‘’she’s the sweet to your savoury’’
Hey @kaijuusandkryptids! Here’s your gift for @bmc-gift-exchange! Have some Jake helping Chloe with some gifts for Brooke! Hope you enjoy it!
“Chlo, I have absolutely no idea why you need me to tag along with you,” Jake said as he followed Chloe down the street. He shoved his hands in the pockets of his jacket, watching his friend for a moment. The two of them had patched up their (unhealthy) relationship. They weren’t good together, they both knew that. But they couldn’t keep running right back to each other, constantly making each other jealous, or miserable. And, frankly, Jake liked this Chloe much better. They were better off as friends, and they were close friends at that. Which meant that Jake got to see a side of Chloe he hadn’t seen in a long time, back before the first time they started dating. Back when their friendship, and later relationship, was purely innocent. He had to admit, he missed that about her. Right now, Chloe was almost unreadable. She was determined, she always was. There was a hint of anxiousness underneath. Why, Jake wasn’t so sure. Chloe huffed, tugging her jacket tighter around her as the cold wind bit at her. She was definitely regretting deciding to walk today. “Because I value your opinion.”
She didn’t need to look at Jake to see the questioning look on her face. She sighed, pulling the hair out of her face. “And because you can stop me from going overboard.” Jake sighed, shaking his head. “This is Brooke we’re talking about, you realise that, right?” “Exactly!” Chloe said. “It’s Brooke! So, everything needs to be perfect.” “Counterpoint- Brooke will be happy with whatever you get her as long as it comes from you.” Chloe sighed, shaking her head. Stupid Jake. Jake was right. Who gave him the right to actually have some decent advice when it came to relationships? She had to admit, his occasional bursts of wisdom weren’t a bad thing. But can’t she just worry about making sure that everything is perfect for her girlfriend? “You know I’m right, Chloe.” “Shut up…” Chloe mumbled. Jake let out a soft laugh. The girl let out a huff and dragged Jake into the mall. They were immediately greeted by the warm air from the heating. “I don’t understand why we walked,” Jake said. “Because I thought it was a good idea. And I was clearly wrong.” Jake sighed, shaking his head. “You’re way too tense, Chlo.” “I am not.” “We are going to Sbarro's before we do anything else.” “Jake, I need to find something for Brooke!” Chloe ducked around Jake, heading towards a store her and Brooke frequently went to. Jake sighed and turned around. He grabbed Chloe’s shoulders, steering her away from the store. “Sbarro's, Pinkberry, then shopping for Brooke.” Chloe huffed. “You’re not going to let me say no, are you?” Jake grinned. “Nope!” He wrapped an arm around Chloe’s shoulders as he led her through the mall.
“You always get the most boring flavours,” Chloe said, stirring her frozen yogurt. The two of them sat opposite each other in a booth at Pinkberry. Jake rolled his eyes. “Says the one who puts pineapple on pizza.” “It’s not actually that bad!” “Fruit doesn’t belong on pizza!” “The sweetness from the pineapple compliments the savoury of the pizza. It goes perfectly together.” Jake hummed for a moment, eating a spoonful of his strawberry frozen yogurt. “Maybe you should get Brooke some pineapples.” Chloe paused, just about to eat another mouthful of her mint-chocolate yogurt. She slowly lowered the spoon and frowned. Jake could almost see the wheels turning in her head. “Why the fuck would I get Brooke a pineapple?” “One, I said pineapples, plural. Two, Brooke is the sweet to your savoury. The pineapple to your pizza.” Chloe just stared at Jake for a moment. “Did you seriously just make a metaphor for Brooke and I out of pizza?” “Are you going to sit there and tell me I’m wrong?” “I…” “You can’t argue against me, Valentine. You could get her something sweet, something yellow. Yellow is her favourite colour, right? She’s always wearing that yellow cardigan of hers. It looks incredibly comfortable. And she’s a sweet tooth, right? Chloe, are you-” “Shut up.” “What-“ “I said, shut up. I’m thinking.” “Don’t overthink this gift.” “Jakob Samuel Dillinger, I swear to God if you don’t shut the hell up, I will pour your frozen yogurt on your head.” Jake smiled and nodded. He mimed zipping his lips shut and throwing away the key. He went back to eating his frozen yogurt. It took a few minutes before Chloe stood up, her frozen yogurt now a sad puddle of chocolate and mint. Jake hummed, placing the cup down. “I need you to find a recipe for honey lemon cupcakes and get the ingredients. Then meet me at the florist.” Jake nodded, giving Chloe a mock salute as he stood. “Roger that,” he said before he walked out of the store. Chloe sighed, running a hand through her hair. She walked out of Pinkberry, finding her way into a toy store.
A few minutes later, Jake walked into the florist with a few bags full of baking ingredients. He smiled as he saw Chloe. She was hugging a giant plush bee, and he could see a small teddy bear poking out of her bag. He let out a soft hum before walking over to her. “I take it there’s one more thing on your shopping list?” Chloe groaned, hiding her face in the stuffed bee for a moment. She lifted her head again, almost glaring at the bunches of roses she was standing in front of. “I want to get her flowers. But I don’t know what flowers to get her!” “Well, what does Brooke remind you of?” Chloe took another look around the store again, her eyes landing on the bundles of sunflowers. “I’ll take all of them.”
---
Jake followed Chloe into the house, kicking the door shut behind them. “I’m sure you did not need to buy every single bunch of sunflowers.” “I don’t think this will be enough! I should have bought them all.” Jake shook his head. “You have plenty of sunflowers. Now, what’s the plan?” “Well- we need to make and decorate the cupcakes. And I want to make flower crowns out of these sunflowers- The gifts need to be wrapped and presented perfectly-“ “I’m going to stop you right there, Chlo.” Chloe frowned, about to open her mouth to protest before Jake cut her off. “No offence, but you are terrible at baking. I’ll deal with the cupcakes, you make the flower crowns. And it doesn’t have to be perfect, Brooke will love anything you do.” Chloe sighed, giving Jake a reluctant nod. He set everything on the table while Jake disappeared into the kitchen. “You owe me big time!” He called out. That put a smile on Chloe’s face. “Already planning Rich’s gifts for you!”
After a long afternoon, Chloe sat slumped in a chair at the table. A vase sat in the middle with a bundle of sunflowers. Another bunch laid next to it, perfectly wrapped in yellow paper and ribbon. A brown paper gift bag sat next to them, the bee and teddy bear nestled inside. The two flower crowns sat in front of Chloe, along with the unused sunflowers. Jake came out and placed a tray of cupcakes down in front of the gifts. He looked at Chloe. “Go freshen up, I’ll make sure everything stays okay down here.” Chloe rolled her eyes and stood up. “Thought you said Brooke wouldn’t mind if everything wasn’t perfect.” “I did. But, my dear Chloe, there’s a difference between things not looking one hundred per cent perfect and you looking absolutely shattered before your date.” Chloe let out a laugh, shaking her head as she headed upstairs.
She returned a few moments later only for Jake to place one of the crowns on her head. She rolled her eyes but smiled. She leaned up, placing a friendly kiss to his cheek. “Thank you, Jake.” Jake smiled in return. “Not a problem. You have no idea how often I have to deal with you two overthinking your dates.” The doorbell rang and Jake smiled. He picked up the remaining flower crown. “I’ll take that as my cue to leave. Have fun. But not too much fun,” he said playfully. Chloe laughed, sitting down at the table.
Jake opened the door, smiling at Brooke. “Well, you’re just in time. And you look fantastic.” Brooke smiled back. “Thanks, Jake. What are you doing here?” “Damage control. Just leaving. Chloe made you this-“ he placed the flower crown on Brooke’s head before stepping past her. “Enjoy your date!” Brooke waved back at Jake before stepping inside. She shut the door behind her before looking for Chloe. The blonde stopped in the doorway at the sight of the gifts on the table. “Chlo… You didn’t have to do all this…” Chloe smiled. She stood up and walked over, wrapping her arms around her girlfriend. “Mm… Maybe so, but my girlfriend only deserves the world.” Brooke giggled as Chloe pressed a kiss to her lips. “I already have the world. I have you.”

gift for bmc summer gift exchange!
a fluffy boyfs as requested by @riot-meme for the @bmc-summer-gift-exchange
Pairing: Boyf riends (Jeremy Heere/Michael Mell)
Genre: Fluff
Word Count: 1,098
Warnings: None, but Jeremy does have a bit of a crisis
Read on Ao3!
It’s not beautiful, Jeremy thought, staring a little too long at Michael’s hair. The dim light above the sink silhouetted and lit it perfectly, and it had been tousled from a night of flopping and moving on basement floors. It’s not... He’s not…
– –
The last thing Jeremy needed at the moment was a sexuality crisis. The world, being as cruel and sadistic as it was, begged to differ.
The night had started the same way most others had. The two would meet up after school, jam all the way back to Michael’s house, conveniently ignore the likelihood of his car falling apart with them in it, raid the Mell’s fridge, and disappear into the basement. Easy plan to follow, easy plan to execute, and rest assured, Jeremy and Michael were experts in the field.
Nearing the end of their twelfth failed round of Apocalypse of the Damned, Michael flung himself backwards into his beanbag with a sigh.
“Too hard… Too fuckin’ hard.”
“That’s what she said.”
“Jeremy I am going to run you over one of these days, I swear to God.”
Despite the emptiness of the threat the two boys decided not to push it further, and instead fell back into a comfortable silence. November air outside and poor insulation in their shitty basement dwelling forced the two to create an elaborate blanket fort and lay closer than was heterosexually acceptable for two teenage boys (despite the lack of heterosexuality from at least one member of the party).
Giving up on the game, Jeremy watched as Michael began to scroll through his movie collection. “Mmm… Wargames? No, too involved for this late… Stand By Me? Nah, I’m not in a Stephen King mood. Wait, why the hell do I only have eighties movies?”
Jeremy laid upside down on his beanbag in a daze… Were his eyes always that dark of a brown? They were kind of beautif-
“-eremy? Jer? Yo space cadet, how do we feel about Ferris Bueller?” Jeremy shook his head a little and rubbed at his eyes.
“Sounds good,” flipping right side up, “Wait to start it, I’ll be right back.”
Jeremy struggled his way out of their fort and stumbled toward the stairs a little. He filled a glass with water and sat on the kitchen counter, careful to stay quiet and not wake Michael’s sleeping mothers on the second floor.
He gripped the glass tightly and closed his eyes, trying to rationalize his thinking. Bros can totally love each others eyes. Totally. Why was he struggling with this? Jeremy loved Michael’s moms, and was his biggest supporter when he came out as well, but couldn’t bring himself to admit that maybe he wasn’t the straightest. It would explain a lot, really, his fixation on Marty McFly and Duran Duran and Wow, did he and Michael watch and listen to a lot of eighties.
He had always admired those with exorbitant amount of pride, and never understood why he felt so insecure and longing around them, except, now he did. Jeremy Heere had just had a sexuality crisis and internal exploration session in Michael Mell’s kitchen at one in the morning. Fuck.
Jeremy heard footsteps behind him and refused to open his eyes. He had recognized Michael’s gait. “You good, Jem? It’s been half an hour…”
“I-” Jeremy opened his eyes and took a minute to gather his thoughts, “I’m good, better now, I think, but fine. Sure.” Michael, ever the saint, said nothing about the feet on his countertop, and instead hopped up to join the other boy.
He ran a hand up the shaking, Wait, when did that start?, boy’s back and into his hair. It was a soft moment of silence in the kitchen.
Jeremy loved how Michael never rushed him to speak. Jeremy loved how he knew how to comfort him in moments of rampant and abrupt crisis. Jeremy loved Michael’s hands running through his hair, and his comforting weight against his side, and his voice softly calling,
“Jem?”
He turned his head to look at him, hand falling from his hair. Still not completely back to normal, Jeremy’s eyes fell on Michael’s hair. Michael raised his eyebrows,
“Ready to go downstairs?” Jeremy nodded in response, but wasn’t paying attention to what he agreed to. Taking Michael’s hand, he slid down from the counter.
It’s not beautiful, Jeremy thought, staring a little too long at Michael’s hair. The dim light above the sink silhouetted and lit it perfectly, and it had been tousled from a night of flopping and moving on basement floors. It’s not... He’s not…
Oh…
So maybe it wasn’t little things about Michael he loved, it was all of him. He stood frozen on the floor, gaze dropping to meet the other’s.
“I think… I think I just had a sexuality crisis.”
– –
“Joining the Not Straight Gang?” Michael asked after coaxing Jeremy back into the basement and to a less anxious state. His head still rested in Michael’s lap as both hands threaded through his hair,
“Yeah… Yeah I definitely think so.”
The answer seemed unfinished, yet still they lapsed into another comfortable silence.
“Hey Micah?”
 “Hmm?”
“I think I’m like… Totally gone over you.” The hands moving through his hair paused for what felt like hours, and resumed after seconds. “You wanna, like, grace me with an answer? Or can we leave it there so I can drown in anxiety once it sinks in?”
“Shit, yeah, no, sorry, just processing.” Michael began to connect the dots in his head.
When enough dots were connected to satisfy him, he looked at the boy in his lap, and brought a hand from his hair to trace his cheek. “Yeah… Yeah I can roll with that, I’ve been waiting a while for this.”
“For what?”
“You to realize you liked me back, like a lot, but I knew you had shit to work through that you didn’t see yet, so I’ve been waiting to tell you how much I love you.”
“You knew? I didn’t even know?”
“You’ve been giving me looks like I stole the moon just for you for a while now, and it makes me feel like I’m on top of the world, how could I not notice? But I’m so glad that we both know now.”
“Hmm, me too,” Jeremy took a breath, the dead of night wasn’t the ideal time for things this hard hitting. “Guess now would be a good time to tell you that I think you’re beautiful?”
“Well, just as long as I get to return the favor.”

Okay so basically this is my gift to @soyamorsoyvida as part of the @bmc-summer-gift-exchange. I don't write too many fanfics so I hope this is good. Feel free to leave feedback!
Fireworks
'12th grade, what a year?' Jeremy thinks as he and Michael slowly walk hand in hand up a small hill.
So much has happened in the span of their 4 years in high school. So many memories, so many regrets, so many "best night of their lives" and so many friends were made, but even after everything Michael has always remained by Jeremy's side; there to pull him back into reality and to comfort him in times of distress. An example being when Christine and him broke up, she had managed to get into one of the best preforming arts colleges in the country early and had to move. They both knew that she couldn't miss this once and a life time opportunity and she made her decision and packed her bags, leaving New Jersey. They were both incredibly uncomfortable with the idea of a long distance relationship and mutually agreed to end their relationship before she left but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt like hell. Jeremy was absolutely devastated by the break up but Michael was there to comfort him and told him exactly what he needed in that moment.
Even after all that pain, Jeremy was still happy it happened because it was the spark that set off their firework of a relationship. Roughly 4 months after the break up, Jeremy and Michael got together. It happened one day when they were playing video games in Michael's basement and he kept failing a level for them, getting annoyed at losing, Jeremy asked him what was up and he ended up accidentally confessing when he unknowingly mentioned how he kept getting distracted by Jeremy's face. One thing led to another another and they ended up kissing in each other's lap for the rest of the afternoon.
After they got together they eventually started coming out to their families and friends. Soon months started passing and by senior prom they had been on of the most loved and known couple in the school.
Jeremy doesn't know why he ever doubted it but with Michael by his side, the remainder of his high school life was a breeze and soon came to an end with graduation. Neither of them had been top of their class but that doesn't mean that they weren't proud of all that they had accomplished.
Their school life was over but their life together had just begun. They decided to take a gap year to save up money for a house or apartment and to make sure college wouldn't break their bank too badly. They were excited for the future but they were quite content with their life now. Their life together...that's exactly what put Jeremy in the situation he's in now, being pulled along by an exciting Michael.
They had finally arrived at their destination which happened to be a tall and wide tree that sat neatly on top of a secluded hill. This was the place of many past dates and also the place they were going to watch the fireworks tonight, it was the 4th of July after all. Michael began to lay out the blanket they brought as Jeremy prepared the snacks. When they finished preparing everything they sat down beside each other, Jeremy's head laying on Michael's shoulder gently. "Tonight is going to be great!" Michael exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement as the sun began to set. "Hell yea it is!" Jeremy shared that same excitement. They both adored fireworks, they loved the rush you'd get after hearing one boom and the amazing visuals that followed. They loved every part of the experience. They talked about whatever came to mind for a while until they were just sitting in comfortable silence.
"Hey Jeremy, before the fireworks start I wanna say somethin" Michael started, his voice trailing off. With his intrest peaked and now slightly concerned because of Michael's tone of voice, Jeremy answers, "Yea? What's up". "Well...we've been together for over a year but best friends for forever and I just want you to know that every day with you has been an adventure. I'm so grateful that I met you and that we're able to share such a cool life together and-" Michael turned to face Jeremy all the way and took something out of his pocket. Jeremy gasped and looked at Michael a little apprehensively, sure he loved Michael but he didn't know if he was ready for-Michael's next words quickly dragged Jeremy out of his thoughts. "Relax", Michael laughed awkwardly. "I'm not proposing" he said as he tried to sooth Jeremy, this proved to be effective because almost immediately he stopped shaking. He opened the little box and inside was a mood ring. It wasn't one of those cheap ones you'd find in a novelty store or arcade booth but it wasn't wedding ring expensive either. "Its a promise ring", Michael elaborated. "It's my promise to you that no matter what happens I'll be by your side and I'll try my best to make you happy. On your rainy days I'll be that very gay and bright rainbow in the sky, when your happy I want to reflect that same happiness, when your angry, I want to make you a cup of tea and play video games to calm you down enough for you to talk about it. So I promise to do that." Michael finished his speech and then slid the ring on Jeremy's hand. Jeremy smiled, tears in his eyes as he tries to find the words to express just how happy he feels right now. So instead of finding the words he just shakes his head, laughs, and instead says "God Michael, that was probably the cheesiest shit I've ever heard". Michael playfully rolls his eyes as he smiles his signature big, goofy grin. As they sit there smiling at each other, faces close, they lean into each other and share a sweet and passionate kiss. It doesn't last long because before anything else can happen the fireworks start up in the back ground. They excitingly go back to their original position and watch the fireworks in peace. The electrifying green lights up the sky in a ripple effect as it dances with the scarlet red and gold sparks and when the colors begin to fade they leave a smoky impression in the sky.
As the night goes on and the fireworks keep raging, Jeremy realizes something; fireworks are a lot like their relationship because there's always something new and exciting waiting; its exhilarating and even when the boom has passed and the colors fade, they remain and leave an impression in each other's lives.

BMC Flash Fic Gift Exchange
Hello, everybody and welcome to Be More Chill Flash Fic Gift Exchange 2k17! This is a little thing, mostly a test for myself to see how to moderate gift exchanges, but also because i haven't seen a single gift exchange for this fandom which is something we definitely need to fix. As it says on the tin, this is only a flash fic exchange, which means it's a short amount of time for a short fic- somewhere between 1k to 3k words.
The theme for this one is favorite headcannons! For example, your request can be: "jeremy/michael, chubby!michael" or "christine&jeremy, autistic christine", or whatever you want! You can also request a specific au, and/or whether you want angst or fluff.
Sign-Ups Due: August 30th Assignments given: By September 2nd Assignments Due: September 27th Works Posted: September 30th

Michael keeps his head down as he navigates out of the party, past kids taking shots and making out on couches, and breathes out a sigh of relief when he finally finds himself at the front porch of Jake Dillinger’s house.
That is, until he spots one Brooke Lohst, sobbing on a deck chair.
Michael backs away slowly, but then she looks up at him.
“What are you doing here?” she says, but it has no venom. “You weren’t invited.”
“I came with—Nicole,” he says, the first name that pops to mind. She’s the girl he sits next to in Latin, and despite the fact she only took Latin to learn the etymology of Harry Potter spells, she‘s decently cool—cool enough to (hopefully) have been invited to a Jake Dillinger party. “I’m leaving, though, she said she has a ride with someone else.” Michael hesitates, then his curiousity gets the best of him, and he asks, “What’s wrong?”
It’s stupid to care about the (probably trivial) problems of popular kids. But Brooke seems genuinely upset.
“Oh, nothing,” she snaps. “Just that your best friend cheated on me with mine.”
Michael cautiously sits down on the other chair beside her.
“Looks like he’s breaking hearts left and right.”
Brooke looks at him oddly, and Michael has to add with a roll of his eyes, “Platonically for me, romantically for you. Better?”
Brooke sighs and wipes at her eyes.
“What did Jeremy do to you?”
Michael hesitates to answer. He can’t say too much without bringing up the squip.
“I…told him that he was becoming a jerk, and…trying too hard to be cool and losing all of his personality on the way, and after a bunch of yelling he called me a loser and stormed out.”
And wow, did he actually just say that? To Brooke Lohst?
“Yeah,” says Brooke, though, and what is happening? “If I could go back I kinda wish I hadn’t changed myself so much to get cool.”
“What do you mean?” Michael says before he can stop himself.
Brooke snorts. “I was, like, the dorkiest kid,” she says. “I had this hideous yellow cardigan and blue glasses with these gigantic frames. I looked dumb but at least I liked how I looked. Now I’ve got to wear these skinny jeans and skimpy tops that I hate just because I’m popular.”
Michael doesn’t know how to react. He thinks of his warm red hoodie back at home, and how he’d feel if he was forced not to wear it. That’s not really the same, but it kind of is.
“Why don’t you just, not wear skinny jeans and stuff?” Michael says slowly. “If you hate them so much then why do you still wear them?”
Brooke rolls her eyes. “It’s not that easy.”
Michael doesn’t really get it, but he doesn’t press the point. Instead, he settles back into the deck chair, feeling the most calm he has in a while. This is...absolutely not where he expected to end up tonight.
“Hey,” Michael says finally, and the words are spilling out of his mouth without input from his brain, which is screeching in protest. “Do you, um. Do you want to hang at my house?”
Brooke tilts her head. Michael rushes to clarify, “Like, I don’t think, um, either of us are in any shape to go home alone. And you’re actu—I mean, pretty cool?” Michael pauses, cringing at the lack of reaction. “Forget it, it was a stupid—”
“No,” Brooke says. “Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Yeah,” Brooke says, brushing herself off and standing up. She stops. “Wait. This isn’t a romance thing, right?”
Michael laughs out loud.
“Dude,” he says, breaking into a grin. “I’m the gayest gay to ever gay. You don’t have to worry about that.”

2020 Be More Quarantine Challenge
Stupid challenge names aside, the coronavirus pandemic has shut down schools and workplaces, activities have been cancelled, and almost everyone’s stuck at home. This is a fun little challenge to try and beat the boredom and spread good vibes in this scary and depressing time, but also because we don’t have anything better to do.
Basically, every few days, there is a new round with a new set of three prompts. From the prompts, you must write at least 500 words based on them, and you can’t just mention them in one line.
In addition, there will be 4 teams. Team Jeremy, Team Christine, Team Brooke, and Team Michael. You must mention your team’s character  in every story, whether they are the main character or it’s simply a throwaway line about Brooke walking by.
Every weekend there is the Wordy Weekend round where you get six prompts and Friday, Saturday and Sunday to complete them. This must be 1,000 words long, but if you go higher there will be more points
The challenge will last 4 weeks, starting on Monday the 23rd of March and ending on Monday, the 20th of April. If the coronavirus pandemic is still continuing and schools and such are still closed, the challenge may be extended, either extended as-is or points reset for a new game.
Even if you don’t sign up, please reblog and tell your friends, this is a fun boredom buster competition and we could all use some fun in our lives right about now.

How To Sign Up
Signups are here. When you sign up, the last question will ask you to put in the secret code. It’s not very secret, it’s at the end of this post. Putting in the code is to prove you read this whole thing (unless you just scroll down and find the code, in which case, shame on you.)
After you sign up, you’ll get a tumblr message with the discord link in it. It’s very very very highly recommended that you join.
Signups are open until 5AM EST on Monday the 23rd. Teams and the first round will be revealed at 8AM sharp that day.
Posting As soon as you’re done with your fic for this round, post it on your tumblr and mention @bmc-gift-exchange, and list the prompts you used, your team, and your wordcount. You can also post on ao3, just make sure to post the link to it on ao3 on tumblr and still list the prompts you used, your team, and your wordcount.
The Scoring System
Base Points
Base points are your four base points for your fic if your story meets all four of the basic criteria:
3 points (1 for each prompt) is given if you used all 3 prompts *correctly* in your fic. If you didn’t use one or two prompts, two points will be subtracted from your base for each prompt.
1 point is given if you wrote at least 500 words. If you didn’t hit 500 words this point is simply not awarded, nothing subtracted.
Example scenario: Player 2 used 2 prompts and wrote 537 words. Because they only used 2 prompts, 2 points are subtracted from the base points. They get 2 points for the 2 prompts they did use, and 1 point for hitting 500 words, bringing their total base points to 3.
Extra Points
Extra points are added for extra work that you did, called the Wordcount Levels.
Over 700 (Bronze Level) - If you hit at least 700 words, you will get 2 points in *addition* to the 1 point you earned for hitting 500.
1k (Silver Level) - If you hit 1,000 words, you will get 3 points *in addition* to the 1 point you earned for hitting 500. You do not get the Over 700 points.
2k (Gold Level)- If you hit at least 2,000 words, you will get 4 points *in addition* to the 1 point you earned for hitting 500. You do *not* get the Over 700 or 1k points.
3k-5k (Titanium Level)- If you hit anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000 words, you will get 5 points *in addition* to the 1 point you earned for hitting 500. You do *not* get the Over 700, 1k, or 2k points.
Ultra 5k (Diamond Level) - If you hit at least 5,001 words, you will get 10 points *in addition* to the 1 point you earned for hitting 500. You do *not* get the Over 700, 1k, 2k, or 3k-5k points.
Extra Prompt Points: If you use previous prompts in your fic, you will get 2 points for every previous prompt you use.
Example scenario: Player 4 wrote a fic of 2,451 words. They used this round’s 3 prompts as well as one prompt from the previous round. Since they used all 3 prompts and hit 500 words, they get all 4 base prompts. Because they hit 2,000 words and the Gold Level, they get 4 extra points, and because they used a prompt from a previous round they get 2 extra points, bringing their round total to 10.
If everyone on the team submits their fics on time, regardless of their individual point totals, they will be awarded 5 extra points, in the Participation Award.
If your team is in first place, you get an additional 10 points. For second place, an extra 5 points. No place points are awarded for 3rd and 4th place.
If someone drops out, the team receives their 4 base points for the next challenge. If possible, someone may be drafted from a different team to take their place, or a new player may be brought in.
Wordy Weekend
On Wordy Weekend, things change! There will be a new twist for every single Wordy Weekend challenge, giving opportunity for more points, and regular points work slightly different.
Instead of the normal 3 prompts, you will get 6, and you must hit 1k words.
For every prompt out of the 6 Wordy Weekend prompts you use, you will get 2 base points instead of one. For previous prompts used, you get 3 extra points apiece.
For Wordy Weekend you must hit 1,000 words over the course of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and if you hit 1k you get 2 points in lieu of the one point you normally get for hitting 500.
The Wordcount Levels are changed as follows:
1.5k (Bronze Level) - 2 extra points
2k (Silver Level) - 3 extra points
3k - 4k (Titanium Level) - 4 extra points.
5k (Diamond Level) - 8 extra points
Ultra 5k (Sapphire Level) - 20 Extra Points.
During Wordy Weekend, the Ultra 5k is changed from at least 5,001 words to at least 5,500 words.
In addition to all that, during Wordy Weekend you get points for *every* level you hit, not just the level you land on on weekdays.
Example Scenario: Player 5 wrote 5,679 words and used all 6 prompts, and 4 previous prompts. For their use of the 6 prompts and hitting 1k, they get 14 base points. From their 4 previous prompts, they earn 12 extra points. Because they hit the Ultra 5k, they get the points from every level they hit, which gives them 37 level points, which is 49 total extra points, making their grand total 61.
If in this scenario the Player was Player 1, they would get the standard 2 extra points, bringing their total to 63 points.
Teams
Teams will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. The sooner you sign up, the better your chance of getting onto your desired team. If there are fewer requests for Team Michael than there are Team Christine, then some of the Team Christine people will be put on Team Michael. The goal is to have an even number of players on every team.
When teams are assigned, every player will get a number. Player 1 is selected randomly every round for every team, and every other player is simply numbered randomly and they keep their numbers the entire challenge unless they are selected as Player 1.
Player 1 of a team is the team captain, and as team captain they are responsible for psyching their team up for the next challenge and all throughout. Player 1 will get an extra 2 points just for being Player 1.
The Player 1 is randomly selected, and once you have been selected, you cannot be selected again except on Wordy Weekend, or if all the players get a chance to be Player 1 and there are still challenges left, in which case all players will be put back into the hat.
After your run as Player 1, you will receive your previous number and a new Player 1 is selected.
Round Specifics
There are 3 rounds a week, the first round of the week is from Monday to Tuesday, with results posted on Wednesday morning.
The second weekly round is Wednesday to Thursday, with points posted Friday morning. The third weekly round is Friday to Sunday, with results posted on Monday, and then the whole cycle begins again. This challenge will begin on a Monday and end after one last Wordy Weekend.
The total number of rounds will be 12.
On 4 of the rounds that are *not* Wordy Weekend rounds, there will be a twist to the regular round, and these rounds will be called Special Rounds.
Whether it’s a different number of prompts, or an extra way to earn points, or a extra bit aimed to let the teams behind catch up, or anything else your mind can conjure up. You will not be warned in advance of the Special Rounds.
Rankings
Rounds end on midnight EST on the last day. (For instance, if it’s the first round of the week, it ends on midnight on Tuesday.) You will have until 8AM the next day (Wednesday if it’s the first round of the week) to submit your fic if you haven’t already. Results will go up at 9AM sharp unless I’m suddenly not available, which would surprise me since the whole point is that we have nothing better to do than this right now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
The team in first place will be shown first, with their players listed by number and their point totals and wordcount Level shown, and at the bottom of the team listing, the team total. If a member did not submit their fic in time, they will not earn or detract points from the team. Then, the second place Team is shown, and then the third and forth. After that, the new prompts for the next round will be revealed in the same post.
Here is an example of the end of round results for a hypothetical First Place Team.
First Place - Team Christine
Player 1- 12 pts, 2,569 words, Gold
Player 2- 6 pts, 756 words, Bronze
Player 3- 10 pts, 2,111 words, Gold

Player 5- 14 pts, 5,321 words, Diamond
Participation Award - +5 points

Team Total: 57 points
