ALSO she shouldn’t of won, genuinely there was so many times she shouldve been sent home!!! definitely shouldnt have won! one of the criterias was creativity and she just did the cell block tango murders in glass form. tbf it is a cool installation (im a sucker for interactive work) BUT IT WASNT HER IDEA??? it wasnt a sloght reference or a clever twist on it, it was just the 6 murders in glass form ://// boring. she shouldnt of won the spooky challenge either he mushroom was boring asf and average.

OK, I'm not gonna respond directly to 1.5 year old tags on one of my posts with less than 100 notes, but it's been eating at me ever since. Is Deborah Czeresko, winner of season 1 of Blown Away on Netflix, a terf?

I can see why, after watching the show, you would come to that to conclusion. Lucky for you, I went down a deep internet wormhole tonight.

Evidence Deborah's a TERF:

TERF bangs and lots of eggs as female symbolism, both in a domesticity way and a bioessentialist way.

Doesn't look good BUT:

They/them pronouns and trans flag in official Instagram bio.

Describes themselves as queer on their homepage (but uses she her pronouns on it) and says their art is about queer issues.

Makes these adorable glass trans eggs and donates part of the profits to lgbtq Healthcare.

This quote from a NYTIMES profile:

the newest season of blown away is just. Not Good. the judgings are just so bad? from the first episode where the glass blowers were supposed to introduce themselves through a piece, and deborah (ugh) called the piece resembling a colourful drawing mannequin seated on a large colourless oval while holding a book ‘didactic’ but proceeded to then absolutely cream herself over the metaphor of the piece resembling a punctured basketball… to consistently letting some of the men in particular coast through (I’m looking at you weird flesh coloured deformed shoe, big popcorn that looked like a rotting organ, lopsided moldy banana glasses) while eliminating much more consistent and interesting blowers. I get that all competition shows try to manipulate and create narrative arcs but it’s so egregious

Angry Rant Incoming: Blown Away glass competition on Netflix

I don't usually watch competition TV, because I know there is that judge that is made for you to hate and makes you root for the competitors that win them over, and editing makes the whole thing staged even if the talent is real.

But when I was a kid I would go to the glass museum with my mom, I love seeing different types of artistry (I mean it's my url), and my lunch is 30 minutes long so we've been watching an episode a day.

I have never seen a more biased, hypocritical, bigoted, and corrupt competition in my life. Besides the first season winner, who has made performative feminism her whole personality, the winners work has been dogshit. They are either friends with the producers or gave the show a lot of money to buy their win. This show has piggy backed off the literal blood, sweat, and tears of their token minorities with unbelievable talent and stolen thousands of dollars of their time. Dangling a possible success in front of them with well earned praise, and the fact that the first winner was a women in a male-dominant medium.

I am most appalled at whatever the fuck is going on with John Moran. (Spoilers I guess but don't watch this show) He is the winner of season 3 for no good reason. This man taught himself how to color and texture glass and nothing else, bought a studio, and then got some of the worst criticism I've heard on this show. And won???

I know art isn't always pretty and is made to make you think about the nitty-gritty, but sometimes they are just bad at art. MOST of his finale piece was the work of his assistants, who he then took credit for even though he admitted on camera he had them doing what he himself was unable to execute. Then got credit for it without it being labeled a collaboration. That. Isn't. Art. That's plagiarism, something a Karen got eliminated for in a previous epsiode.

I have seen indigenous and queer artists with mind blowing talent be knocked off the show in favor of this asshat (and other white dudes) who has had nothing original to say, and makes sculptures that look like plastic my dog chewed on.

I haven't seen any news outlet look into this show but 90 percent of the people watching it are furious and for good reason. I just had to vent that shit instead of looking up where John Moran lives

if you’re not following the brief you’re making your work easier, simple as that

your work shouldn’t be judged on the same scale as the others that challenged themselves

if your work is not on the top of the outputs you should be automatically eliminated, if you pass and in a subsequent task you ignore the brief again you should get an harsher judgment.

#detective conan #case closed #amv #my amvs #eye strain #heiji hattori #harley hartwell #conan edogawa #shinichi kudo #funimation english dub script #video #happy two-year anniversary to 'no thoughts just heiji hattori'! #while it's not my first amv (it's maybe my... fifth?) #it was the first one i made with davinci resolve and the amv that really got me into editing amvs for real #it's the amv that made me believe i could make amvs 🥺 #and in remastering it i deeply understood how ambitious it was! i thought i did a lot of audio mixing for 'messed up' #but that's not even close to all the audio mixing i did here--cannot believe that i did all this for my first big amv project #it took about 20 hours *just* to remaster! #which is something i've been meaning to do for a while now so i'm very happy to finally share the results! #to make this a 'remaster' and not a 'redo' the only changes i tried to make were to the source footage and audio #video now uses almost entirely hd remastered footage from my blu-rays or netflix rather than my dvds #but oh gosh was it *hard* not to touch anything else! i'd do so many things differently now #but this video will always be really special to me (and i can't believe i did it at all tbh!) #i hope seeing it in hd is fun too! i'm so blown away by all the love this vid's gotten #and that it helped increase interest in funi's old english dub is amazing and 100% what i was trying to do with it! #thank you everyone for all the support <333 i wouldn't be the video editor i am today without this vid or your encouragement for it <3333 #like the original the sources used are mostly from what funi dubbed (but mixed in hd by me!): eps 48-49 57-58 77-78 117 and 118 and movie 3 #but i also used episodes 141-142 174 189 239 263 277 291 293 345 479 491 517 and 522 #and ova 3 and tv special 6 (episode one) and movies 10 and 13 and ops 27 31 and 33 and the funi 5.2 dvd blooper for the one line lol #i'm sorry i've been so absent lately! i hope to be more active now... and there are 2 completely done amvs that i'm just waiting to post...

fuckin love blown away. just a group of insanely talented camera-awkward people sweating buckets in a dim warehouse while a host who knows exactly zilch about glass cracks bad jokes. highly recommend if you like reality competition shows and know nothing about glass.
