The doctors reunion with Ace and Tegan in the power of the doctor was incredibly lacklustre compared to his one with Mel in the giggle.

I’m sorry, I generally hate to level this complaint at Jodie (and I know it was probably Chibnall who wrote it that way) but that was NOT the doctor. The Doctor has never been so cold when meeting old companions. NEVER. There’s just something that feels so fundamentally wrong about that scene and it’s the only part of the Chibnall era that I truly 100% hate.

And the absolute GOAT that is Ace McShane deserved better than this!

Companion swap!

Ace would not like 5 and 5 would not like Ace. She would drive him NUTS and he's far too posh, prim, and proper for Ace. Far too young looking to be a "professor" anyway.

Mel would ADORE him. Fit and active AND a vegetable as a main part of his outfit. Yes please. He'd like her as well (except for the screaming). She at least wouldn't argue with him too much. I can also see our boy enjoying some carrot juice.

A happy (sad) reunion! They were such a little family with 5, so there's no way he wouldn't be emotional seeing them all again. Especially Adric for obvious reasons.

Adric would like 7. Plotting and all that. We all know how Adric likes to team up with the bad guys every now and then.

Nyssa would overall like him, but I think the scheming would bother her a bit.

Tegan would NOT like 7. Never knowing what the plan is or what's going on. No thank you. Back home she'd go as soon as she could. It was bad enough with 5.

IMPORTANT QUESTION!:

Would you see Stu's relationship with Bonnie and Janet as dad and daughters or uncle and neices?

Ooohhh, good question.

I know this might open the floodgates because canonically he is their adoptive father, but Stu does not strike me as a very responsible guy. Man can barely take care of himself. (Yes, there's character development, and I've incorporated it in my headcanons, but this is still something I feel. Stu's 'development' was with the Bad Randoms. he entertains without hurting himself! and then suddenly kids. Okay?)

Nor does Janet strike me as a teen. Early 20s, given her stunt devil/pilot aesthetic. She's way too good at what she does to be a teen to me.

So it's quite complicated! To me, Stu can be an uncle, a la Bon-Bon and his own lines using "Uncle Stu," or my personal favorite:

Stu adopts Bonnie because while Janet is old enough to, she doesn't meet all the requirements to do so on her own. (Mainly money!) Stu, a family friend, is so fond of these sisters, so he does!

In some versions, (like in this drabble that I wrote,) Janet is simply an older orphan (16-17) and adopted.

No matter the age though, Janet is the most responsible one of those three. 💞

Wait until you hear about my Stu/Charlie ship though.
