Dabi was a furnace, that’s just a fact.

So, most of the time Dani didn’t realize when the weather was getting colder.

And because of that Dabi’s apartment was colder than most people would like it.

When you moved to his place full time you reminded him of the freezing temperature and no matter how much he said that he would fix it..., it never happened.

You were forced to sleep with two extra blankets when the nights got colder.

Dabi would tease you about your cold, but really every time he just forgot about your request.

You were tired to a completely new level.

School had gotten a lot more demanding, and you were exhausted when you climbed the stairs to the apartment that you shared with the villain.

You didn’t bother to get to your room before collapsing to the couch.

For a minute you were happy while falling asleep only to get a cold shiver up your spine.

That piece of a shit roommate... You thought and reached for a blanket with your hand.

You found your blanket pulling it over your body and falling asleep.

Dabi came back home maybe ten minutes after you.

He had gone to the store to pick up some food (for once in his life).

Dabi got inside without seeing you being curled up on the couch.

It took him a good half an hour until he realized that you hadn’t let out a single sound of your presence.

For a second Dabi was worried that something had happened only to find you on the couch, using his jacket as a blanket.

His first reaction was to pull it off of you just for annoying you, but the second reaction was that you looked so peaceful.

There was no need to bother your nap..., even if you stole his jacket.

You woke up when the sky had already gotten dark.

The smell of dinner forced the sleep out of you. You pushed yourself up, only to see the jacket was still on you and Dabi was in the kitchen cooking.

You put the jacket on not wanting to let the warmth out.

Neither one of you said anything about the jacket and your nap, while eating the little too salty dinner that Dabi had made for you.

Little Things in a Relationship with Dabi

A/N: for this headcannon, i'm gonna try to leave as much wiggle room for creativity as i can. meaning, if you have an OC with a very specific quirk and backstory, I'll leave it to you to fill it in as you read! i know a lot of fanfics sour that when they give the reader or y/n their own story or quirk so I'll be vague. this is also gonna be gender neutral for all to enjoy! Does contain manga spoilers though!!!

Warnings: jealously, slight possessiveness, violence? as much as MHA violence goes

Dabi is unlike any man you have ever met in your life. From his background to his personality. He's a bit snarky and cold, but once he clinged onto you, he turned into a different man.

You met him when he was trying to recruit people for the League's sake. Despite being the one who introduced you, he wasn't too fond of you. He kept his distance, wouldn't talk to you, huffed and puffed in your presence, and was just relatively a nuisance to you.

Something changed, you weren't sure what clicked but it did. He talked to you. And he wasn't mean, he wasn't cold, he wasn't snarky, or sarcastic. He was normal. From there it spiraled on into what you two now considered a relationship.

Dabi wasn't one for grand romantic gestures. He never asked you to be his significant other but the bond shared between you two couldn't be described as anything BUT a romantic relationship.

This included small things. Very small things that meant a lot to you. He didn't show it, but you could feel his appreciation through the unspoken bond. It was like you two were intertwined by the soul. His feelings were your feelings.

Spending quiet nights outside, looking at the stars was one. The first night it happened, you were looking to spend some alone time, but stumbled upon him. He was laying on the concrete. He didn't seem to notice you at all, so you assumed he was caught up in his own thoughts. So you were surprised when he stopped you from leaving, telling you to stay. This became a regular thing. Laying down next to him, watching the stars as you sat in silence.

It was peaceful and liberating. No thoughts, words, nothing came to mind. It was completely tranquil. Only once did Dabi speak, "This is what I imagine it feels like once it's all over." You asked him what he meant but he only responded in an ominous chuckle. That could mean many things. The end of hero society or the end of his life? Whatever it meant, it was obvious he planned to keep it from you.

He would subtly give you affection. If you were sitting on the couch, he would sit next to you and put his arms over the back. His arm would just happen to reach behind you. If anyone ever questioned it, he'd roll his eyes or deny it. But you knew, and it made you blush slightly.

Despite never establishing the relationship, Dabi would get really jealous. Like really jealous. If anyone tried to flirt or get your attention, he got annoyed and was very vocal about it. This caused some teasing from the others that he usually brushed off with a, "Whatever," as he walked off.

Dabi is also protective of you, unlike the others. He knows they could hold their own, he knows you can too. But the thought of anything ever happening to you, the thought you ever leaving made him crumble inside. He didn't expect to open up to you, much less ever again after what happened to his family. So losing you was not ideal. They can live without me, but I can't live without them. That's what he thought about.

Once he revealed who he was to the world, he spent a lot of time alone, but you knew he probably needed some support. You gave him time but eventually he came back around, inviting you to sit in silence with him. He opened up a bit about what his childhood was like for him, how he became Dabi, and what he plans on next. Hearing everything made you feel sad for him inside. This was a new side of Dabi, this was Toya being vulnerable with you and you weren't gonna break that trust.

Dabi trusted you with everything. You knew things about him that the League didn't, that even the Todoroki family didn't know. He would sometimes ramble on about it in the middle of silence. Then say, "Whatever, it doesn't matter anyways."

He'd make up excuses to touch you whenever he could. If you were walking up a mountain, he'd gently push you up by putting his hand on your back. He'd jump in front and pull you up, holding your hand for a little longer as he tried to savor the sensation before it became "weird" to the others. If you got hurt, he'd walk over and offer to take care of you. Once Spinner ran to your aid and Dabi pushed him, jealous seeing him touch you, touching his most prized possession.

He would fantasize about a future with you, telling you all the goals he'd have. He would tell you how having a partner with the same ideals as him was nice for a change. You both shared a strong desire to bring down hero society, especially Endeavor. "Let's make a brighter future, together," he'd say with flames in his hands.

You tended to his stitches a lot. Scolding him if he went too far. He always reassured you that he's fine and he can handle it, but his body always said differently.

Nobody knew what to call the relationship, but it was clear there was mutual love. It was a relationship, even if nobody labeled it as such. But that was the most beautiful of relationships because there were no ridiculous expectations, just pure love.

Tufts of black hair under your chin as Dabi nuzzles in closer to your chest. Long, aching arms loosely wrapped around your waist as he rests his eyes for a minute.

I’m literally going to commiserate over the fact that we are mostly likely never going to see more of Touya’s backstory 😭 and when I say more of his backstory, I mean how did he survive on the streets? What did he do after he saw that scene and left the family home?

Because during his introduction to the League, Giran said he had not committed any flashy crimes. So obviously, the murders happened after he joined the league, but he had to of done something to survive or had help?! I’m not going to believe a what fresh out of a coma 16yr old is going to be able to survive on the streets without some kind of help, or at least having committed some kind of petty crimes such as theft?! Plus he had to of dyed his hair somehow! Like we know he was watching his father, and from his first showdown with Shouto he was also watching him and just like I need to know! I need to know the in betweens from the child abuse/neglect to the fire to the before the league, like I need to know but I don’t think I will 😭!

Plus a few peeps did show me some of the character profiles he has done for Touya(I actually can’t remember what they looked like 😅), but I want a final one like with his favourite foods and if he has a hobby or something that he likes such as daydreaming or stargazing?! Who knows! I feel like we won’t get that either though, so once again I commiserate!

May I request a small thing about maybe teen reader getting stabbed while on a mission with the lov and the lov don’t know what to do so they basically kept them hidden from dabi and he eventually gets mad and just breaks the door down asking “where the fuck are they”? Stabbing might have been an overreaction. It was barely a wound.

Or that’s what you tried to tell the frantic league around you.

It was really a stupid mistake that you had gotten stabbed to your side and no matter how much you tried to claim that you were fine.

Of course, you had been lying to them, it hurt like hell and if they weren’t so panicky you might have been just as scared as them.

Twice tried to stitch and cover the wound while you cursed like a sailor and squeezed Toga’s hand until she was whining even more than you.

At some point, you passed out due to tiredness or the pain you couldn’t tell which it truly was.

Waking up from a stab wound was everything else than pleasant.

Your whole body was stiff from the uneasy sleep and the uncomfortable couch you were still laying on.

The night had been restless because someone was waking you up every hour just to make sure that you were still alive, even if the bleeding had stopped a while ago.

But even your peaceful time alone was disturbed by fighting outside the thin front door.

You could hear the voices of your friends and let a little smile grow on your lips. It was good to hear them being back to normal after the frantic night.

“Where the fuck are they!? What happened?! What’s wrong!!” Dabi yelled over the others not caring about their explanations of your state.

It took three pushes and a little bit of strength until the door was off of its hinges and Dabi’s eyes glued to you.

Dabi had become good at hiding his emotions and the pain but still you could see the distraught pain in his eyes.

The flame user walked calmly next to the couch and took your hand to his.

You knew that any affection from Dabi was a big deal, so you squeezed his hand back and gave him a small smile trying to comfort him.

“I’m okay, it’s just a scratch anyway...”
