Halsin promised this poor chap a mate, then got himself selfishly kidnapped by Goblins. Even into act three, you can find him at the Grove, horny out of his mind, maidenless. He hath no bosom companion.

A fun fact about hyraxes is that their closest living relatives are elephants and manatees! It’s kind of hard to believe just by looking at them since they’re so small… until you get close enough to see their teeth, that is:

#design subject to change but not for much longer because im almost at the point where i have to make him appear in the comic lol #asks #loz: sword of fate #also he's just ganon in sof not ganondorf! dorf as a suffix is. well it's used for villages in german according to my very brief research #but yknow japanese writers i will cut them some slack. anyway since he's the first ganon i thought removing the suffix would be appropriate #like it was added onto the name in later generations or something. you get what im saying. this makes sense #anyway design things i want to point out. the mask gets flipped after link cuts it open during a miniboss fight which serves as the first #reveal that ganon is like. his age. a kid. + by the time link sees him next he's put it back together upside down. #the flipped shiekah eye is a symbol in itself obv but the 3 dots r also supposed to sort of evoke the triforce when it gets flipped #hence why the one on top (power) is white while the others are fully filled in! #and the horns when flipped are supposed to resemble boar tusks a bit irt later incarnations lol #color symbolism in his design also--as the story goes on he becomes more generally desaturated and the hair turns bright red which becomes #his dominating color. one of the first things to go as he begins to spiral are the blue elements of his outfit bc he's losing wisdom! #anyway. i put too much thought into this LMAO <3 #skribbles

fun fact that bc of one of their claws being Obnoxiously Fucking Huge, male fiddler crabs literally can't eat with it. Which means they spend like twice as much time eating as females, since females can shovel food into their mouth with both claws but males can only do it with one

This relates to the concept of "honest/costly signaling" in ecology, which contains the idea that traits that attract mates can be an accurate display of an individual's fitness/capability due to said trait actually having disadvantages (ex. long attractive tails in some birds making moving more difficult, large claws making it harder to eat, being brightly colored making you more visible to predators, etc). The idea being that if certain attractive traits are actually disadvantageous, then an organism thriving and being overall healthy despite said traits is evidence that said organism is Good At Surviving, and therefore a good potential mate.

So while bigger claws do have the benefit of giving a male fiddler crab an edge in fights with other males, which play a big role in female mate choice, a male being healthy while having his bigass claw in the first place also serves as indirect proof that he's good at successfully obtaining enough food to survive

but like. look at this dude. he can't eat with that thing. he's got one functional food shovel bc the women think him having a one-purpose bigass muscle arm is Good Baby Material. and they're not even technically wrong

Freyr's Crest in Alfheim

This is just a little something I noticed while playing GoW:R the second time.

So we are all familiar with our boi Freyr and the boar tusk crest that he wears.

And here it is in stone too.

I noticed while playing the game that this same symbol shows up several times in Alfheim.

You see several of the elves wear what appear to be versions of Freyr's crest.

Not only that, but the top of the Temple of Light, where the light comes out the top, looks like an inverted version of the symbol too.

I just love the thought that the elves were so taken with Freyr, that they tried to emulate him through a symbol that he was known for.

The elves really are Freyr's biggest simps.

Angeltober 2023 Day 15 - Wine

finding the right animal was not as hard as i first thought, due to internships at buchers and my love for ghibli movies (in this case I am referencing Mononoke) I choose a wild boar for this piece. With some specie's Tusks growign to the point of death It was fitting to show the boars blood as the Wine that is also spilled here. Being trapped in a wine cellar with no possibel way of wearing down its tusks they kept growing to the point of killing it.. Also with it being Angeltober the theme of blood being wine was just too perfect, since Jeses himself tells his followers to "drink this wine for it is my blood" in christian believes as well, which a friend made me aware of since I don't focus too much on these kinds of believes since I am more interested in just the angelology :3 -dairiem
