i have very little memories left from my time in the megaman fandom but the most insane thing thats implied in game to me is whenever you fight as protoman you are not only trying to save the city but also the life of your enemy

#365DaysOfVGM Day 119:
Ending [Proto Man] (Rockman 3: Dr. Wily no Saigo!?/Mega Man 3, including the Mega Man 3 / Ending version [We are ROCK-MEN!] [1990/2011])
You’ll have a hard time finding an NES track as emotional as this one. The iconic Whistle this character and his theme is known for is just the icing on top of the well-known and revered cake!
Unfortunately, it’s not fully played in-game, because the sequence it plays in doesn’t last long enough. Thankfully, the full melody isn’t forgotten, as later remixes, both in-game and for albums, play the full thing. Speaking of those…
The version from the official “We are ROCK-MEN!” album brings the track closer to the namesake Blues (His name in all Japanese scripts) genre just for its use of more “realistic” instruments alone, making up for the lack of a Whistle in it. Definitely worth a listen for fans of the original track as is!
(Length before loop [Original]: 2+ minutes, [Album]: 3.5+ minutes)

Dr. Light: How do you get through tough times?
Rock: I simply don't have them!
Blues: I internalize the pressure until it builds up so much I snap.
Bass: I gaslight myself! I tell myself that this makes me stronger, and the universe is just testing me... The universe better watch its back.
Dr. Light: You're all insane.
