiss: shrieking legiana

Blake: nargacuga

Yang: golden rathian

Jaune: tigrex or something.

Nora: bazelgeuse (for obvious reasons) or zinogre

Pyrrha: hmmm...i kinda think an elder dragon but a mizutsune would work too

Ren: tobi kodachi, great girros. Kinda basic ik

Sun: raijiang

Neptune: why not a lageacris

Coco: kulve taroth

Fox: odogaron

Velvet: not sure

Yatsu hashi: glavious

Cinder: alatreon

Emerald: maybe a green nargacuga

Mercury: maybe a kushala daora

Penny: maybe a paolumu

Glynda: why not rakni kadaki

Qrow: possibly a midogaron, nergigante, Whitley: maybe a barioth

I'm having w sudden urge to draw some rwby X SOUL eater crossover...

How it'll be;

Marcus ( remember in my main au his soul is attached to anthonys as a afterlife punishment- will explain more when DAWM comes out) is pretty much obvious since that's his and Anthony's original dynamic ( marcus would turn into a scythe while his weilder is Anthony)

Mercury I thought would be a weapon then I thought again and went " nah he'd be more of a Meister " so emerald turns into a really badass wand (reference to Caduceus)

Ruby would be a weapon and her partner would obviously be weiss

Meanwhile yang turns into Blake's katana

Duncan would turn into some sort of chain whip Luke weapon while his weapon is will

Pyrrha would turn into a knight sword while Oscar becomes a Sheild for jaune

Nora turn into a hammer while Lie Ren weilds her (that or they get the Liz and pattie treatment but then...who would be their meister...?)

So on and so forth

So a while back I made a post about how I dislike that the two most popular ships for Emerald are E/mercury & especially E/mberald. @runephoenix6769 asked in the tags how I felt about Rainbow Quartz {Emerald x Ilia} and I’m sorry that I’m only getting to this now!! ^^;

To answer the question, I’m a huge fan of Rainbow Quartz!! The two of them just have so much potential in my opinion, they can both relate to each other in quite a few ways, one of which is that they’re both trying to make up for past mistakes. Gotta love the redemption gfs!! ;w;

Since I answered this late, I’ll also list a couple of other ships for Emerald that I really like/love {in no particular order}.

Diamond in the Rough {Emerald + Weiss}.

Lightening Thief {Emerald + Nora}.

Cat Burglar {Emerald + Blake}.

Gemstones {Emerald + Ruby}.

Mint Chocolate {Emerald + Coco}.

And while I don’t personally ship Emerald with men because I headcanon her as a lesbian, I at least respect the Envy Zinnia {Emerald + Ren} ship!! So to those that ship this, you have wonderful taste!!

Corporate Fraud: Its funny and cute

Topaz: This was hands down the first ship I went crazy for. Still OTP

Nora's Arc / Martial Arcs / Arkos / JNPR Berries: One I wish was canon the most

Winter Knight: Same reasoning as CF, that and like Arkos has potential for a teacher/student vibe.

Dragonslayer: They're both awkward parents
