I’ve been working on a Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) AU fantasy/royal/magic fic for a while. Can’t seem to get a good storyline in place. I have the idea, but there are some gaps and things that don’t make sense.

Could be over thinking it, but I just don’t want it to come out poopy lol

Anyway, thought I'd share a bit of a snippet of it.

Bakugou x Reader x Todoroki (Final pairing and gender of reader: Undecided)

"Why are you so upset? Is everything okay?" You frown at Bakugou's unusually short temper.

"I said I'm fine! Just leave me alone already." A low growl flees from his downward turned lips, marching off in a different direction. "I don't understand why he is so angry. I don't think I have done anything to offend him." You replayed today's events and you couldn't find anything that you had done to wrong the blonde boy. "He's upset that I'm here." Todoroki immediately knew the origin of Bakugou's resentment. "What do you mean? Isn't it good that we're building numbers against the enemy?" "It's not that. He's jealous because he's in love with you." Your mouth opens slightly, but no words come out. Heat starts to rise in your cheeks as you fidget in your spot still failing to produce a sentence. You quickly compose yourself, letting out a short laugh as you wave your hand in front of your face. "That's impossible. There's no way. We've only been traveling together for a few weeks." Todoroki takes a step towards you, gently tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.

"It didn't take me long to fall for you."

BNH has many issues, but yeah when you compare it to RWBY. It's no contest which is overall more consistent with it's writing. Thats what so frustrating about RWBY. I love it, but it's so shallow and just a shadow of what it's concepts could be. The world feels so small. I really wish RWBY went the way of HxH or BNH. Make it story about the growth of young prodigies. I honestly hope Cinder and Neo just fuck shit up. Give them a real loss again. Plus give Cinder a reason to be feared again.

Personally, I’m most happy at either extreme:

Volumes 1-3: A simplistic and mostly lighthearted show, filled with plotholes and very little engagement with the issues that exist on the periphery of the main storyline. When they’re tackled briefly and often badly the audience is happy to shrug it off because they’re not the show’s true focus. We’re here to watch awesome fight animation and the girls go on presumably serious missions, but with largely comedic undertones. It’s largely shallow and that’s totally fine. It’s what we signed up for.

(Presumed) Volumes 4-6, starting with the final episodes of Volume 3: Okay, okay, okay the tone of this show changed dramatically. You’re now tackling these issues head-on and introducing a slew of others, trying to incorporate things like PTSD and racism in a much more realistic manner. The narrative is now much more concerned with the logistics of the story, the ethics behind each decision, and the impacts they have on those outside of our core group. This is no longer a shallow show and I can totally get behind it.

The problem is that, as said, RWBY often fails in those new efforts. The world remains too small for the impact they’re trying to imply. There are too many plotholes to sustain that focus on realism. Serious ethic consideration applies to only some scenarios and not others, etc. They abandoned the simple fairy tale format for a gritter, more dramatic story... which isn’t a bad thing. It was just a question of whether they could achieve that---and a lot of times RWBY falls flat. So it leaves us in this weird middle ground of, “This is no longer the 'rule of cool’ story I just watch in my down time; nor is it holding up against far better written animated fantasy tales tackling tough themes. So... yeah. Not quite sure what to do with it at times.”

BKDK as Cain and Abel

I was thinking about a localization of the name “Deku,” to do, to be able. And that was it, if I was rewriting BNH with a western mythology, I’d call Deku Able.

Able like Abel, the gentle shepherd, whom the powerful god favored over his brother Cain. When Cain killed Abel, god banished Cain to the life of a wanderer—a nomad, a barbarian, the way we see Bakugou in the fantasy AU.

I like it because of Cain’s self righteous anger and Abel’s gentle disposition, offering up a lamb as sacrifice. The image of Deku as a shepherd boy fits, as does the hard-working farmer turned nomad Bakugou.

Hii, love your blog! Can we get a scenario in reference to that fantasy ending? Maybe where the S/O is royalty and Todoroki is their knight but S/O gets kidnapped but manages to escape. S/O gets lost in the forest and they meet Bakugou lol is it possible to get a love triangle out of this? Lol you can change the plot to whatever makes more sense/easier or if it’s too much, you can totally ignore this. I basically crave a story with that AU fantasy/medieval BNH ending with Todoroki and Bakugou

Hi lovely, thank you very much, I’ll keep doing my best! And I hope that you didn’t mind how your request turned out. I tweaked it a bit or it would have gotten too long and I hope you don’t mind the strong hints towards a poly relationship. Aside from that, I very much hope that you’re going to like this and that I could write it well enough!

The horse’sears flick forward suddenly and Todoroki pauses when his horse stops and starestowards the trees that start to grow to their left, forming the beginning lineof a lush, thick and far reaching forest. Bakugou steps up to his side, castinga suspicious glare into the forest as well and then scowls at Todoroki.

“The fuckis it? You see any shit?” He grumbles, his words always sounding a tadmore like a growl.

At theshake of his head, Todoroki notices how Bakugou throws a quick glance to theperson sitting on the horse. He knows that Bakugou fell for them as well,though he respects that Todoroki is already together with them. Now, they’reboth working to get his love back to the castle safely.

Which is noeasy feat. After his partner managed to escape from the bandits who kidnappedthem and Todoroki tracked them down, he found them in the company of Bakugou,who claimed to travel in the same direction. Bakugou also said that he didn’tcare for them or anything - which isn’t true anymore, Todoroki is pretty sureof that - and they just took the same path as him. He’s been with them eversince they met over two weeks ago.

Todorokicertainly can claim that he got used to his presence and his at times abrasivenature. At the same time, he also notices the parts about Bakugou that weresofter, like him taking half the watch shifts every night so Todoroki can sleepenough or that he threw his cloak at their love when they felt cold one once.

Bakugou isattentive, always noticing things around him and he’s a formidable fighter,lithe and quick and explosive in his attacks. And despite the fact that it getscooler around them at night now, with the slow shifting of the seasons, herefuses to wear a shirt.

Somehow,Todoroki finds that he doesn’t feel threatened by him. Despite showing interestin his partner, once Bakugou realized they’re an item, he backed off. Ifanything, Todoroki begins to notice more and more about the person who couldhave been his rival if he were as callous as he tried to look.

“Howfucking long will it take to reach the damn castle?”, Bakugou grumbles inthis moment and relaxes back into an easy stance once Todoroki’s horse snortsand moves on.

“Aroundone more week, give or take, depending on how fast we’ll travel.” Todorokianswers easily and glances back at the royalty sitting on his horse. His lovelooks attentive and keeps an eye on their surroundings, though they can’t quitehide that they’re starting to feel tired.

Todorokiunderstands that, it’s going to be nightfall soon and they most likely will setup camp in a bit.

“Let’slook for a spot to spend the night.” Todoroki suggests and Bakugou nodswith a frown. He looks ahead and then points at a place in the distance.

“There.We’ll make it before nightfall.” Bakugou says.

He’s rightas well. They arrive in time and Bakugou and Todoroki take turns to collectfirewood and some wild berries and roots, never leaving his partner entirelyalone. The threat of the bandits is still around, as much as it irks Todoroki.Their safety comes first though, and Todoroki and Bakugou will bring his loveback to their home before dealing with their kidnappers.

Bakugouheads to sleep first after a light dinner, rolled up in his cloak and turned toface the crackling fire. In his sleep, his face looks a bit softer and he looksmore at ease, less scowl-y and quick to rile up.

“Ilike him.” His partner suddenly murmurs and Todoroki glances at them. Theylean against him and he wraps an arm around them, lightly kissing the top oftheir head.

Swallowing, he glances at Bakugou, at thecolor of the fire flickering over his relaxed face and lively hair and Todorokigives his love’s shoulder a gentle squeeze. “I think, I start to like himas well.”
