ONE - the character everyone gets wrong - ohhh buddy. So like. A lot of them, but honestly it's kinda crazy cause he's the MC but I think a lot of ppl are just allergic to Deku's canon personality. Thinking about the sassy/snarky/bamf/whatever-the-fuck Midoriya Izuku tags like can we be so fr for a second. This is the guy who almost lost his internship due to being so chronically unfunny that his boss hated him (theres nuance but it's whatevs). Also the crazy Analyst Deku takes abt him like those super popular fics where he's this hyperintelligent teenager n all that like he's smart for sure and he's got an eye for quirks but that's just the autism talking, yknow? Also a lot of mischaracterization happens where Bakugou is involved bc ppl can't see it any other way than Deku being The Victim and Bakugou being The Monster. Like sorry they didn't expel Kacchan in season 1 like you wanted them to sorry you hate interesting dynamics and character growth and messy relationships. Like ⅓ of the top 20 fics on ao3 are BNHA and I wouldn't touch any of them w a ten foot poll

TEN - worst part of fanon - uhm well I think I did go over that pretty well but a different part is that a lot of Hawks/LOV takes annoy me. I was a Hawks joins the LOV truther but I didn't think it was bc it'd somehow be better for him it was cause I wanted them to make him 100 times worse!! I'd've loved to see my babygirl spiral in a desperate attempt for control and revenge and freedom and I wanted it to end horribly for him bc sometimes you just wanna see chars put through salad spinners. But the fanon thing is often them being his super supportive found family who all stop killing people bc it made him feel bad and then they lived happily ever after lol

TWENTY-ONE - part of canon you think is overhyped - dadzawa. In that it's barely canon at all HASHTAG DADMIGHT 5EVER but no it's something that's like great in its canon basis but gets exaggerated into something that well. I don't like as much! Bc I can relate to the protective teacher that loves his students intensely but keeps a professional boundary, I have a teacher just like that and we love her to pieces, but that mf is not a father to them 💀

There is one thing that caught my attention from the previous ask and it is "if he's a fan favorite there must be a good reason", but it isn't completely true. If we analyze the bnha characters, the villains Tomura, Dabi, Twice should be favorites in popularity polls because they're well written, characters like All Might and even Endeavor should be much higher in the polls because they're well written. But if you look at the polls there are characters like Present Mic, Shinso, Aizawa, Kirishima, etc who are not right or wrong but who don't represent anything in the story or who don't have a useful arc and are still in the top ten. Popularity polls don't represent well developed or even good characters, just popular ones and also I have to be honest and admit that BNHA isn't that popular and has lost public so we can't compare the number of votes bnha characters receive as per example Jujtsu Kaisen where in the popularity polls the votes double those received in the bnha polls.

All of this is true. Popularity doesn’t always equal quality. Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey were popular but they’re also subpar stories that got popular because they attracted a large audience of a specific crowd. Sword Art Online was popular but many consider it to be a bad anime. I’m not saying that everything that is popular is bad cause that’s not true at all, but sometimes something’s popular for a reason other than it’s quality of writing. Just look at MHA. It’s filled with flawed writing and yet the action scenes and some of the characters is what’s launched it into the popularity it’s experienced. It’s a fun series, but just like how popularity doesn’t always dictate how good a series is, fun doesn’t always do so either.

I feel like I should clarify something: I am anti Bakudeku, but it isn't because I dislike Bakugo. Quite the opposite. His character development over the course of the anime is brilliant and very fantastically executed, and I think that Bakugo as a character is extremely compelling and enjoyable, and I am invested in seeing his relationship with Izuku improve over time.

But! That does not erase the years of harassment and abuse that Bakugo made Izuku suffer through during their childhood, especially as Bakugo never once apologizes to Izuku for what he did, nor does he give any inclination that he feels any kind of guilt or remorse over what he did, and that is not a healthy dynamic for any kind of relationship, let alone a romantic one.

And it's not like I don't think Bakugo is allowed to redeem himself and grow to be a better person, but I feel like that kind of thing should happen separately from the people he abused. Think about it! Pretty much everyone was bullied as a kid, and there's a fairly good chance that the person who bullied you is growing up to be a better person, but would you care? Absolutely the fuck not! Because they hurt you and made your life hell, and if you heard that the person who bullied you all of a sudden wanted to get in contact with you again, there is probably an 80% chance that you would say no.

This is exactly the reason why I loathe Bakudeku as a ship, love Bakugo as a character, and why I ship Kiribaku, because with Kirishima, Bakugo IS a much better person than he was with Izuku, and I think part of the reason why that is is because Bakugo actually LIKES Kirishima. Even after everything they've gone through and all the development they've had, I still don't get the sense that Bakugo actually likes Izuku. He tolerates him, sure, and there's a case to be made that he even admires him, but a genuine compassion for him there is not.

Though, keep in mind that I am only caught up to date with season 5 of the anime and waiting on season 6, so any character development that Bakugo has in the manga is completely unknown to me, and I would prefer to keep it that way until I can see it for myself in the anime.

And I say all of this because Bakudeku is the most popular ship in My Hero Academia, especially on AO3, when it really shouldn't be.

Is Hooty's design a reference to the biological structure of owl eyes?

So, to start off, a lot of people don't know that owls have tube-shaped eyes.

Most things in the animal kingdom have spherical eyes, so their eyeballs can move around in their eye sockets, but owl eyes are shaped more like tubes instead of spheres, and because of this, owl's eyes are fixed in place in their skulls, which is why owls are able to rotate their heads 180 degrees. Because their eyes don't move, they adapted by being able to turn their heads to a much greater degree than any other animal, especially other birds.

Okay, those "which one is my favorite..." polls are fun.

It's hilarious most people will pick the "most popular" character for their answer.

Why? Fact about me that I probably havent mentioned before. When it comes to BNHA, most of my top favorites are the minor/less popular characters.

In fact, Midoriya is the only "really popular" character that makes it in my top five. My top ten changes from time to time because I like so many characters, but stuck in the #1 is Miruko and Midoriya.

BnHA Chapter 254: Who the Hell Is Bucky

Previously on BnHA: All Might welcomed 1-A back after the new year with a pun he’s probably been working on for the entire winter break, the poor man. Aizawa received a call :’) and drove down to Tartarus with Mic to meet up with Naomasa and Gran Torino. Nao and Gran were all “so you’ll NEVER GUESS, but we found out that Kurogiri’s quirk is apparently a FAKE QUIRK which was created from a bunch of other quirks -- AND GUESS WHICH ONE WAS THE ORIGINAL QUIRK?” and Aizawa was all (ಠ ∩ಠ), and Mic put a hand on his shoulder, and Nao was all “YEAH YOU DID GUESS, IT’S YOUR OLD DEAD PAL SHIRAKUMO, FROM CHAPTERS 59 THROUGH 65 OF VIGILANTES!” And okay, so (1) OH MY GOD, and (2) I originally thought this meant that Kurogiri is straight up a zombie!Shirakumo, but others pointed out that he might be some random other dude who just has Kumo’s quirk, among others. And like, okay. SO WHAT IS THE TRUTH.

Today on BnHA: Y’ALL HE REALLY IS A ZOMBIE!KUMO, AND NAOMASA AND GRAN BROUGHT AIZAWA AND MIC TO TALK TO HIM AND TRY TO RESTORE HIS MEMORIES SOMEHOW. Aizawa is all “this isn’t some fantasy world with happy endings, this is THE REAL WORLD WHERE MIRACLES DON’T HAPPEN!” but Gran is all “sometimes they do!” and Aizawa is like “!!” and so they sit down to chat with Kumo. Aizawa launches into a passionate speech about how great Kumo was and how he pulled him along and inspired him, and how he (Aizawa) is strict with his students now and -- get this -- FAKE-EXPELS THEM IN ORDER TO PUT THE FEAR OF GOD INTO THEM JUST ONCE LMAO, BUT IT’S BECAUSE HE CARES, and because he wants them to be great heroes and not hapless redshirts who get killed offscreen. And by the end of it he’s crying and imploring Shirakumo -- “if you’re still in there somewhere” -- to become heroes with him and Mic just like they always wanted. All of it is exactly as emotionally devastating as you would figure, btw.

you guys I have been playing hopscotch on my dash since yesterday trying to avoid spoilers about the popularity poll until I actually had time to write down my reactions! all I know is that of course Bakugou is #1 again, because this fandom always comes through lol. my other predictions are that the rest of the trio will receive lots of love again as well, and Hawks will once again be high on the list, and Aizawa too because of the Vigilantes flashbacks (at least HE BETTER), and probably the villains will get a big boost as well after their arc, Tomura in particular. and Endeavor might break the top 10 again too with the newest arc, although I can’t quite remember whether or not the poll was still going on by the time that started (ETA: actually I don’t think it was). but yeah. anyway so there’s a real possibility that most of the kids will actually be shut out of the top ranks because of these GROWN-UPS and VILLAINS stealing all their glory, smh. your time will come, kids

I can speak from experience about Naruto where characters like Kakashi, Sasuke and Naruto always oscillated between the first three places of popularity, Kakashi if I'm not mistaken was the one who kept the first place more times and Sasuke and Naruto too. I think that bnha is a manga that presents certain anomalies in the ways that many female sectors hate characters like Uraraka or others because they aren't well developed or only focus on the lie that she is only the love interest without any other personality attribute (which is a lie but this fandom lives by repeating lies until they believe them) another point to consider would be that bnha isn't a popular manga, it does sell and the franchise has been exploited but let's compare it with other manga like Kimetsu no yaiba , AOT, Spy x family, jujutsu Kaisen and many other manga and anime that are breaking it in sales and popularity bnha hopefully it remains in a top sales that does not reach the top ten and many fans of the anime and manga have migrated to others , practically leaving a residual base of readers and consumers because the quality of the manga leaves much to be desired that a character like Bakugou is the most loved when at the plot level you have characters with as Toshinori, Tomura or certain villains and heroes who surpass Bakugou in terms of narrative weight and writing, it shows that the fandom itself and its followers are mostly young audiences or that it's obsessed only by the ships that the story in general. I mean bnha is the type of manga that exists for now but I don't think it will last over time like Naruto, FMA, HxH and other more memorable ones.

Agree with all of this. While MHA is certainly popular now, I don’t think it has the weight of other anime/manga. It probably will be remembered as something once popular but I don’t think it’ll be a cultural icon like Naruto or Dragon Ball.

i have watched many anime in my life because i didn't have any friends growing up and was on the internet for a long while b4 was normal so my list is a very very random fucking assortment of an me. my top ten is a mess but these r reccs where im like. if u think anime is lame.. Watch These

also this list won't include anime like hq, bnha, kny, aot, jjk, any of the big three or rlly anything that came out more recently i dont think since you probably already have seen those animes b4

ALSOO i didn't think it fit here but another anime i love is silver spoon - its a farming anime with a rag-tag group of characters and it's near and dear to me. my favorite slice of life ever.

tldr ;; if you don't wanna go through the list, number 3, 8, 9, and 10 are the must watches imo.

ARI'S ANIME RECCOMENDATIONS!

PLEASE PROCEED W CAUTION AND LOOK UP WARNINGS - a lot of these are super dark!!

1. baccano - a fast-paced non-linear mafia anime that follows the storylines of several interesting and charismatic characters in the prohibition era in the states. has elements of surrealism and gets pretty violent albeit it's a little slapstick. i think this anime is fucking fantastic. think the story-telling is brilliant and interesting.

2. zankyou no terror - a psychological anime about two japanese teenagers responsible for a giant terror attack using a robot named sphinx. despite the title and the intial episodes - zankyou no terror is not an anime about terrorism but about politics and reflections. its really great but i can't tell you much about it without spoiling it.

3. inuyashiki - this anime is a fucking mess and it is incredibly dark. the same death note air but with a lot more sarcasm and black humor slash comedy. the gist is that two men encounter robotic powers. while the older of the two mcs finds that being responsible and heroic is important despite his pathetic life - the younger more apathetic one immediately starts fucking killing people. 😭. home to the iconic "do you watch one piece scene."

4. psycho pass - one of the first animes i ever watched and im genuinely really elated that ppl are watching it. about a society where everyone's thoughts and feelings are carefully monitored and how that reflects onto their careers and lives in general. very dark and has a lot of content warnings, but it's great.

5. durarara - this is a very biased opinion but i think this is one of the best animes ive ever watched. i couldn't pin why. i think the cast of characters is absolutely stunning but i also enjoyed it a lot conceptually. it's a gang anime with supernatural elements but it's honestly hard to explain other than that. still so fucking good though.

6. say 'i love you' - this is a random one i know. but it's a romance anime between a subdued highschool girl and a popular highschool guy. seems very generic but the characters and world-building are real and raw and every single person has a story. from a writers perspective it's brilliant and yamato was a childhood crush for me. there's a lot of discussion with one character about eating disorders as an fyi but god. god. we deserved another season but the manga is good too.

6a. honorable mention on great romance anime is maid-sama. don't let the cover fool you - our main lead is a badass but she works at a maid-cafe. one of her classmates happens to catch her. very sincere romance that i highly reccomnd.

7. cowboy bebop - this anime is literally a classic, so i don't feel like i have to tell you to watch it. probably one of the greatest animes that will ever exist. space cowboys kickin' ass and a goddamn fucking banger if i've ever seen it. of everything here - a must watch.

7a. honorable mention - gintama. one of the funniest animes ive ever seen but it's hella long. hijikata is goddamn funny though.

8. samurai champloo - this is . ONE if not THEE best fucking animes you'll ever fucking watch. this anime is witty, charming, historical - with an iconic cast of characters and some of the most funny and wholesome interactions you'll ever witness. mugen is cynical and badass and his dialogue and swords skill will keep you engaged no matter what. essentially two samurai and a waitress end up being fugitives in edo-period japan and it's just so fucking fantastic. please watch it.

8a. honorable mention - afro samurai. similar samurai concept with the coolest mc you've ever met. more shounen-y if that's your thing.

9. mushi-shi - this anime changed my life. no joke. this anime is probably my number one influence on me as a person and as a writer. it is slow-paced and episodic and it follows the story of a man named ginko. mushi are the main element in the world, they are small creatures that can't be seen to everyone. this is one of the best animes ever imo. it's not for everyone but if you like something a little more subdued and sentimental - please check it out.

10. steins gate - this anime is probably one of the only animes that people universally agree on being a must watch. follows the story of a mad scientist and talks about subjects of time travel and a secret society. the execution of the tropes in the show are done flawlessly. objectively one of the best on the list. very.. melancholy? psychological? but so fucking good. a good watch if you liked death note or psycho pass.

THIS WAS SOOO hard to write. im sure no one cares but this list is very near and dear to my heart with anime i think is fucking incredible. if you give even one of these a watch - please talk to me about it!!! i have so many more even w/o the honorable mentions but yes... Yes.

can i aka how people can propery tag their headcannons. I just want to do it right but like lets says its multiple characters should we not put character x reader or yes? Like how can we tag it properly!

I think first and foremost you need to ask yourself why am I posting this? If it’s because it’s actual content you think others will enjoy then I would say please tag, if it’s for attention and brings no value to the tags, use your own tags.

For example, a post with “I want to ride Bakugou’s perky nipples” does not need to be tagged with:

Is it smut? No. Does it belong in these tags? No.

Do I also want to ride Bakugou’s perky nipples? Yes.

So what tag would I use for this? My own personal tag (mine is #jo talks, but obviously yours may be different), potentially #bakugou thirst but honestly you’re on thin fucking ice if you do this… but at least you’re not saturating the x reader/smut tags and making it difficult to find actual fanfiction.

Also the fact that the tags #bnha #mha #bakugo and #katsuki will mean this appears in the main fandom tags, not just fanfiction tags. So you’re potentially bringing a slew of antis/minors/DNI criteria to your blog.

The other posts that people generally make with multiple characters are this style of post:

There is absolutely no reason why this post would need more than 3/4 main tags if you really wanted it in the main tags. But people will make these posts to deliberately tag them with every single character individually.

Now. If you wanted to make the same post as above but include why they enjoy drinking their cum from a sippy cup or straight from the source, I’d say tag it x reader or multiple characters because at least then you’re bringing some value to the tags. You’re providing content that people can actually read and enjoy, not just shoving names in a line because you want to make it into as many tags as possible (or cross tag fandoms to reach more people).

There is actual content here. This is when it would be acceptable to tag multiple characters, but only the characters that appear in the post.

Yes, it is annoying that more people would see your random thoughts and interact with you and we don’t like it when our posts don’t get attention. But the bigger picture is when you do this you’re effectively blocking people who spend hours and sometimes days/weeks from appearing near the top of the tags.

Also. If your post is just:

This does not belong in main tags, you’re literally hindering writers when you do this. Imagine if someone scrolled past a fic you’d poured your heart and soul into because they were trying to skim quickly, or your fic got buried under tens of posts like this? Or people have stopped going through the tags because of posts like this… Because that’s genuinely what the character tags are like right now.

Tumblr tags are already flawed, and when you abuse them like this you’re just making it worse. Their search system is nowhere near as comprehensive as a site like ao3 or even Lunaescence. It’s so much harder to find fanfics on this site and after speaking to friends a lot of them no longer use the main tag search because of the people that abuse it.

Please think about what you’re tagging before you tag it, it’s not a cute quick way to get popular, it’s a nuisance for authors who crave those great comments/reblogs on their hard work.
