HEY SO UH. LONG TIME NO SEE HUH.

This blog isn't dead. I just don't have an excuse for not updating this sideblog. I was just unmotivated to do more colouring and then just forgot this blog existed for a good chunk of the year.

I will be getting back into colouring though! I was thinking of expanding my colouring by going for more complex mangas like Vagabond and blue period and seeing if I can replicate the painting like colouring the author does. But for now, I will continue to colour nore manga.

As always, you can reccomend me some manga to read or colour in my asks. Im basically open for anything, but I can't promise that I will start colouring right away.

Vampire Knight Is Set In Germany

Vampire Knight is a Japanese manga series written by Matsuri Hino. The manga series contains a total of nineteen volumes and was later given its own anime adaption with two seasons. Because of this, many fans assume Vampire Knight is set in Japan, like most anime series. However, this doesn't mean the franchise has to be based on Japan simply because it was created by a Japanese woman. The true setting of this vampiric world is set in a European country.

Time Period

During the recent events in the series, when it's not a flashback, it would most likely be somewhere between the mid nineties and mid two-thousands. There's no traces of modern day technology like smartphones or tablets. Instead, students have flip cellphones.

Most of the time, people are walking everywhere they go. If characters need to travel, but walking would physically be too much, they would take a horse-drawn carriage. On rare occasions, characters have to drive from wherever they are to reach the town. From there, they're expected to walk, even when getting to the school. (Season 1, Episode 7). A motor vehicle would likely be used if characters are traveling extremely long distances, as it would allow them to travel faster. Meanwhile, a horse-drawn carriage would aquire food, water and rest for the animals on a long trip. Thus, it could take a full day or days to complete. In fact, Cross Academy has stables for their horses. Due to this, it makes sense the setting takes place in Europe as certain cities and towns have laws prohibiting the use of motor vehicles to preserve the air and land. This is especially the case in more smaller, isolated civilizations.

The Landscape

The species of the trees are Pine and Fir. In her flashback, Yuki describes the landscape as a snowy tundra. Japan doesn't have tundras. It also doesn't have these specific evergreen trees, at least not in the multitude to where the town and school appear isolated by them. Secluded wooded, northern areas are common in certain European countries. Some examples include: Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, etc. Due to this, towns and cities can be a ways apart from each other. Specifically, miles. Some neighborhoods can be miles away from the nearest school or hospital too.

The Architecture

Cross Academy's exterior strongly resembles a cathedral rather than a modern educational institution building. The classroom layout is quite similar to a lecture hall. Meanwhile, all Japanese schools are set on one template, sliding doors with single desks.

The town appears to be a rural European area. Specifically, a pre-modern Germany or some Nordic town. The architecture of the buildings seem to have more of a western world design. Occasionally, there are also ruins. The ruins are likely from the middle ages or the Renaissance period than the feudal era of Japan. In some shots, the town looks to be located somewhere in the northern UK.

Vampire Population

There are too many vampires in one location. In Japan, if vampires were this widely known, the country would have found out by now. This is because Japan is an archipelago. Meanwhile, a large Western European country could conceal a small population of vampires among a widely human populated area. Thus, most of the characters have to be European.

Character Designs

With the exception of Shizuka Hio being Japanese, the remaining vampires are European. This is because most of the characters have light coloured hair and light coloured eyes. In fact, dark hair seems to be rare. Looking at the age of the vampire race in the series, vampires have been around longer than Japan's history as a country. Pureblood vampires would have one ancestry decent, such as English or French. The Aristocrat noble vampires would have more than one ancestry decent. The physical traits of commonly having blond hair and blue eyes suggest German decent is common. Although many of the names are Japanese, it could be the fault of the author for not taking into account how she set the characters in a European-like setting.

In conclusion, the main setting of Vampire Knight is set in an Eastern European or Nordic country. Nothing indicates the setting is Japan. Considering the general physical location, along with many of the character's traits and characteristics, it's likely set in Germany.

Hello tumblr! (Writblr intro)

Finally chalked up the effort to really started to working on my tumblr account. Feel free to call me sol or nm short- I don't really mind ^^.

I am a young adult interested in fiction and art-huh duh. I'm more of hoarder of things that set my little heart wild- and theres alot that does. Because of that my mind is abit cluttered and I haven't really done much to really de-cluttter it till now. I suppose this tumblr in some ways is my loveletter to writing, art and I guess the world-childish as that is.

In terms of writing, I'm aiming for that speculative fiction and fantasy vibe. I swear I'll post more about what I'm actually working on in weeks to come though I'm not fluent in tumblr just yet. If my little journey sounds like something fun, by all means feel free to stay for a little longer.

As a reader, I love my fantasy, Robin Hobb and V.E.Schwab have grown to be my fond favourites. But 'Deltora' and 'Keys to kingdom' will always be living in the back of my mind rent free.

In terms of food? I am a tiramisu and fried anchovies lover- but food do life-livin material.

My favourite colours are pastel dark greens and salmon pinks!!

I do like anime with some of my notable favourites being 'Kids on the slope', 'Magi: The labyrinth of magic', 'Tsurune' and most of 'Violet Evergarden' to name a few. In terms of manga? '+Anima', 'Blue Period', 'Way of the household husband' and'Witch Hat Atelier.'

In terms of webnovels, mxtxx's capacity to write rather captivating and wholesome cultivation stories really speaks to me- the dynamics are just REALLY good. In terms of webcomics 'Spirit fingers' and 'Return of the blossoming blade' are two series I really dig. This list could probably go on, and I am keen on maybe posting up my thoughts on particular series I read or watch.

Day 26: Have you ever dyed your hair? What colour would you dye your hair, if you could dye it any colour?

not full one color but ive done color stuff. first it was the outside layer so it looked bleached while everything inside was dark. it was lilac.

then i made it magenta because i like how it fades into pink and then peach.

now i did an underdye in purple because i like the color fade out to silver to blond. i also wash my hair often so.

if i could go for anything id go for maybe a full head bleach to white but im afraid it will damage my hair a lot. i want an undercut.

i also really wanted it aqua or teal but i dont like the fadeout, i think colder colors or colder blue fade prettierly.

Mythological elements of japanese culture exhibited in the costumes of Tokyo Revengers.

In the last months of the past year an exhibition was held, it take place un Osaka, Japan and in that exhibition of Tokyo revengers we was able to see merch, sculture, art, etc, all referent at the anime. But in this ocassion the important part is the promotional poster, where we can see the main characters and principals of the history, and each of them were wearing costumes with their characteristic colour and a stamping of animals, demons or spirit that are from the japanese culture, these stamping are conected whit the role each character plays in the anime.

We are going to see the mythological creature and how their leyend are conected with the character who wear it, in this ocassion we’re gonna see 3 characters only. Warning, this might contain spoilers.

Takemichi Hanagaki

In him costume we see the representation of the Fish Koi, wich represents courage, bravery, effort and overcome the obstacles.

In the japanese leyend, Koi who managed to reach the end of the river were rewarded for their effort and perseverance, turning into a majestic dragon.

Takemichi in all the manga shows us repeatedly his perseverance, firstly trying to save Hinata and later Mikey, striving hard to achieve his goals regardless of all the difficulties that were presented along the way. The manga isn’t finished yet so we can’t determinated is he can to reach the end of the “river” (save everyone from a terrible future) and turning in a “dragon” (maybe die trying the happines of everyone).

Manjiro Sano

We can see the figure of the Yokai Nue in mikey’s costume. The Nue are one of the most ancients demonds of the japanese culture, is named in different periods, being the Heian, Wamyo Ruijusho the first (938 a.c)

The Nue have the head of a monkey, the body of a tanuki, the tail of a snake and the extremities of a tiger. Is name is compound by 2 kanjis what means “night” and “bird”.

These demons bring bad luck and diseases, pest carriers and bad omen. They create terror in Japan, cause just their presence can bring devastation. Inside the yokai world this demons is simbol of respect, all his brothers and demons of below level respect him cause his bad luck and negative energies can pass to them, and also to the humans.

This mythological creature is a very good representation of what is mikey in the manga, someone superior, everyone below him appreciate, adore and respect him, even if they are not accord of his ideals. In every timeline, whatever happend if for Mikey, even in the first one, were he don’t have the dark impulse, is he the reason of everything in the manga, good or bad.

Ryuguji Ken

Draken is represented by the dragon Seiryuu, who represents the water, the spring and the blue colour. In Japan think that Seiryuu protects the east of Kyoto and algo the stations of the year. Is in the spring were japaneses celebrate biggers ceremonies of their culture so they think seiryuu are protectem them.

The leyend say that before Seiryuu hide, him walked and lived with the humans. He lived in a temple were the humans go to comunicate and receive his bless. Seiryuu has a warm and considerated heart, algo a is so empatic with the live’s creature. When this God fly around the sky can bring happines to the people hearts.

In all the manga, even when draken died, he is mentioned like a creature of light, a hope, a person with golden heart, and the heart of mikey and Toman, draken was important in all the lifes he touch, and he do everything to make his friends happier, he put his life in danger many times for Toman, and for mikey.
