The WAR had long since been over.  The only      reason he could even be found in this position;      that of being laid up in a hospital, treated for      the long lasting injuries that still reside, Naruto      refused anything less.  The bombastic blonde      had refused treatment until he knew for certain      that Sasuke would receive more or less the same.

     He didn’t understand why.  His ‘reason’ had been      laid out, spelled to the cross of a ‘t’, and yet his      head couldn’t quite wrap around it.  Another thing,      which aroused just as much confusion, why Sakura      was standing over him, studying what she could      and taking note of his healing wounds.  

     It was then he spoke; it was THEN that his curiosity couldn’t be contained any longer.  

“ . . .  Why? ”

Why was she still here?   Why would she have anything to DO WITH HIM? After everything he’d done, he deserved no such kindness.

ESPECIALLY from Sakura Haruno herself.

Pulling her close, Sasuke’s face brushed against hers. For a moment, he closed his eyes and took her in. Her heartbeat against his own, her breathing, the fluttering of her lids. He could even feel her lashes against his neck. 

How’d it come to this? After all this time, all the suffering he’d gone through, was he really willing to let someone close again? It was insanity, nothing but the oh so sweet possibility of finding happiness. Was he that much of a fool?

Apparently so, for he plastered a kiss on her cheek this very moment. Oh, how stupid he was, how desperate. But his heart told him it was the right thing to do. It’d been so long since he’d believed to do something just. He touched her, but he didn’t hurt her. He held her but without ulterior intent. What a madman he was. Really, he shouldn’t be doing this. It’d need just a second to break her neck, one simple movement. His hand was right there, touching her in just the right place. So why couldn’t he do it? At least he managed to break the kiss.

But once he’d tasted her skin on his lips, he couldn’t possibly bring himself to stop. Sakura must think him to be possessed but, to his surpirse, she did not push him away. God, how he loved her. Fuck, did he really just think that? Fuck. He kissed her again, on the jar. “Fuck!” The last time, he’d said it out loud. Just what did she do to him?

“Come with me,” he murmured and wanted to punch himself as soon as the thought struck his mind. But it was too late now. Before Sakura could do as much as answer, he kissed her again. This time, it was his lips against hers and he enjoyed it for as long as it lasted.

He’d regret this, wouldn’t he?
