crack AU idea:
The war is over. Sheevy is dead. Everything is perfect.
...except for the little bitty problem of how the clones don't have citizenship and aren't even recognized as sentient beings.
Jedi are scrambling to find a way to get the clones legal rights and finally realize that the easiest way is to just accept them into the Jedi order, which would grant automatic citizenship.
But you gotta be force-sensitive. Since they're all clones of Jango Fett, who was as force-sensitive as a rock, they don't qualify. (I love the idea of FS-clones but just not in this AU lol.)
Jocasta does some digging in the archives and discovers something interesting: an old old old law, SUPER old, that states that the spouse of any Jedi, and that spouse's immediate relatives, are automatically granted a place in the Jedi order, regardless of midichlorian levels. (Back when getting married was something Jedi did, they knew that that meant if the spouse & spouse's family was non-Jedi, they could be in danger/used as leverage against the Jedi, and this was a way to protect them.)
And clones definitely count as immediate relatives.
Chaos ensues.
I'm picturing a council meeting where half the Jedi just left to go find some Space Asprin because the whole fiasco is a headache and the rest of the people there are:
Depa, chatting with Shaak: I considered myself and Grey, but we've always been more like platonic partners. I know he sees Caleb as a son, but my feelings for him are familial and I know it's the same for him.
Shaak: I agree, some of the clones overheard me saying I would do it if it meant they'd be safe and their response was unanimously no no no you're like our mom
Plo, to no one in particular: Does it have to be a marriage? Could it be an adoption? asking for a friend.
Anakin, newly appointed to the council: wait so NOW we can get married??????
Obi-Wan: no Anakin, this is an extenuating circumstance, not a new rule
Anakin: we could make it a new rule
Plo, turning to Shaak: what if we got married, and then adopted all the clones?
Aayla, kicking the door open: I VOLUNTEER
...I have many more thoughts about this AU and will elaborate later.

This very much feels to me like a case of 'I saw this post that's related to an issue that's close to my heart and I'm a bit miffed OP didn't include that in the post' which is... a common problem on tumblr. I get where both of you are coming from, but I think they're overlapping but ultimately tangential points. I very much interpreted your post to be pointedly aimed at people who get caught up in the 'lol why y'all so obsessed with shipping why can't you write characters who are just friends' rhetoric. I've seen the posts, I've seen people deal with the shame after being subjected to them over and over.
I don't want to say your post was wilfully misinterpreted, more that it touched a nerve and it might have been more appropriate for a new post to be written, that linked to it saying 'hey, I read this, and it got me thinking about issues around tagging on Ao3 and how when people misuse the system or overtag it's frustrating as all HECK' which is... so true oh my god. Even for romantic relationships - you try finding a Blyla fic where it's not a briefly mentioned side pairing without having to click onto at least the second page of ship tag results.
And I completely agree that avoiding tagging of a gen fic in the gen category because of background pairings is doing nobody any favours. 'minor or background relationships' is an official relationship tag on Ao3, more people maybe need to know about it.
(and by all means, just read this and delete or reply on private if you don't want this convo carrying on on your blog)
Haha I feel you about the briefly-mentioned side pairing thing pfff. Soooo frustrating! XD
But yeah, I agree that all parties are essentially talking about the same thing, which is just not being dicks to other people about what they ship or don't ship. Thank you for the message though! You managed to put into words why I was getting frustrated with the conversation veering off on some extreme tangents, so I appreciate it! :)

Interviewer: So, how would you describe your relationship with your Jedi?
Rex: *long, long, long, long sigh* Idiot siblings.
Cody: don't get me started
Rex: to clarify, I'm not the idiot.
Colt: *wordlessly pulls up sleeve to reveal "I-heart-Mom" tattoo on his bicep*
Cody: I have sympathy for Rex because Skywalker just DOES things but Kenobi, he, he thinks things through, and then he STILL does those things even if they're HORRIBLE IDEAS—
Fox: *chugs coffee, slams cup down so hard it breaks* bold of you to assume I have a Jedi
Gree: Not family, but definitely close friends.
Cody: —reckless, ridiculously self-sacrificing, no regard for his own safety—
Grey, dead serious, no hesitation: caleb is my son
Whatever clones are in Master Tapal's battalion: *chanting, one of them holds Cal up like Simba* BABY BOY BABY BOY BABY BOY
Cody: —can't even leave him alone for two minutes because he goes and loses his lightsaber in the middle of a battle—
Ponds: I'd like to say we're blood-brothers bound through the heat of battle because that sounds neat, but honestly, Master Windu and I, we're—we're fire-forged coworkers.
Wolffe: I can neither confirm nor deny that I bought Master Plo a Galaxy's Best Dad mug
Cody, staring vacantly into space: I'm so underpaid
Bly: no comment

i would like to put forward the headcanon that bly is remarkably calm and composed around general secura and whenever his brothers ask about him he's 100% able to believably deny that he likes her and for a while people believed him but then one time. someone. some random clone. just started teasing him, super childishly, and he FELL APART. blushing mess, trying to hide in his helmet, can only speak in one syllable words.

May I present a snippet from my Chat Fic part 2: this time, guest starring the Jedi Council chat!
troublemaker
ooh hey if the war’s over and the clones don’t technically work for us anymore, does that mean that a jedi and a clone could go on a date I mean if the attachment rules werent a thing obviously Asking for a friend
Swimwear Model
I didn’t know you were friends with Aayla, Skywalker
The Mom
YOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The Dad
So, i was thinking Maybe if the senate doesn't pass those clone rights laws we should just adopt our battalions and then nobody could try to hurt them or anything because they’re our sons
Master Windu
For the love of the Force, Plo, please just let that one go
The Mom
I think it might be a good plan Just in case
Master Windu is offline

yknow when I started writing Time Heals All Wounds, Quinlan Vos was just a plot device to get Sabine into the Lothal temple, but I'm so glad I kept him around after the time-yeet because otherwise there would be no reason for Sabine and Aayla to meet each other and become friends and hang out and chat about explosives and their crazy friends and aayla's not very secret crush stuff
this is not just an excuse to add gratuitous blyla to my fic, i swear
actually maybe it is but don't worry, they still pass the bechdel test like 62% of the time
...I'm not proud of the other 38%
