✨ A SPARK OF MAGIC BLURB REVEAL ✨
It's time to share A Spark of Magic's blurb with you 😌 A special thank you to @cursed-mars-bars for helping me figure this blurb out! I included its transcript in the ALT text in the images above, but you can read it as well below the cut! Are you excited to dive into a world of mystery and secrets?
LIFE CAN CHANGE IN AN INSTANT.
Isaac had it all: place on the swimming team, popularity amongst his peers, and acceptance to a prestigious university. Until he didn't. Now, he grows a tail whenever water is involved. He is running out of time and ideas.
DANGER LOOMS AROUND EVERY CORNER.
Alice has only wanted one thing: to get her magic back. After having her life turned upside down, reconnecting with her powers is the only way to prove her worth as a witch, and hopefully leave her small town for good.
HELP IS WORTH RISKING EVERYTHING.
Isaac knows Alice might be his only chance at getting his life back, but her help doesn't come without sacrifices. Differences must be put aside to find a solution, even when everything feels like it is trying to drive them apart. Luckily they seem to agree on one thing: this should be their secret.
SECRETS ARE HARD TO KEEP. THE ANSWERS ARE EVEN HARDER TO FIND. TRUST CAN BE EARNED, BUT AT WHAT COST?

Ok But What Is Hera: To Catch a Star Even About?
Hera: To Catch a Star -- releasing in early 2023
Tumblr media
I'm going to try to share as much as I can without spoiling the story...
The Plot
Rynn Hera discovers he is the forbidden offspring of a celestial goddess and a mortal. As a result of this, he is in great danger and is pursued throughout the galaxy, for his blood makes him more powerful than he realizes. The first two novels chronicle Rynn’s travels with a brooding stranger, a kind but determined celestial priestess, and a witty space pirate/outlaw who is quite literally wanted by basically everyone in the galaxy.
The Characters
I haven’t really introduced any of my characters on here yet because I plan on doing so closer to the release of TCAS (To Catch a Star) but the main character is:
Rynn Hera. He’s a literal child. Lives in a cottage in the woods with his grandfather. Loves anything covered in sugar (three words: honey glazed rolls). Is he a cinnamon roll? A downright crybaby? I’ll let you decide for yourself.
The Trilogy
There are three novels in the Hera trilogy: To Catch a Star being the first.
As the series progresses, the plot gradually becomes more complex and weaves more characters and subplots into the main story, which is Rynn’s journey (both literally and emotionally) as the forbidden celestial child, son of a goddess and a mortal. In the end, a massive war birthed from religious and political conflicts is on the brink of breaking out, complicated by the existence of the celestial child and his powerful blood.
The Aesthetic/Mood
This is just a little sample of the moods across the trilogy, so it’ll vary based on novel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I Mustn’t Forget the Culture/Fashion!
I’d describe it simply as a combination between Traditional Asian and Victorian/French culture and I don’t know about you but I personally love that combination
A little bit of this and a little bit of this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, in addition to this everyone is always carrying a handgun/dagger and owns a spaceship/land speeder because although Hera is mostly fantasy there’s enough science fiction in there to classify it as such.
Details of Note
Glittery, syrupy-tasting blood ( not that anyone has tasted it to know…right?? ;) )? Check.
Tumblr media
A “Hero’s Escape” (as opposed to the classic “Hero’s Journey”—I posted a bit about that earlier on so go scrolling far enough and you’ll find it) across space? Check.
Tumblr media
Underground Gambling Club with a Poker-Playing Frog? Check.
Tumblr media
Honey-Glazed Rolls? Check.
Tumblr media
Thanks so much for reading, and I hope this has intrigued you and gotten you interested in the first Hera novel. There's much, much more to come leading up to the release and then even more after that, so like/reblog/comment with your thoughts so we can anticipate it together!
Hera: To Catch a Star is coming in early 2023 so stay tuned, and be prepared because it'll be here before you know it!
Like + reblog to spread the word / tag anyone you think might be interested <3

Sobre el libro | About this book
——————————————————
Ángela Martínez Iturbe fell deeply in love with someone who is rejected by her family. She and her beloved Raúl live a true and tragic love.
Andrea was just a girl when she crossed the border. Her life changed forever when she is bestowed a promise and an uncertain search.
Ariana Martínez Iturbe always knew she was different due to her gift to communicate with the souls who still wander the earth. A gift she shares with Andrea, but Andrea has always rejected.
The lives of these three women interweave to tell a story about love and family, the experiences of the Latin American immigrant, the bond between life and death, with how absurd society’s rules dictate how to live life.

So, I tried drawing a Fourth Closet Baby as a one-to-one with the book.
Let’s say the layer merging messed up a crucial detail or two.
Tumblr media
Sigh. She was so close to being pretty in pearlescent. 😕
That aside, the graphic novel one is more iconic to me and I love it. Really just wanted to see what a more book-accurate one could look like.

Preface and Introduction to No As A Challenge Word (Maya Angelou)
Women's history didn't of its own accord become an area of study and interest. Women's history came into its own existence as women made gallant efforts to get into the mainstream history curriculum.
Preface In all honesty, my original intention was not to write a book of profiles, certainly not a series of books. My original intention when I began this project many years ago was to create a new, long standing magazine. Yes, the glossy, brightly colored, 8.5 x 11”, side-bar sprinkled, perfect bound adorner of coffee tables and welcome distracter at grocery stores. The multi-fonted beauties…

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Roderson
Tumblr media
Book Stats:
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(4/5)
Tropes: Fated MC, Enemies to Lovers
Publisher: Simon & Shuster
Review:
What do you get when you add a fated MC, Magical books and Demons?Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rodgerson. This book is definitely one of my favorite YA Reads this year.
The magic system you can tell had alot of thought to it, the romance gave me butterflies, and probably my favorite part of the whole book? THE BATTLE SCENES. They were written very well and weren’t overly long and complicated(which is one of my biggest complaints about fanasty books). This book also made me cry over something that I never thought I would get emotional over!
To be Honest, I don’t think I have any complaints about this book(Weird Right?) it was a really cute read that kept me a engaged the entire time(And kind of got me over my Anastasia book hangover) I would recommend this book to anybody who like the fanasty genre in general. The book is more magic, but it does have a small subplot of romance that is so cute!

"He held out his hand as he spoke, and I noticed that it was all mottled over with similar pieces of plaster, and discoloured with strong acids." "His hands were invariably blotted with ink and stained with chemicals, yet he was possessed of extraordinary delicacy of touch, as I frequently had occasion to observe when I watched him manipulating his fragile philosophical instruments."
There, you've just read the official descriptions of Sherlock's hands in the book Study in Scarlet. Since he is an "expert singlestick player, boxer, and swordsman" (as wrote by Watson like basically everything), I'm convinced his knuckles would be reddish or even scraped.
I felt the need to illustrate a part of his image that goes through my mind when I read 😌🌺.

The back of Discworld novels: wowee terry's whipped another wacky and wild adventure for us this time! there's so many silly shenanigans and witty wordplay in this book that you're sure to have a hilarious time!
Discword novels: a cynical alcoholic navigating and overcoming the pointlessness of his job, a transparent metaphor for racism and gun violence in the police system and in general, an intelligent young girl overcoming the ideas she's been taught by her culture and the media she consumes, just an entire novel made of commentary on war and gender, using talking animals as a way to explore what defines personhood and contrasting stories vs reality, an ex-convict coming to terms with the damage he's caused and fighting monopolies that are trying to do the same thing,

First in a trilogy, Hera: To Catch a Star, fantasy novel (with some sci-fi elements) coming 2023
The result of a forbidden romance between a goddess and a mortal, young Rynn has been kept safely hidden his entire life, though he does not know why. One day, the truth is made clear to him after he is rescued by a reserved stranger who makes it his mission to protect Rynn and the honor of the goddesses. But slowly Rynn begins to realize that there is more to this stranger than he first thought, and that merely because of his blood, the danger he is in is far greater than he could ever imagine.
Celestial goddesses, devoted priestesses, bold space pirates, and selfless but secretive outcasts make up the cast of Hera: To Catch a Star. For the plot, I tried to deviate from the typical storyline you see most in fantasy: “The Chosen One/Evil Empire/Prophecy Fulfillment” by taking such tropes and flipping them on their heads, in an effort to tell a story that’s a bit different. However, I do still believe that the classic fantasy story some often criticize can still be told and utilized in fresh, unique ways and I admire those who do so.
For To Catch a Star, I wanted to avoid the cliches as much as I could. Yes, there is an emperor—but he’s not evil and no one sees any reason to take him out. Yes, there is a “Chosen One”—but he’s not expected to fulfill any prophecy or be the harbinger of any radical change, and yes, there is a “Hero’s Journey”, although I’ve always viewed it more as a “Hero’s Escape.”
I hope this tidbit has intrigued you, and that it will inspire you to give To Catch a Star a read once it releases next year. (If not, at least show up for the gambling frogs and honey glazed rolls!)
