Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

But I won’t always be there,

And neither will you.

Roses mean love,

Blue violets for my dove,

An everlasting union,

Made by those above.

But roses all wither,

and violets all fade.

Maybe that’s why this poem was laid,

In such a pattern, written like so,

A dream of the impossible,

The hope that none shall fade.

But you and I both know, my dear,

That blue violets aren’t real,

For someday I will leave this life,

And, my life, so will you.

(I’m too tired to write this better but basically I just started studying flower language and realized “blue” violets, even though they don’t technically exist, are supposed to mean “I’ll always be there.” And yes, I’m being very melodramatic about the idea of humans making a way for something to exist that shouldn’t for love and the way we can dye flowers but they still die and we can prolong people’s lives but they still die too-
