Concept Korea: Pitti, passerella privilegiata per la nuova moda made in Corea

Questione di orizzonti che si spostano ben più in là sulla mappa in progress della creatività fashion dedicata alle tendenze menswear: ovvero, quel luogo magnifico dove gli immaginari di moda s’incontrano, le ispirazioni si contaminano, i gesti sartoriali si conoscono e poi si fondono in forme nuove a tratteggiare silhouette inaspettate pronte ad essere indossate da identità altrettanto spalancate alle novità. 

Or dunque, diamo ora le coordinate esatte per individuare il paese prescelto da questa nuova esplorazione entusiasta: il punto di ritrovo per il viaggio annunciato è a Firenze, all’interno della pregiata vetrina dell’appena trascorsa edizione di Pitti Immagine Uomo 91, che per l’occasione diviene passerella importante per la moda nuova che sta accadendo in Corea! 

Ed ora, ecco i protagonisti che si offrono ad accompagnatori in questo nostro itinerario oltre i confini occidentali, meritevoli di essere scavallati alla scoperta di ciò che il vasto e multiforme universo fashion serba in un altrove apparentemente così lontano, eppure sorprendentemente così vicino e connesso ai gusti di questa nostra contemporaneità stilosa. 

Che si parta dunque dalla base, ovvero dalla collaborazione di recente celebrazione tra Pitti Immagine e KOCCA, Korea Creative Content Agency, la più importante agenzia governativa della Corea del Sud che sostiene la creatività coreana a livello nazionale ed internazionale, il cui frutto felice è appunto l’evento Concept Korea, che a sua volta ospita due nomi esordienti eppur già assai applauditi. 

È infatti andata in scena sulla passerella  dello spazio Dogana di Firenze lo scorso 11 gennaio 2017 la nuova moda made in Corea ad opera di BMUET(TE) by BYUNGMUN SEO e ORDINARY PEOPLE: due brand giovani, ma già risolutamente ancorati ognuno al proprio percorso fashionable che da una manciata di anni, esperienze e riconoscimenti, si sta brillantemente plasmando.

Ed in squisito ordine sparso presentiamo ora BMUET(TE) by BYUNGMUN SEO, brand fondato e orchestrato dal duo Byungmun Seo e Jina Um: ad esser precisi, appartiene al prêt-à-porter sia maschile che femminile, ma che ad occasione di Concept Korea porta in passerella un menswear allacciato scambievolmente al womenswear, un uomo affiancato dalla donna con cui condivide capi che provengono da un’ispirazione di bizzarria assai colta, ovvero le bambole disarticolate ed eroticamente ricomposte dell’artista surrealista tedesco Hans Bellmer mescolate alle suggestioni dagli accenni strambi eppur serissimi d’epoca Vittoriana. 

Il risultato è un carosello di creazioni dove le maniche sui maglioni si moltiplicano, le cinghie allacciano le giacche strette attorno al torso, i colli vittoriani si appendono ai colletti o diventano oblò spalancati sul retro di un cappotto dall’appiombo netto, i tagli affilati attraversano le giacche in pelle mentre le stratificazioni si moltiplicano sghembe ma affascinanti sulla figura come un capolavoro di layering, mentre la palette resta testardamente sobria, ma intensa. 

Ed ora è la volta di ORDINARY PEOPLE, marchio devoto al menswear disegnato da Jang Hyeong Cheol, protagonista acclamato della Seoul Collection, la settimana della moda coreana, già frequentatore di Pitti Immagine Uomo eppur fautore di interessanti novità, raccolte in una collezione la cui ispirazione nasce dallo sguardo viaggiatore del fashion designer, quell’occhio vigile che scorre tanto un paesaggio quanto un film, carpisce attitudini delle persone incontrate, profumi e sapori di vite incrociate e le riproduce in una collezione a tinte vivide che tagliano nette i cappotti over, danno forma a maglioni morbidi cosparsi di perline, diventano eleganti nei completi in velluto e rigano tanto i piumini legati in vita quanto le cravatte messe a vezzo di cintura. 

Creazioni tutte dedicate alla gente ordinaria, ovvero quella che rende la propria vita ogni giorno unica e straordinaria. Come? Semplice! Con la propria identità: vestita di guizzi di stilosità, magari come lezione di  giovane moda coreana insegna!

[INFO] Kai announced as global ambassador for 2022 S/S Seoul Fashion Week!

"Seoul Fashion Week will be held non-face-to-face for seven days from October 7th to 15th, 2021.

At this Seoul Fashion Week, a unique space where you can feel the traditional beauty of Korea, the history of Seoul, and the hip sensibility of Seoul will be the stage of the fashion show. For the first time in Seoul Fashion Week, fashion films will be produced in palaces including Gyeongbokgung Palace, a historical and tourist attraction representing Seoul.

The global ambassador for Seoul Fashion Week will be Kai of the group EXO. With the support of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Kai finished filming the runway in the costume of designer BMUET(TE), who is set to enter London Fashion Week this year, and will be unveiled for the first time on YouTube on September 15th.

All runway (fashion film) of "2022 S/S Seoul Fashion Week" is 100% pre-produced and can be viewed on online channels such as YouTube, Naver TV, and V LIVE. In particular, starting this fashion week, various contents such as backstage videos will be sent from TikTok.

Seoul Fashion Week will be a digital fashion show that promotes Seoul's fashion, tradition and culture around the world even in the COVID-19 situation."

The Selects, The Best

Hello, This is Winter. Everything is changing because of the Covid-19 but as everyone knows, this darkness will one day be lifted. Whatever choice you made, whether it was right or not later, you had a hard time making hard decisions, so just believe yourself. To have a short talk about me, I also came to New York with a good opportunity as an exchange student, but I am sad to leave New York earlier than scheduled. But I don't think anyone knows if this is going to be another chance. Life is not always my way and I think this is why I can live my life. Good school, internship, amazing professors, friends and coworkers. I was happy for short, fabulous three months and I think it was three months that reminded me of many things.

The most incredible internship at “The Selects”

 First of all, the internship I work in is the showroom of Select Shop. It's not too much to say that it's the center of fashion in New York. I'm so excited at first that my job was across from Michael Kors, next to Rolex, that I remember explaining my job like this to my mother over the phone. The Selects showroom represents ten top emerging Korean designers and provides them with exposure to the US market. Acting as a liaison to bridge the gap between designer and retailer, the showroom in Soho, New York City is a collaborative environment. Handpicked by industry leaders and insiders, the ten designers, Bmuet(te), Beyond Closet, The Centaur, Heohwan Simulation, Hidden Forest Market, KYE, LIE, Nohant, SWBD and Wnderkammer represent the most promising talent evolving in the Korean fashion industry. While the promotion of these designers is the primary goal of The Selects, the initiative aims to reach beyond just fashion through creative events, pop-ups and artist exhibitions. The Selects envisions to build on the already influential impact that K-culture is currently having on audiences world-wide.

What I learned from The Selects

 In this incredible showroom, I've done things that are big to small. When I first joined the company, it was a very busy week due to New York Fashion Week, and it was the busiest, but pleased time. On the first day of work, the models were walking in the showroom and the casting staff, the busy bosses were all so cool and I was so excited that they wanted me to do something that would help them. As with all interns do, it was physical but I was even so happy about it. Although it was a simple task like unpacking the clothes of the samples and steaming them on the hanger, I was so happy and proud to do. I worked with four other interns, and I'm proud to say that they were really nice, worked hard. Everyone worked so hard to finish the New York Fashion Week and we also have watched their runways. 

In our showroom, we also had held a party collaborating with Concept Korea which is also Korean Fashion Company and had a great time with our showroom people. We had fun eating buffet and dancing together with some celebrities in Korea and many influencers from New York and lots of other countries.

Business trip to Paris  Finally, I'm going to talk about my first business trip to Paris. At first, only two bosses was going on a business trip to Paris for a trade show in Lourve, which is similar to Coutrie trade show which we had been in New York. However, like what I mentioned before, the chance had come and I got it. Jeehee, who is one of my boss, texted in our group chat someone to come to Paris because of some problems happened, and I told my parents about it and they agreed, so I finally had free Paris business trip. After having solved problem, I helped them doing trade show successfully and enjoyed Paris, even having parties with new French friends. I felt different that I first visited Paris as traveling with my family. As an intern in The Selects, I feel something responsible about it so I acted carefully as I can.

Though I shorten my internship story, I had a really wonderful time in internship besides this, and I think this is the result of my efforts and my luck combined. I cannot explain how sad to end this amazing internship, but I definitely know that we are going to keep in touch and finally meet someday. Love yall🙏😭💕
