Star Time Have you ever been depressed, feeling intensely alone, your mind filled with intrusive thoughts? So maybe you decide to retreat into the world of television, in this case throwing on a mindless slasher film. You know the kind, turn your brain off and watch scantily clad one-dimensional teens get hacked to pieces by a hulking masked monster. Only that slasher film turns out to actually be a subversive art-house surrealist horror film about a depressed, lonely, and suicidal person who retreats from reality into the world of television. Ouch. This was NOT what I was expecting in the slightest and frankly it was a much better experience because of it. Coming out in 1992, this is one of those films that's pretty much even more relevant right now. Where the differences between fame and infamy are indistinguishable, social media has allowed every narcissistic wannabe reality tv star to be the lead in their own imagined tv show airing 24/7. For fucks sake we live in a world where people have live streamed their spree killings. This "cult of celebrity at any cost" culture is disturbing to say the least. I got a friend request on Instagram from a teenage girl, who probably wasn't even born yet during the Columbine massacre, and she was posting a fucking "Happy Birthday" message for one of the murderers. Instant fucking block. Human beings are a mistake. For someone who was already feeling kinda down, this was not the pick me up I was looking for. Its conclusions are ultimately bleak yet I was so happy I watched this. There's nothing better than having your expectations completely dashed. I was expecting lowest common denominator hack and slash and instead I got an intense, stylish, examination on loneliness and its effects from obsessive media consumption. Hot on the heels of the news that the Han Solo Star Wars prequel is officially in production, Lucasfilm/Disney have announced that Rogue One will be available for us to bring home very soon!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first of the Star Wars standalone films, has established its place within the Star Wars universe and the hearts of fans.

In this epic adventure (set before Star Wars: A New Hope), at a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker.

The movie smashed the box office last December, becoming the seventh highest-grossing film of all time in the U.S. and is nominated for two Academy Awards.

Now fans can own the epic action-adventure thriller early on Digital HD/Disney Movies Anywhere on March 24, and on Blu-ray Combo Pack/DVD/On-Demand on April 4!
