Tbh I'm sure I've posted about this before, but like, the way that Angel Eyes slips into this intensity with his thoughts at the end of solitudinem ch 2 is extremely formative as a moment for him. It's just like, the first time someone has shown his thoughts curiousity in a way that he responds to. And the way he's both surprised that he said that much to Blondie, the oddest part grateful that he was listened to, and just generally unsettled by the idea that he enjoys someone knowing these thoughts....yes ....romance

Then Angel is staring, transfixed, watching his goddawful weakness as if he were a drowning bug, wings twitching and helplessly choked with water, nothing to be done for it. The shame rips through Blondie’s throat in a sob he manages to turn into a cough. Angel turns away as if stung.

Let it never be said I didn't like to torture Tweechik Blondeyes quite a bit :)

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

I feel like this one is interesting in that I considered what the fic was like from the other logical POV character, but uh, Angel Eyes point blank refused to revisit/narrativize that experience (perhaps unsurprisingly, heh). In some ways "bone wing shelters (can't keep out the wind)" is the alternate version / redux from the POV of the caregiving character :)

I was tagged by @pen-of-roses to post a first paragraph of something. Thank you, this is from Sighted Crows in a Desert of Rime, the fanfic I know in my soul so closely it may be by heart now <3

It’s a night so cold that breath crystallizes even with roaring fires at both ends of the saloon. The wind is howling full tear outside, rattling against the wooden latch. It would be murder to try and shut the door. Not that there are many patrons, only a few shivering at tables and a man with an unlit cigar tapping his gloved fingers on the counter.
