- like can we discuss this man’s thighs. Because….yummy. I don’t know how I’d be able to concentrate if he was wearing shorts at any point in this show. I have this picture in my mind of Gareth being forced to wear those 70s/80s aggressively short shorts out once and like, it causing a car accident because all anyone can see is the hams on this man lmao. I just know his lap is so comfy and perfect.

- ALSO, the tummy. His little pudge drove me over the edge because it’s SO FREAKING CUTE. Like imagine how warm and comfortable this man is to cuddle with. Bonus points - he probably has stretch marks that are so pretty. He’s insecure about it but they’re just like the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen, little opal lightning strikes up his torso <3 I know people tend to crap on stretch marks but I honestly think they’re so gorgeous - they’re so personal and they’re such a meaningful sign of growth and change and I just love ‘‘em so much.

- His hair. Just take a moment with me to picture in your mind how it would feel to run your hands through it. It probably smells like shampoo most days but after shows he smells like smoke and mint and sweat and his curls get all wet and cling to his face. Watching how it swings in rhythm when he’s playing the drums, waiting for him to flip it when he’s really feeling the music. Putting it into little pigtails and one of those fuzzy headbands so you can have a spa night with masks and all.

- Gareth strikes me as the kind of individual that’s always bruised or cut somewhere because he just attacks life at full speed. Screw knives, he rips open packages with his bare hands and suddenly has cardboard cuts. He falls while moving something and has a scraped knee. Gets bloody noses every summer and without fail gets a sinus cold every year on Jan 2nd. Once he broke his thumb and called you crying afterwards, he made you swear to never tell anyone.

- I need his ears to be pierced. I .NEED. HIS. EARS. TO. BE. PIERCED.

- Welcome to my Ted talk: Gareth’s necklace and Gwydions chains. Tell me what medieval sorcery is in that silver little chain just bouncing on his chest. I’m jealous of silver. I want that chain to smack me in the face while we’re in missionary. Anyways.

- HIS HANDS. Like you know when dudes have those slender but also muscular hands? Like the ones that have super nimble fingers and really good hand strength? Yeah. Also his nails look shockingly clean and I like to imagine him with one of those little nail scrubbers when he washes his hands. Adorable.

- DIMPLES.

- Films I think modern Gareth would love: treasure planet, coraline , the Batman movies (Christian bale and Robert Pattinson ones), the 1996 Romeo’ and Juliet, Paul blart: mall cop, goosebumps, American ultra, moonrise kingdom, the hunger games, what we do in the shadows, smallville, sharknado, big hero six, love Rosie, midnight in Paris, paddington, fleabag, marvel movies, into the spider verse, metal lords, peaky blinders lol.

- As much as I love sub Gareth, I feel like he’s a hardcore Dom or at the minimum a strong switch. Something about him radiates “I like telling people what to do” but in a soft way? Like irl he’s pretty chill, sets decent boundaries, likes to adventure and let loose. In bed though - 👀 he’s just a huge service top who loves putting you in your place. 99% of the time he’s just teasing you or pushing you till you can’t go anymore because it makes him feel so good to watch you melt.

- That being said he’s def a cuddles guy. Likes being babied when he’s sick, likes holding your hand all the time. Always has to be touching you somewhere or sneaking little kisses. It gets worse if you ever get pregnant because he’s a family guy so he won’t let you do anything alone “just in case”.

- I can see him being a teacher of some kind, maybe a music teacher? Like he’s gotta be excellent with kids, especially the stubborn ones. I can also see him being a History nut, so maybe a history teacher. Really smart he’s just not a huge school person and has some rough mental health days so he does okay but not top of the class.

- I just feel like he starts painting his nails in college sometimes just for the hell of it. Doesn’t stop, so he walks into work one day and his students are like, hey what’s on your nails? He’s just like, my wife is great at painting nails and she got new polish - and he just shows his hand and his nails are all glittery and green <3

- When he’s a dad he absolutely gets tattoos with the specific intent of letting his kids color them in. You’re just chilling and you see the two of them at the dining room table. Your little kiddo goes, “look! I fixed daddy’s tattoo!” And it’s just marker scribbles everywhere but Gareth shows everyone anyway.

- This is ridiculously specific but I think Gareths first kiss was actually with a boy. It was a dare in elementary school and he didn’t know how to process it. He started questioning real young and his family is a lot of things but not homophobic so he just tries to figure it out. As times change and people get more open, Gareth gets more comfortable with talking about it because he was bullied for so long. I’m general he seems like the kind of person who just doesn’t feel like labels are needed, he just likes who he likes and it happens to be everyone lol. Would absolutely go to pride with you if you asked, and constantly goes out of his way to make sure people know he’s a safe place if they ever need it.

- This is super depressing but I think about how with the time period, the gang probably will lose someone to AIDS. It’s super personal. I can see robin volunteering at the hospital to sit and talk with people, and Steve too. Will and Joyce donate quilts and Jonathan takes free portraits for couples so they have pictures together. Gareth volunteers no doubt, and will probably lose several close friends because the way the metal community and queer community are tied together. Freddie Mercury’s death def hits him really hard. I can’t emphasize enough that this is so serious, and as someone in the queer community I can only imagine how it would feel being queer in the 80s. Much love and peace to our fallen family, we remember you <3

- On a happier note, I feel like Gareth is someone who loves drag shows lmao. He would absolutely punch a Terf in the face and I stand by that.

The Hayden Young Project - Skill Variations, PM2

Skill Variations for Book 1 | The Hayden Young Project

We now move on to Book 2, to see how the four major skills play out, and how they are applied in different scenes. Once compilations have been done, I will calculate how often they have been used across the series.

It will undoubtedly be less than the number of personality variations, and those are an intergral, default part of Hayden's character, whereas the skills are just nice perks that can prove to be either useful or entertaining (or both!) depending on the context.

Two weeks ago, "Good Burger 2" was released in theaters and on Paramount+ as Nickelodeon Movies' 61st theatrical film ever produced. So far, this movie is killing it at the box office and in digital rental sales. Critics even called it better than the first movie. Hi hi!!! I hope everything is going well for you! We had 4th of July on Monday and tbh it's probably my least favorite holiday. I could go into intense detail but to put it simply fireworks are pretty, but are loud, scary, and can hurt me. Not to mention that America is a joke at this point. But alas, doesn't matter what I think bc I worked a 10 hour shift.

I'm going camping this weekend with my family/housemates and I'm excited. I'm gonna swim so much and eat literally only smores. (I'll add some protein somewhere...) speaking of swimming I've been spending days off at the lake, it's like 15 mins away from my house.

I also went on a shopping spree recently, I bought a tent and an air mattress for camping but the store was coincidentally next to a book store and I bought a lot of manga bc of the 4th of July sale....

Also, I've been talking to a lot of family lately since my mom passed. My grandma on my dad's side happened to send me some photos from the 2000's. Some of them had my mom in it, but most of them were just baby pics of me.

Hope you had fun camping! I went to the lake last week had the time of my life swimming (bonus for not being saltwater so not problem when it gets in your eyes or accidentally swallowing some). Also got ice cream :)

I spent 3 days at my bf's house, not sure if i already told you in another ask, but a lot of fun! We made like 40 pancakes too

The heatwave is still going, 41 degrees Celsius are planned for Tuesday. Have an appointment in Paris on Wednesday but we'll probably take the train this time, going in a car in this heat would probably end in a meltdown and a big fight. also i missy cat. He passed in June of 2020 and he was the best boy. Love him.

Yesterday i ate like 3 ice cream sundaes i bought from the store (chocolate strawberry and caramel) they were so good. Cause of the heat I'm having to reduce my time at the gym cause my mom is worried about me getting heatstroke or something but she said we could go to the swimming pool instead.

Wanted to have a picnic tonight so made a tuna/tomato quiche, mini sandwiches, and devilled eggs.

what is married life like for oc and eren in ‘NICE’? is it just like before/do you have any nice!husband!eren headcanons?

AHH I’m so happy you liked it and that you took the time to come and tell me!! Married life for them... doesn’t really differ from what their lives looked like before actually hehe. They were basically married without knowing it 🙄🙄 idiots to lovers or something like that; but here are a few head canons of the months immediately following NICE!

You officially got married in Paris on the fourth, not too long after Carla’s wedding. You guys flew in some officials, checked through all the technicalities, and signed the papers right on top of the Eiffel Tower (access granted by the city of Paris upon request of one Carla Jaeger, of course).

Aside from having the most picturesque location in the world to sign your marriage certificate, there wasn’t anything lavish in celebration after that. Carla’s wedding was just three days earlier, after all, and was still the talk of the local press. You did have a small party with your friends (Jean, Armin, Mikasa, Marco, Erwin, Levi, Hange came from the Alps for Carla’s wedding) in your overly large hotel room. Just some music, room service, and lots and lots of champagne.

Eren extended your winter break vacation by two weeks for an impromptu honeymoon to the Bahamas before you went home. Let’s just say you did not leave the safe haven of your hotel room very often, except to dip into the ocean a few nights (benefits of a private beach).

After getting married, the rings swapped places; the band with diamonds previously on your pointer finger was put on a chain (a new one since Eren threw the other one on the ground 💀), and you now wear the engagement ring on your ring finger.

Eren doesn’t like it when you take off the ring (the ring being the engagement ring). The first time you were going into the water, you were going to put it on the chain for safekeeping, but he protested very strongly. He would rather it rest safely in your suitcase than go around your neck again.

Your wedding bands are actually very similar to the band you already have: gold and diamond encrusted. Eren’s, however, has an emerald in the center, like the two emeralds that serve as the pistils of the sunflowers in your engagement ring (for reference, that ring looks something like this, but with a gold band). The bands were the first thing Eren bought when you guys got home.

Your friends in Dubai (Ymir, Reiner, Annie, Connie, Sasha) had no idea that you and Eren got married over winter break. Safe to say they were all… very surprised to hear the news. Connie was a little bit bitter because he missed it, and wolf whistles every time he sees your ring (even though he’s seen it before because you wore it on the necklace every day).

You got married in January, but have an official wedding in the process of being planned sometime around late summer/early fall. Carla insisted that you guys have a wedding despite already being married, and Eren agreed whole heartedly. They are both very into planning it, and yes, Eren is somewhat of a bridezilla, and his mom is enabling him 100% please.

The night you signed the wedding papers, Carla lent you an off-white satin couture gown from one of her past collections. She is designing and making your official wedding dress by hand, with the help of Mikasa.

The two of them are also making Eren’s suit, and all the outfits for your wedding party. Carla will murder you if you even so much as hint at just buying other suits/dresses. This is her baby’s wedding, and she runs one of the most renowned fashion houses of the modern century; she’ll be damned if you guys wear something off the rack.

You considered a destination wedding, but settled on having it in New York. You haven’t decided a location yet, and it’s the one thing Eren isn’t actually picky about (because you know he’s gonna go ham on the decor no matter where it is bye).

Jean doesn’t know it yet, but he’s your maid of honor. Good luck and best of wishes to Eren picking between Mikasa and Armin for best man.

Even before confessing and getting married, Eren never slept much in his own bedroom. You both have California king sized beds in your rooms, and more often than not, Eren would sleep with you in your bed. You didn’t always cuddle, but he just liked to be there (for your presence, and because he was grossly in love bye)… you ended up cuddling a lot of the time tho.

He wants to renovate your apartment now that you both “officially” live in the same bedroom, even though it’s not necessary. He just likes renovating things.

You guys go to dinner every weekend, and sometimes you even go dancing. Eren still can’t dance and he doesn’t actually care to learn; it just reminds him of being in Nice with you.

He kisses your ring finger every morning waking up and every night before going to bed; sometimes he even does it subconsciously in his sleep.

He holds your hand way more often. Not just because you guys are together now, but because he likes seeing the ring where it’s meant to be. He also notices that it helps to curb your anxiety, which is a good bonus.

Eren wants kids, but he hasn’t really brought it up yet. He knows you both are fairly young, and that you’re still technically in school, but that’s not really a deterrent for him.

The only reason he’s waiting to say something is because you guys have a lot going on with wedding planning and settling in to “married life”—there’s a lot of tedious paperwork to be done and documents to update. He’ll bring it up next year when all that is settled.

On the subject of school, you are still attending university, but have been eligible for graduation for a year now. You had enough credits to graduate last (the year before NICE) December, but there were a few more classes you wanted to take out of interest that hadn’t been running in past years, so you stayed for all four years. Eren picks you up from your lectures.

Eren graduated in December before you guys went on vacation. By normal standards, that’s a semester early. However, he was supposed to be in this Honors Arts and Sciences program, that should have taken him another two semesters. He decided it wasn’t worth it, and dropped the honors part, and with that, had enough credits to graduate, so he did.

A college degree is really more of an accessory for him anyway, and school was never his thing. He’s decently smart, sure, but he never enjoyed school because of the emphasis on exams; he’s more of a creative person, a dreamer if you will. The only reason he even went to Columbia was because you decided to go there.

He and you both have enough money to live more than comfortably if neither of you decided to get a job after graduation… way more than enough/ But Eren isn’t doing nothing; he’s actually sorta been working his way into the world of professional interior design, and he really loves it. You’re proud of him, and more than anything, happy that he decided to go for something he loves.

Armin and Jean also graduated a semester early. Armin’s been living with Mikasa since Connie got his own place off-campus in January. Jean is a little upset blondie is living with his girlfriend before he is, but it’s whatever 🙄if it’s gonna be anyone, at least it’s Armin.

Carla mentioned that Eren got married sometime during a NYFW interview (along with talking about her own recent marriage), and since then you both have interviewed for two magazines, one of which featured pictures from your smaller party in Paris. You’ve gotten requests from Vanity Fair and Vogue about your bigger wedding later in the year, but you guys haven’t invited any media officials as of yet.

You and Eren attend the MET Gala almost every year. You don’t walk the red carpet and nobody is scrambling to take your pictures; but you have passes because of Carla. Also, you could just buy your way in if you wanted you (and your friends have in the past). This year, Eren had to pay two security officers $10k in bribes because you two snuck away to fuck in… a part of the museum not sectioned off for the event. Whoopsies.

Even before Eren got him arrested, going out to brunch was kind of your and Armin’s thing. Eren insists he should be invited now that he’s your husband. He is not. (His bitterness grows when he learns that Jean has secured himself an invite somehow).

Eren sold the car he got arrested for drag racing in. He never told you why—and as far as transportation goes, it wasn’t a big deal because you guys have other cars—but, to him, it was a kind of symbol. He thinks it’s dumb if he thinks too long about it, but he just didn’t wanna have that there are a reminder of how he’d hurt you and his mom.

Jean still drives you to your therapy appointments, but now Eren picks you up. Eren also goes to therapy himself, and has been before you guys got married; his therapist says he’s undoubtedly happier in recent sessions… like a weight’s been lifted off his shoulder.

As far as drugs go, there’s, of course, weed on a happy occasion, or at a party; but he hasn’t touched coke since that one time (which was also the first time he’d ever done it). That’s not even him being a changed man, he just didn’t like it—he only argued with you about it because he was being stubborn. He’s more of a drinker than anything, and absolutely loves to get you drunk on a special occasion, too; he always has. He thinks you look cute, and he likes taking care of you.

You have lived in that apartment with Eren for years before marrying him, yet he insisted you needed to christen the place like it was brand new… at this point, the only places you haven’t fucked in are the elevator itself, the foyer, the storage closet, and the pool. The latter only because it’s been too cold in NYC… trust and believe pool sex is coming lmfao.

Eren bought the apartment and renovated and designed it, but he never did like being in it all alone, and that’s been magnified since you got married. If he’s there by himself, he’s usually in the living area, napping on the daybed. He waits for your faithfully every day, and is hardly in the bedroom if you’re not.

Eren has not stopped introducing you as his wife since January. Even to people in passing like cashiers and bartenders, everyone in the whole damn city probably knows you guys got hitched.

And that's a wrap! Thank you so much to everyone that has read and supported this story! It is literally my fandom baby.

I am debating writing a sequel series that takes place between chapter 40 and the epilogue that follows Adrien's journey recovering from his childhood trauma. It would be very meta and in a way mirror the beginning of this story. It would delve deeper into how they grew up and moved on, what happened to Nathalie and Gorilla, what Adrien is doing with his life, etc. So, let me know in the comments if you'd be interested in seeing something like that. “Does the Eiffel Tower look different to you?” Adrien peeked out the window of Marinette’s jet as they circled around to the airport.

She lowered her magazine, leaning over him to look out. “It’s been a while since we’ve seen it, but I think it’s still the same. It looks different when you’re not climbing it.” She shot him a smirk.

Adrien sat back with a laugh.

“I once scaled it in 4 seconds flat.” He boasted as if she’d be impressed.

“I was there when you did it, remember? You were so proud of yourself.” She brushed his nose with her finger, lifting her magazine again. “I never wanted to disappoint you, but I did it in 3 and a half once.”

“What?” He gaped as their pilot’s voice sounded over the intercom, instructing them to fasten their seatbelts and prepare for landing.

“I’ve already arranged a car to take you to your parents’ house. Tomorrow morning, you have an appearance at the De-evilize foundation, then a phone interview with Mode. At 3 o’clock you’ll meet with your friends for tea for the rest of the evening.” Danielle listed when they landed, scrolling down her tablet screen.

“Thank you, Danielle.” Marinette nodded.

Marinette was busy as usual, but Adrien knew this trip was for business—her trips usually were. This time, however, Adrien had some business of his own to attend to. It had been seven years since he’d been in Paris last, even longer since he’d seen him.

“It feels weird to be back. I guess I’ve tried not to think about Paris since we left. At least, not the bad parts anyway,” Adrien said as they paced hand-in-hand across the runway to the waiting car.

“You’re in a better place now than you were last time we were here,” Marinette said, accepting his help into the car. “You’ve come a long way.”

“Yeah…” He climbed in after her, wiping his palms on his pants with a sigh. “I’m just a little nervous I guess.”

“You don’t have to see him, you know.” Marinette pointed out, placing a hand over his. “You can sit with me while I do my interview.”

“No. I need to go. I’ll never be able to move on if I don’t.” He shook his head. When her eyebrows furrowed into a worried crease, he added, “I’ll be fine. I promise.”

“Okay.” She pressed her lips together. “One thing at a time. That’s tomorrow’s problem.”

“Yeah, you’re right.” He sighed. “I’ve missed your dad’s croissants. We haven’t had them since they came over for Christmas.”

“I’m sure he’s made you plenty.” Marinette giggled, leaning against his arm.

Marinette’s parents welcomed them with open arms when they arrived. Her dad gave them both a bear hug the moment they walked in the door, and Adrien was reminded that not all of his memories of Paris were bad. There was a lot of good still left there, and it gave him the courage he needed to face what he’d been running from all these years—the past he hoped to leave behind. It was time to finally face it. To face him one last time.

“I’ll meet you after, okay?” Marinette said the next day on the curb outside their foundation headquarters—the center they’d built where his old house used to be. She stretched up to kiss him hard before he ducked into the town car and closed the door with a sigh.

Several times on the way, he debated telling the driver to turn around, but each time he quietly berated himself for chickening out. He needed to go. Seven years was a long time, and he needed to finally rid himself of the darkness that had plagued him since he was 15. He wanted to live a long and happy life with Marinette, to put the past behind him for good and close the door without ever having to worry about it again, and this was the only way to do it. So, he let the driver continue on in silence, stomach churning in nervous knots.

Security was tight, but he should have expected as much from such a high-profile prison. His father always did get the best. Adrien barely flinched during the several searches he had to undergo as they made their way deeper into the facility. He wasn’t sure what to think about or what to expect, but when his father was finally led in wearing a gaudy orange jumpsuit, Adrien couldn’t help but smirk. They stared at each other through the glass pane before picking up the phones.

“Adrien,” he said, his voice hoarse and grey eyes wide with emotion.

“Father.” Adrien nodded curtly, pressing his lips into a firm line. “Long time no see.”

“I’d given up hope that you’d ever come here. It’s good to see you… You’ve grown so much.” His father looked him over. “How are you?”

“I’ve been better. I’ve also been worse.” Adrien shrugged. “Marinette and I live in New York. She just finished school, so we decided to make a trip, but I didn’t come here to catch up. I have something to say, and I want you to listen.”

His father lowered his gaze with a sigh, running a hand over his stubble and nodding.

“I’ve been angry with you for a long time. What you did was despicable and horrible, and somedays I still can’t believe it’s real.” Adrien twirled the phone cord around his fingers as he spoke, squeezing until his fingers turned purple. “All I ever wanted was for you to be there for me. To come to my fencing tournaments or even just have a meal with me more than once a month. I was willing to be patient with you for being busy with your work, but little did I know what kind of work you were actually doing.”

He flicked his gaze back up to his father who swallowed hard. “I should hate you, and maybe in some ways I do, but that’s not what I came here to say to you today.”

“Adrien-”

“I forgive you,” Adrien said. “I forgive you, Father.”

His father’s jaw dropped, lip quivering as tears welled in his eyes. His face fell into his hand, and Adrien sat back, running a hand over his face and tapping his foot.

“I don’t want you to be mistaken and think that this means I want you to be part of my life.” He continued. “This will probably be the last time we see each other. I’m going to ask Marinette to marry me, and when we have kids, your grandchildren, I don’t ever want you to meet them. I don’t want them to have a relationship with you. I never want you to be part of their lives, and I will work hard every day of my life to give them what I never had: a real father.”

“I suppose that’s what I deserve after everything.” Gabriel nodded, rubbing his cheek. “I’ve often debated what I would say to you if you ever came, but now I can’t seem to find the words, so I’ll just say this: I have always loved you, and I am sorry.”

Adrien held his gaze for a long moment, biting his lip. He placed the phone back on the receiver and stood up, following the guard back through the door. He never looked back.

“About time you showed up.” Chloe looked Marinette over, cocking a hip before a smile curled on her lips. “I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. You can’t show up anywhere on time if your life depended on it. You’re lucky I expected as much and told the press to be here an hour after I told you to show up.”

“Sorry, Adrien’s going to see he-who-shall-not-be-named today. I’m just worried,” Marinette said.

“He’ll be fine. Adrikins is tougher than he looks. He can thank me for that.” Chloe flipped her short, curly hair. “Seriously, don’t worry. He can do this.”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” Marinette lowered her gaze. “He’s just worked so hard. I’d hate for anything to ruin that.”

“Even if seeing his dad messes him up, he’ll just come crawling back to you to kiss his booboos and make him feel better. Relax.” Chloe rolled her eyes, turning on one heel and beckoning Marinette to follow. “Come on. The press shoot will be in here.”

Marinette took a deep breath and scurried after her. Familiar bouncy red curls were adjusting the microphones when they entered, and Marinette smiled, rushing over to hug her.

“What did I tell you about hugs?” Gabrielle sighed but patted Marinette’s back, nonetheless. “Good to see you in Paris again. How long are you here for?”

“Just a few days. We’re opening a boutique in Milan next weekend, so we’ll be flying out to oversee the preparations soon,” Marinette said.

“Where does she get all the energy?” Gabrielle asked Chloe with a smirk. “I swear, she runs on batteries.”

“Marinette has always been annoyingly perky and full of energy. I get tired just looking at her.” Chloe yawned. “I suppose you’re going to need a couple models for your boutique launch?”

“Well, I did bring some dress samples. If you two aren’t too busy,” Marinette said.

Gabrielle rolled her eyes. “We work for you, remember?”

“Well, yeah, but if you were busy, I could always call up Clara or Macy and-”

“Oh, no, Chloe. She’s offering to take us to Milan. How horrible.” Gabrielle moaned.

“Ugh, and she wants us to model in front of thousands of adoring fans and photographers? What are we, her workhorses?” Chloe scoffed.

“Ha ha, I get it.” Marinette smiled. “Thanks, girls.”

“If we’re offering up free trips to Milan, is there any way a star reporter could jump on that plane?” A smile spread on Alya’s lips in the doorway, and she cocked a hip. “These networks just do not compensate cross-country travel as well as you’d think.”

“What are you doing here already? Press isn’t supposed to be here for another twenty minutes.” Marinette crossed the room to hug her neck.

“Well, it’s easy to sneak in when you volunteer in your downtime. I kind of know all the security codes.” Alya winked. “I heard the whirlwind herself was going to be here, so I had to see it with my own eyes.”

“It’s been a while since I’ve been back in Paris. Unfortunately, I won’t be staying long, but I do accommodate my friends well on my trips, if you want to do a report on Milan.” Marinette offered.

“Does your jet still come stocked with those sodas from China?” Alya quirked a brow.

“Of course.”

“Yeah, I think I can squeeze it in.” She smirked. “Mind if I bring along a plus one? Nino complains every day about not seeing Adrien since we visited New York last.”

“He might have to ride in the cargo bay, but I’m sure we can squeeze him in.”

“Reporters are lining up outside.” Danielle announced.

“Guess it’s showtime.” Marinette hugged Alya’s neck one last time. “See you out there.”

“Knock ‘em dead, girl.”

“Marinette!” Macy squealed, racing to hug her as she and Adrien stepped out of the town car. “Oh, last time I saw you was at Eliott and Lisette’s wedding in London. It’s been so long since you’ve visited us in Paris.”

“It’s been a while, but I knew it was in safe hands.” Marinette leaned against her shoulder as Eliott descended the front steps and held out his arms.

“Well, well, well. Look who decided to show her face in Paris again.” He teased, kissing both of her cheeks. “Good to see you.”

“You too! Nice scarf, by the way.” Marinette traced her thumb over her brand logo with a smirk.

“I only wear the best.” Eliott shrugged. “Your color palette is stunning this year, no surprise.”

“Thanks.” She giggled, exchanging quick hugs with Lisette and Martin while Macy and Eliott traded off with Adrien.

“Well, we’re not going to stand out here all day. Come inside.” Macy gestured them up the stairs. “Martin and I imported our favorite tea, and we picked up some madeleines from the best bakery in town.” She winked at Marinette as they walked to the sitting room where her butler stood beside a fancy cart.

“So, how are things in New York? It’s been a couple weeks since we spoke last,” Lisette asked as they settled in.

“Great! I just finished with school, we’re opening a store in Milan, and I have a branding campaign coming up in a few weeks. I’ll be traveling around a lot for the next year while Adrien finishes up school, but we’ve actually talked about settling back here in Paris once it’s over,” Marinette said. “How are things here? I’ve heard album sales are going well, and Eliott is playing the lead role in an upcoming show. Oh, and congrats on the engagement!”

“Thanks.” Martin’s cheeks flushed as Macy flashed the ring.

“Are you going to design the dress, Marinette?” Lisette asked.

Marinette sipped her tea to hide her smirk. “Oh, I’ve already designed the entire bridal party,” she said nonchalantly. “We can look at that later.”

“I asked her as soon as Martin proposed. There isn’t anyone else in the world that I trust to design for me,” Macy said. “It also helps when your sister-in-law is a makeup artist.”

Lisette flashed her a grin.

“When is the wedding? Have you decided yet?” Adrien asked.

Macy shook her head. “We haven’t picked a date yet, but we’re hoping to do it before Martin applies to law school.”

“Well, I’ll get everyone’s measurements before I leave today. When you decide on the designs you like I’ll get started on them when I get back to New York,” Marinette said.

“Speaking of weddings, I’m surprised you two haven’t tied the knot yet.” Lisette smirked.

Marinette shot Adrien a smile. “We’ve talked about it, but we’ve both been in school, I’ve been traveling a lot, and we wanted to make sure that Adrien was okay after everything.”

“We’ll make plans soon.” Adrien winked.

“Well, Alya and I have already planned your bachelorette party, so just be prepared,” Macy said.

“Why does that make me worry?” Marinette laughed.

Macy shot her a wink before her face softened. “It’s really good to see you both again for something that isn’t related to a charity or an event,” she said. “We’ll have to get together more when you two move back here.”

“We will, definitely.” Marinette promised, giving her hands a squeeze.

They caught up and prattled on about Macy’s new album, work they’d done with their charities, Adrien’s psychology classes. It was nice to catch up with friends again without an ulterior motive, like Macy said. Adrien was quiet for most of the afternoon, which Marinette expected. What she wasn’t expecting was when he requested they stop somewhere special on the way home.

“Where are we going?” Marinette asked as he took her hand and led her up the strip toward the Trocadero.

“You’ll see.” He took a few more steps, turning to face the Eiffel Tower and adjusting her accordingly. “Right here.”

“Right here?” She quirked a brow, glancing down at their feet.

“Right here.” He nodded. “This is the spot where I was standing when I fell head-over-heels in love with you all those years ago. We were fighting Stoneheart, and you vowed to protect Paris no matter what, and it was the moment when you stole my heart and ran away with it.”

Marinette bit back a smile as he continued.

“I made my own vow that day that no matter who was under the mask, I was going to love you for the rest of my life.” He reached into his pocket, dropping down on one knee. “And I intend to keep that promise. Marinette Dupain-Cheng, my Ladybug, will you marry me?”

She cupped her hands over her mouth, eyes watering. “Of course, chaton.”

Adrien stood up to meet her lips, their smiles and laughter breaking each kiss. Not everything in their life had gone the way they’d pictured it, but in the end they’d overcome every obstacle thrown their way. Akumas, broken friendships, fame, Lila, Hawkmoth, the weight of Gabriel’s sins. It was the two of them against the world—as always—and they’d come out the other end stronger. No matter where they went in life, everything would work out so long as they had each other.

I am both intrigued & gratified that you seem to pay special attention in your fics to both acknowledging and providing an experience of grief over the death of a character. For you, I have a three part Ask:

1. Have you ever experienced a fictional character loss that brought you to your knees, emotionally?

2. In your own writing, have you ever written a character’s death and regretted it? (Became too attached, yourself, to the character)

3. Bonus Question: you are in a unique situation, in that you are writing a fic in which there are predetermined truths (Canon so to speak) Do you ever wrestle with wanting to change something big - something REALLY BIG? Examples: Yularen does not die on the Death Star or even more preposterous, Alderaan is not destroyed.

1. Okay, I don’t want to give away too many spoilers about my all time favorite TV show, but the final episode of Person of Interest had me bawling, I mean really ugly sobs when I lost my beloved.... I’ll say no more. In a novel I cried like a baby over a character in Scalzi’s The Ghost Brigades. Also Speaker for the Dead, but I hate to mention it because Card is such a problematic figure. 2. It’s always hard to kill a character when you have developed them, spent time with them, but I know ahead of time that “they are born to die” because I outline everything so carefully. There is a wonderful story that after Dumas killed Porthos he laid down his pen, unable to write, and walked the streets of Paris crying out “I killed Porthos!” 3. I would never change anything major in a piece of set fiction. Kanan must die. Thrawn and Ezra must be lost. Yularen must die on the Death Star. Now I am going to fiddle with the timing of when Kallus actually becomes Fulcrum. If the writer’s of the show didn’t want this confusion they should never have had him say to Sabine. “Tell Garazeb Orrelios, we’re even.” With that single line they imply he is not yet Fulcrum even though we know he is from the voice on the message. And yeah, I could grab my soapbox and give my rant about not asking readers/viewers for an emotional reaction and then telling them it doesn’t matter. Death should have consequence and not be treated as something to be shaken off or treated lightly.

Hello darlings! I was going to wait to release this chapter, but decided to release it tonight in honor of our dearest @deepdarkdelights. She’s an amazing writer and if you don’t know her, you should go check her out right now!

Namjoon was true to his word. She never left the rooms that were prepared for her over the next week. Jin had come and gone to check on her stitches. He’d even come again and played a card game with her, but her days were otherwise monotonous. Jin couldn’t come to keep her company every day, but the two visits she had been granted with the doctor had been the highlight of her stay. He was also the only visitor she actually enjoyed seeing.

The First two days of her imprisonment had been spent on strict bedrest. Namjoon had threatened to chain her to the bed if she continued to try to get out of it. That had stopped her protests very quickly. And true to his word, while she was trapped in bed, he had his goons come in to seal off all the windows though he was right by her side the entire time it was happening. As it turned out Jin was the only one of his men that he trusted to be alone with her. Paranoid bastard.

His visits were the worst part of her days. While he kept her on bedrest, he had stayed home keeping her company, ensuring she wasn’t disobeying the doctor’s orders. He brought her books to read while he would read on the sofas and fussed over her health no matter how many times she snapped at him to leave. It wasn’t like she could escape when the windows were sealed and the door was always locked when he wasn’t in the room. She knew this because she’d checked. During one of the few times Namjoon had left her alone in those first few days, she’d taken the opportunity to check the door only to find it sealed tight, just like the windows.

Once she was free to move about the room, Namjoon returned to his normal activities, whatever those were, but it gave her a little more room to breathe. But there was only so much one could do while trapped in a locked room though. There were only so many games of solitaire and so many books someone could read before they were ready to rip their hair out by the roots.

“Hello, sweet girl!” Came a cheery voice from the entry way, and she couldn’t help but smile.

“Jin!” She cheered from her spot on the floor. “Come play narts with me.” She’d introduced him to the game the last time he came to visit.

“How’s that head feeling, sweet girl?” he asked moving to take a seat across from her. “You know there are two perfectly good sofas, and you’re sitting on the floor, right?”

She shrugged getting up to retrieve another set of cards. Jin had brought her some during his visit to check on her stitches. “Sometimes the floor is the best place to sit.” She returned taking a seat across from him on the floor. “And it has the added bonus of pissing of his highness. Who shoved a stick up his ass?”

There was the windshield wiper laugh she loved so much. Namjoon had cut her off from the world, and considering that she was locked away she hadn’t been able to make any new friends. Jin however was fast becoming her favorite person in the hellhole she was being forced to call home.

“He’s not so bad.” He argued as they both set to shuffling the decks of cards. “He’ll grow on you. He’s basically your husband after all.”

She groaned shooting him a playful glare. “Don’t remind me.”

“What? You don’t like being the new Mrs. Kim?”

“I would literally rather stab myself with a fork.” She deadpanned dealing up his set of cards for him.

“Don’t let Joonie hear you say that. He’ll take away all your eating utensils. He’s very concerned about your safety, you know.”

She scoffed taking a look at the cards that Jin had dealt for her as they started a more leisurely game of narts. The game itself was supposed to be fast paced, but they tended to play it very congenially when they were talking.

“Is that what it is? I thought he was just a psycho.” She placed down an ace in the middle, Jin placing down another one shortly after. “Any chance you’re going to sneak me out of here?”

“I like you, sweet girl. I really do, but not enough to betray Namjoon like that.”

“Then what good are you? If you have a three of hearts I can play a four right after.”

“Sorry. No such luck.”

“Damn. Well, either you need to play something else, or we need to lay down another ace.”

He hummed his agreement as they both shuffled through their cards looking for something else to play. “It’ll get better, you know?”

“What will?”

“Being here.” She paused in her movements, a card hovering midair as she was reaching to place it. She stared at him trying to decide if he was being serious or not. “He won’t hurt you. He’s not that kind of a man.”

“He’s an international crime lord.” She deadpanned.

“But he’s not a bad person. I work for him, and I’m not a bad person.”

“Yeah, well you’re shitty at narts.” She threw out another card glaring at him as she did. “Good people don’t kidnap other people, Jin. I was leaving. I was going home. He could have just let me go. I wasn’t going to be a threat to his empire, not from an ocean away.”

She wanted nothing more than to be home. But she had a way out. Jackson would know by now that something was wrong. Jackson would come for her. He always did. No they’d never been romantic, but Jackson had always watched over her like the older brother she’d never had. He’d helped her get away from Marcus. He’d helped her set up a new life when she was finally free, been her shoulder to lean on as she recovered from years of beating by Marcus’ hands, but she didn’t want him coming here if he was going to get himself killed.

Namjoon was a powerful man, more so than either of them had ever had to deal with before, and she didn’t want Jackson getting hurt. He’d been through just as much shit as she had, maybe even more. He didn’t deserve to get himself killed getting her out of her own mess.

Jackson was a Hong Kong native. He’d been born to the crime syndicates there, granted he wasn’t born to the higher ups. He’d had to fight for everything he’d ever had, and eventually, he found a way out. He saved enough that he could leave, to slip away. And he did. He had no family to worry about, so he left to make a new life for himself. He never discussed the finer points of it all, or how he’d come to be a cop in the states, and she’d never pushed him for the information. But she was forever grateful that he’d come into her life when he had. She wouldn’t be able to live with herself if anything happened to him because of her.

“I promise it won’t be so bad here.” Jin reached over placing a hand over one of hers. “It could be a good life, if you’d let it be. And you have me. And we could play narts!”

She laughed placing her other hand over top of his. “You are my favorite person here. You know that, right?”

“Should I be jealous?”

Jin’s hand slipped away from hers as they both turned to face the newcomer. Namjoon stood leaned against the wall watching the both of them.

Jin turned back to her with a playful smile. “What do you say, sweet girl? Run away with me?” He asked dramatically taking her hands in his and waggling his eyebrows at her. “We can go to Paris, London, Rome.”

“I’d love to.” She laughed ignoring the sharp look Namjoon was giving them both.

It was all in good fun, but she knew full well that Namjoon wouldn’t like their playful banter paranoid bastard that he was.

“That’s enough, hyung.” He pushed off the wall moving toward where they were sat on the floor. “Why are you both on the floor? There are two very nice couches right behind you.”

“That’s what I said!” Jin yelled throwing up his hands in exasperation. “But your wifey prefers to sit on the floor.”

“I’m not his wifey!” She shrieked reaching over to flick him in the shoulder causing the older man to whine and rub at it as though it was some sort of mortal wound. “It didn’t even hurt, you big baby.” She grumbled settling back into her spot.

“Would you be my wifey then?” He propped his elbows on the coffee table to stare at her with a mischievous smile.

“Sure. Name the date. We’ll get married right away.”

Namjoon groaned sitting himself down on the sofa behind Jin. “I never should have allowed you two to spend time together.”

“Too late now, Joonie.” Jin hummed in false sympathy. He enjoyed spending time with Y/N just as much as she enjoyed spending time with her. It was nice to have a new face in the house.

“You’re back early.” She noted giving her concentration back to the cards on the table placing down a king and flipping over the stack.

“Did you miss me?” He grinned something playful and almost hopeful lighting up his eyes.

“No.” Came the very bland reply accompanied by Jin’s snickers.

“Jagi.” He groaned leaning his head back on the sofa tiredly. “You wound me.”

“Good. Maybe you’ll get sick of me, and I can go home.”

“No.”

“It was worth a try.” She shrugged turning her attention back to Jin. “Jin, darling, do you have an eight of spades?”

He looked over his own cards. “Yes!”

“Great then I can play the nine and ten.”

“What are you two even playing?” Namjoon sighed leaning forward to look at the cards splayed across the coffee table.

“Narts.” They both replied not really paying attention to the other man as they focused on finishing the game at full speed slamming down cards in quick succession.

“Narts!” She called throwing up her hands with a smile of victory.

Jin frowned placing his cards down. “You haven’t won yet! We still have to count the cards!”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. You still suck at narts.” She grinned gathering up the cards in the middle and beginning to separate for counting.

Namjoon watched transfixed. He had never seen her so happy in the time he’d known her. Jin made her happy. It was the only reason why he had continued to allow Jin to visit her. He truly didn’t want her to be miserable here, but Namjoon was a smart man. He knew it was going to take time for her to adjust to her new life. Eventually she would come to be just as happy here with him as she was playing cards with Jin, once she’d settled.

“Ha!” She cried triumphantly grinning from ear to ear as she laughed at Jin’s scandalized expression. “I won!”

“You cheat!”

“No, you just suck at narts!”

Yes, she’d settle here, one way or another. He would make sure of it.
