More Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き) before the ingredients pass the expiry date. :D This time it is really just cabbage pancake because that is all we have at that moment. The brown pea-like thing in the batter are crunchy tempura flour bits.
Tumblr media
The Okonomiyaki look pretty good on its own even before we loaded it with the sauces. Topped it with plenty of bonito flakes and seaweed powder. I have to be careful not to walk in front of the running fan or else I got a whole lot of cleaning to do. :D

I love takoyaki but the fluttering bonito flakes on top simultaneously fascinate me and creep me out

UnnanHyakuyaku(雲南百薬) and its a la carte dish(recipe)
Tumblr media
cooking
Boil the leaves, soak in water for about 15 minutes, and season with soy sauce, kombu soup, and bonito flakes. It is Japanese cuisine "Ohitashi:お浸し". This time, we paired it with seaweed wakame (UnnanHyakuyaku is also called “hill wakame”) and added cherry tomatoes for color.
Tumblr media
Cultivation
UnnanHyakuyaku is a vegetable of the Periwinkle family, a highly nutritious vine.It is said to be equivalent to 100 kinds of medicine.
For the past 10 years, I've been growing them on my veranda at home. "Hyakuyaku": It is a name with many medicinal properties, but it is not native to China's Unnan province, but is native to Central and South America. Flowers that bloom in autumn have a jasmine-like fragrance.Anredera cordifolia(scientific name)

Sis is making Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き) for our dinner so mum can takes a rest. Beside the main ingredients of batter and diced cabbages, there are also cubes of shiitake mushrooms and cooked octopus. Once done, drizzle it with okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise then cover it in bonito flakes and shredded seaweeds. The octopus cubes gave this Japanese cabbage pancake an added chewy texture while the bonito and seaweed added umaminess. The two sauces harmonize everything together with their savouriness and creaminess.

Soooo...I love to cook, and dramas inspire me. Here, we have pork ramen topped with green onions, kimchi, pork belly/bacon sauteed with onions, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and bonito flakes.
