There are some ships that you just know would be 100% canon if they were an M/F ship, and that's mainly what pisses people off the most in these situations.

It isn't just about the ship; it's also very much about the homophobia (whether the creators know it or not) that is preventing the ship from being canon when they otherwise would be.

The entire show is basically their love story.

Every single time Serena dated someone Blair would get so fucking jealous and try to find out everything abt the guy she was dating, and only give her approval once she knew he was genuinely in love with her. Because if she can’t be happy at least Serena can.

Serena drops everything in her life (including whoever she’s currently dating at the time) whenever Blair is in trouble. THERE IS A WHOLE EPISODE DEDICATED TO THE FACT THAT SERENA WAS SPENDING MORE TIME WITH BLAIR THAN WITH HER BOYFRIEND.

A CANON LINE IN THE SHOW IS “Poor B. Looks like she just got dumped by the love of her life.” AFTER SHE GETS INTO A FIGHT WITH SERENA.

BREAKUP SONGS PLAY WHENEVER THEY GET INTO A FIGHT. A MAJORITY OF THE SHOW IS THEM SHOWING THAT THEY MATTER MORE TO EACH OTHER THAN ANYONE ELSE.

Also they’re a dark hair x light hair duo, obviously they’re gay.

Love them! As I've said on here before, the quality dropped greatly when their friendship stopped being the heart of the show, their dynamic is the single most important dynamic in GG, the whole show was originally meant to revolve around it, and also like...they were low key in love with each other. :)
