ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN-I
SEMESTER 3
PROJECT 3
Home is where you make it. Home is where you belong.
“Her dwelling is a grounding escape”
This statement formed my concept. My user is a female architect who lives alone, has a pet corgi, likes the outdoors and gardening, is an avid book reader and usually has friends over for the weekend. She also likes peaches.
Her profession is such that requires her to get out of her comfort zone, travel and meet up with people. Doing so drains her. But, she can persevere knowing she has a place to return to to ground herself. Also, since she does not have much time during the week she opted to plant a single peach tree and take of it instead of growing a whole farm of produce she could not manage.
“MOMO NO HANA” is the title I’ve given to this little dwelling. it translates to “peach blossom”. But why a Japanese name? Well, I started from Japanese architecture. The use of simple lines and subtle colours in Japanese architecture is the key that creates an integration with nature, thus leading towards a rather therapeutic and relaxing space.
