Can we talk about Twice??

Can you imagine the immense guilt and pain he must be feeling? This is the second time now that he has brought a new recruit to the league only for them to turn out to not have the league’s best interests at heart.

It probably took a lot of courage to trust Hawks after Overhaul but Twice trusted him anyways because he genuinely thought of Hawks as a friend.

I’ve personally always liked Twice because he genuinely seems to care about his teammates but after the incident with his clones, Magne’s death, and now this. Will he be the same? I think he’s beginning to lose faith in people and that in later chapters he’ll deal with severe trust issues.

Edit: OR HE’LL JUST DIE??? I GUESS??

The heroes have them surrounded.

Looks like we have another earthbender here folks.

The people are warning Re-destro about how royally fucked they are and he's still got this happy look on his face as his world crumbles all around him.

Lol Re-destro is not having a good time.

Is that Denki screaming in the background?

Lol Denki you're doing great sweety. I'd appreciate it if Lightningbolt could not shock the life put of Pikachu thank you very much.

Oh never mind Edge Shot to the rescue. "I just punctured a hole in one of your lungs so try not to move around to much." says Edge Shot as impales 20 or so villains at the same time while Midnight puts them all to sleep with her quirk.

It looks like Midnight is using her whips to spread her quirk (the name of which I'm to lazy to look up). Are the whips actually fans? The sound effects says brush tho. Is she brushing her quirk at them?

Hey wait. Isn't this that 1B kids quirk? The one with the exposed teeth. I can't remember his name.

His name is Honenuku (thank you Horikoshi for the gentle reminder) and it is, in fact, his quirk. And Komori coming in with the throat mushrooms to make sure they don't fight their way out. You go guys.

Gang Orca is complementing the kids on a job well done while he and a bunch of other heroes charge what's left of the Mansion.

We then cut to Hawks who is presumably talking to Twice about how unbelievably difficult it was to get the information to the pros. He had to make a cypher an everything. He goes on to explain that since the enemies numbers were growing and with how dangerous Twice's quirk is he couldn't afford to wait any longer, and that basically the only reason he hung out with Twice so much is because he wanted to keep an eye on him at all times. Hawks' codename should be The Heart Breaker instead.

I think the super creepy looking eyes on Hawks is supposed represent what Twice is seeing right now. Speaking of Twice, he looks so betrayed. And he's thinking about what happened with Overhaul. Oh no Twice. I actually feel really bad for him cause he genuinely trusted Hawks.

Twice says he shouldn't have trusted Hawks to which Hawks replies "Yeah thanks for that by the way" like damn Hawks he gets it. He fucked up. You don't have to twist the knife too.

Hawks says he'll help Twice get back on his feet when this is all over and that he thinks Twice is a good person.

Twice is not taking this well at all. He's not buying the hole "I'll help you start over" bit and honestly, I don't blame him. He's a criminal. There's no way he's not going to prison, I don't care how many "friends" Hawks has in the commission. Anyway Twice is so distraught by this betrayal that he does the anime thing where the characters take off their mask to show how emotional they are, except in this case it was ripped in half.

Hawks said he doesnt want to fight Twice and Twice, the amazing being of destruction he is, responds with "That sounds like a you problem" his exact words and i cannot stop laughing as a result.

All his clones are crying. It really is a sad man's parade. Hawks do you see what you did? Are happy with yourself now? Btw, I'm not a psychiatrist or anything but I'm pretty sure that's an incredibly unhealthy way of thinking.

What do you mean "To be continued" where is the normal ending card with Izuku's dorky face.

I'm going to assume that's Hawks narrating there. He thinks heroes are scum? So he does feel bad about betraying him. Or does he mean Heroes in general. Is that panel of him a flashback? It looks like one but a flashback of when?

And who the hell is Dabi about to kill? Is he on his way to help Twice? Is the Twice screaming in the background?

Will any of my questions be answered next chapter? Guess we'll find out soon, huh?

Me softly, but with much belief: what if, Dabi never truly trusted Hawks to begin with ? And he saw all of this coming, but he just waited for the right time to strike ?

SO. IM DEAD.

Let me elaborate: I live for the theory that Hawks hates what he does and sees the good in the league, and that when it came time for him to fight them he would be torn over what he wants to do and what he should do. And based on this chapter, this may just be true.

He looks like he’s just given up hope, that he now has no other option other than to fight because that’s how he was raised. And he even calls himself and what he’s being forced to do “scum” and realizes that everything is just wrong.

So okay, huge chance that Hawks may switch sides.

However, there is more:

Here comes Dabi to the rescue; The character that has the most mysterious backstory and has been hinted at being Touya Todoroki. Now here he comes to most likely have his first real battle with Hawks, a character we also know to have a screwed up childhood like Touya’s childhood is assumed to be. Again, I may be pulling at tiny strings here, but I’m hoping, hoping, for a Touya Todoroki reveal within the next few chapters.

If it’s true that Dabi=Touya, then having him face off with another child experiment will surely bring some things to light.

But that's just a theory, a crack theory. See you Saturday.

SPOILERS FOR BNHA CHAPTER 264!!

Okay that whole dialogue between Hawks and Twice left me breathless. I was hooked even with my sub-par Japanese skills and having to tab between the leaks and jisho. Twice sobbing and saying he trusted Hawks? Hawks telling Twice he’s a good person and he’ll help him get better? Twice calling himself pathetic? G O L D.

That whole scene was the highlight of the chapter. I didn’t even bother trying to read the rest besides a cursory skim through.

I know that some people think that Dabi looks excited at the end, but I think he looks furious to the point of being unhinged. Like when someone is so angry that they smile and laugh.

Fun fact for those who don’t read Japanese: in the final panel Dabi says “Twice, you’re not bad. The bad ones are all of the heroes.” EXCEPT “heroes” is written as something along the lines of “scumbags” with “hero” over it in furigana, lol. I wish there was an equivalent to that device in English.
