it looks like the circular blush on her cheeks has been replaced by blood which is not only HEARTBREAKING but also symbolic

okay

its unclear if its her blood or someone else’s but i feel like it doesn’t really matter

to me, the general erasure of her blush shows her maturity now, i think they’ve always portrayed innocence, naivity, and immaturity. i don’t mean that negatively, just that she’s 15/16 and that’s how kids are.

the blood, other than the conventional symbolism of danger, death, etc. shows the cold slap of reality that is hero society and the unrealistic expectations it has.

this is what ochako is overhearing, what puts that ^ expression on her face. the hero here is just admitting that, similarly to ochako, he views being a hero as a job. of course the main point of a job is money typically, as you need it to survive. both of these characters, ochako and the hero here, have at least one thing in common: that they both view heroics as just a job. ochako is seeing someone with similar motivations give up.

from the beginning of the series we’ve seen ochako feel insecure about her motivations, and while they’ve developed (and she’s developed to be more selfless) as her family and financial in/security are such core parts of her character and backstory, i think it’ll always be in there somewhere.

otherwise in this scene, buildings are falling around her. i’d say this mirrors the way ochako’s expectations and ideas about heroes begin to fall. i think it clicks in her brain how unrealistically high society’s expectations for heroes are: no one will be self-sacrificial all of the time and all might’s model hero image he perfected is not only unhealthy but also unrealistic/unattainable. I think ochako realises here that the heroes here (and elsewhere) are giving it their all and pushing themselves to the limits, but it’s not enough.

Unpopular opinion: people get too invested in relationships that aren't real. Which is especially insane in this particular fandom because comics are in a unique position in which every headcanon can be legitimate due to the multiverse. People need to stop hating on people with different ships than them, Dick can be with Babs on Earth-4782 and Kory on Earth-3694, Jon can be with Damian on Earth-583 and Tim on Earth-296, the possibilities are endless!

in a way, yknow, i get it

i draw hard lines regarding some ships and i draw even harder lines regarding some dynamics, like hahah cool i love angst and whatever but lets not ever justify toxic or harmful relationships (theres a difference between exploring a dynamic and treating it as good)

and im also annoying and hate some ships cause its my given right but that being said i do find ship wars insane

some of u may know i was in the bnha fandom before this one and i had a chill time but ive seen actual threats on twt from guys who liked the green guy better than the red guy for the explosion guy and vice versa, and thats insane

i havent had terrible issues here but i do know the dick ship wars are raging on insta and god forgive talking about tim

in the end, im not comfortable with some ships, never will be, but some ship wars are between actually canon ships and thats wild

Spoilers for chapter 296! How does Fortune react to…that hero’s death? (Trying to stay vague lol)

That death won't happen in the TABF series since it diverges from canon during that arc.

That's because everything is different with Nighteye being alive and the LoV not getting their hands on the Quirk-erasing bullets because those were recovered by Nighteye after he subdued Overhaul who had made that last ditch effort to attack Aizawa while everyone was distracted by Fortune losing consciousness and having a seizure.

While there are still casualties during that arc, none of them are of people who Fortune are close to.

If you’re looking for more details, I suggest looking back on past HC posts I made and look at the bnha spoilers tag since I have addressed this topic in the past.
