I remembered I have some interesting photos on my gallery since 2021
THE SUNSET CURVE DEMO
I found the photos randomly on a site
What was interesting to me was the description on the demo. They met at high school (apparently they didn’t study at Los Feliz) and formed the band while being students (which was obvious)
It’s such a same we never heard Late Last Night, Lakeside Reflection and In Your Starlight
In the Orpheum, Sunset Curve introduces themselves in this order: Luke, Reggie, Alex, Bobby.
They do the same when they meet Julie. Luke, Reggie. Alex.
I wonder if that's why Luke was quiet for a brief moment, before he 'tadas'. Because he's waiting for Bobby to pipe in.
Maybe that's why he so awkwardly 'tadas'. Because he's never had to think about how to fill up the space that's never been empty before.
I know that later on Reggie says that he completely forgot about Bobby, but maybe Luke had been remembering him ever since the three of them came back.
somewhere 1994 L.A. after a Sunset Curve rehearsal, Sunset Curve members are discussing plans for the night and Alex says he's thinking abt doing some clubbing bc he wants to take out the week's stress on the dance floor and they boys think it's a cool idea bc they might also get girls and Alex goes "yeah. That's not in my plans." So Luke goes:
Luke: let's hit a gay club, then!
Alex: a gay club? You wanna go to a gay club?
Luke: we gonna hang out all together!!
Reggie: yeah, we could even be your wingmen.
Alex: you know there won't be any girls interested in you, right?
Bobby: Cool, it's guys night then.
Alex: are you all serious?
Luke: are you ashamed of us or something? Let's just go already!!
So they do get into a place. they probably had fake ID's for the hell teenagers they were. and once they're in, Alex hits the floor, Reggie joins him and while Luke and Bobby don't really vibe with the music, they r definitely impressed by some guys' clothing and hairstyle. After a while, they give it up and join their friends but everyone's fine with admitting Alex is the best dancet in the group.
You cannot convince me that these boys were "cool". Were they the bottom of the social hierarchy? Probably/maybe not. But they absolutely were not cool kids. At least not within their school.
