Things I'm emotional about in 1x04:

This line from Kirigan: "When I was a boy After I created the Fold I used to run away and hide here. Once I realised I was a descendant of the most hated Grisha in Ravka...I'd come here, throw a coin, make a wish in the fountain. Same wish, over and over again. That I could be anyone else."

90% of this is? Most likely true. He's not even lying, he's just changed a few details.

2. Alina asking him, "Was I properly schooled?" after she recounts the story of the Black Heretic. She doesn't know that's him, but she believes they're family, and she's giving him an opportunity to set the story straight if she's mistaken, tell her his family's side. And he actually responds to this! Sort of, because centuries of trust issues are like. A Thing, and he's learned the hard way that trusting anyone is usually a Very Bad Idea. But he tells her that he's been trying to bring down the Fold and put things right all his life since then, and opens up a little, and looks surprised at himself that he did.

3. "Nina Zenik...hasn't reported in. If she's alive, she may need our help."

A whole army under his command, and he sends one of his own personal bodyguards after her. I love a man who doesn't leave his agents in the shit, even if it's only because they're useful. It would have been so easy for him to dismiss her as compromised and send someone to eliminate her before she's able to give up any information to Fjerda - but he sends Fedyor to help her instead. Fuck me up.

4. Genya trying so hard to flirt with poor awkward David. This man is a massive autistic mood. The woman who never compliments anyone gives him like three compliments in a row and he's just like yep okay thank you bye

5. The sheer amount of trust between Inej and Jesper for her to let him shoot a playing card out of her mouth. For a girl with such a traumatic backstory full of so much loss and pain, that she's able to trust anyone that much makes me feel things.

Friday February 13, 2009. Eliza Dushku plays Caroline Farrell and Echo in episode 1x01 Ghost. (IMDB rating: 7 / 10)

Dollhouse, Season 1, Episode 1: Ghost. "A wealthy backer asks the Dollhouse for help when his daughter is kidnapped. They send Echo to negotiate the release."

In Dollhouse a top secret organization erases the identities of attractive young people, turning them into blank "dolls" ready for imprints of temporary identities they need to fulfill assignments for clients.

Eliza appeared in every episode of Dollhouse's two seasons, most often playing Echo. She also served as series producer. (Eliza's first producer credit is as associate producer on her 2008 movie The Alphabet Killer.)

Good evening, tonight I’ve decided to be incredibly not normal about Farah Black <3 I could literally go on for days about the connection between her and the cultist impersonating Agent Weedle in season one aAAAHHHHHH

Starting with the parallels: They’re both individuals playing as close as they can get to being the “real thing” with such different intentions. We’ve got the cultist inhabiting the body of an FBI agent and trying(?) to convincingly impersonate an agent in furtherance of their whole conspiracy. Meanwhile, Farah’s become Patrick Spring’s bodyguard/private security personnel/one-woman militia because, despite being terrifying competent, she was never cleared to actually work for the FBI because of her neuroses. 

And based on nothing but the FBI’s files on Farah, Not-Weedle immediately hones in on exactly what her insecurities are during their first exchange in 1x04. He’s absolute garbage at pretending to be the real thing-- definitely not good at it--, but he knows that deep-down she doesn’t think she’s good enough either.

And then she kills him in 1x07!! Literally shooting the embodiment of some of her own biggest insecurities in the head!!! Because she is good enough!

My Demon (Netflix) : 1x03 & 1x04

It was really nice, but I wasn't expecting for Madam Ju to die so soon.

The story is very entertaining and absorbing.

Can't wait for next week.

Chucky 3x01 Murder at 1600

Chucky befriends the President's son Henry in the White House. Jake and Devon assist Lexy in finding her missing sister Caroline.

The president story isn't really working for me just yet but one of his bodyguards was in the episode of OB I watched earlier, him beating up Donnie. So to see him be a nice guy immediately after was a funny coincidence. Also, Jake and Devon were very cute.

Mr. Patoff continues making odd requests, confusing the workers even more. Mr. Sang's mother arrives from Seoul.

I cannot figured out what Patoff is getting out of taking over the company in such an alienating counter-productive way. It's like if Mythic Quest was set in Severance.

I might have an idea of what Jaskier necklaces mean, however it’s only my thoughts/theory and there might be a much deeper meaning for them of Joey cos we know he was the one who asked to add these.

The strange fork like thing is obviously a tune fork for the lute. That was a smart move and I spent some time figuring that out.

The ring. Here’s probably something deeper than what I think, but… For the character such as Jaskier, especially without his bff/bodyguard, there’s needed to be some kind of protection from the guys (1x04 as the example). He either wears it and then puts it on his finger when in trouble, claiming that he’s a husband to someone. Or having it for the drama, like he’s lost his partner, widower, etc.

it’s canonical that dean reads—widely—so the simpsons comment actually makes more sense if you read it as dean trying to throw sam off the scent. deflecting. take the focus off of him. this is dean’s typical self-deprecating behavior.

dean = dumb:

you gotta remember that dean grew up in a “household” that didn’t prioritize his needs, let alone his education. his job was to babysit, bodyguard, and follow orders. so dean likely has a lot of internalized feelings about his intelligence. he constantly refers to sam and john as geniuses.

I did some math and if dean had stayed in school he would’ve graduated at 17 in the spring of 1997. which means he got his GED sometime between then and when we first meet him in the pilot, 8 yrs later. it takes, on average, 3 months to get your GED.

but I can’t imagine dean having that much downtime between hunts. but I can imagine him finding one of those GED textbooks—probably at a thrift store while shopping for flannel—and carrying it around in his duffel for...a year? reading it on motel beds, his practice tests mixed in with pages of lore. or while driving, an audio cassette version playing in place of music.

dean never does any of this when john is around. he’d tell him he’s wasting his time. what do you think you’re sammy or something? focus on the job. dean is a tool. a blunt instrument of destruction. you don’t need book learning or a GED for that.

sam = smart:

in phantom traveler (spn 1x04) we learn that, away from his sons, john actually brags about sam going stanford. he knows that normal non-hunting people would see that as an accomplishment. bragging is playing the proud dad card. just a normal guy, who’s more than happy to help you with your pesky ghost problem.

it also smacks a little of jealousy to me. john knows sam’s smarter than him (likely dean too) and we’ve seen plenty of instances where he’s withheld knowledge from them. as a means of control, yes, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s just to be petty as well. father/author/god and all that.

but it also occurs to me that sam was probably their researcher from the get-go. holed up in the motel of the week, waiting for john and dean to return from a hunt, with nothing else to do but click around the internet on his second-hand laptop.

and maybe dean calls him. from payphones and later burner cells. it’s to check in but he says it’s for directions or to confirm information. and sam wants to help. and he also finds that he enjoys the research. it’s a hunt of it’s own—but without the visera. and the payoff is being able to contradict john.

by the time sam’s old enough to really hunt, full time, he’s already cemented himself as the winchester researcher. and it works. sam’s the database, dean is the soldier, john the general.

all this to say, I think dean is lying about “eddie albert poe.” in their line of work authors like poe—an iconic purveyor of supernatural tales—is likely part of their day-to-day lore.

and since poe is taught in a lot of US high schools, he’s definitely going to be on the GED. so I don’t buy that dean hasn’t read “the raven” or “the tell-tale heart” or “lenore.” not for a second.
