“Every man jack of them voted remain, and they are considerably more leftwing than those at any meeting of any political party. In the interests of sounding mature, I should probably pretend to think there are rightwing book festivals, which people attend to worship David Starkey or ask creepy questions of Niall Ferguson, but I don’t think that. If even the Cheltenham literature festival turns the town briefly into a people’s republic, I can’t think what town would host a Toryfest.”
“The audience absolutely hate being politically misidentified, and they spend those first 10 minutes desperately signalling, with spontaneous clapping and foot-stamping, to indicate that nobody hates the government more than they. So it’s like a panto, with an audience metaphorically shouting “He’s behind you,” but really meaning it – as if you might not know.”

Fuck book banning in 2024
It's the beginning of a new month so here is the link to 2024 Book Festivals again. My community just had our book festival in March and it was, as always, a wonderful success. But April is a busy month for book festivals - so take a look and try to find one near you to attend. Or maybe take a little road trip?
Remember, a great way to fight book banning is to celebrate books!

Do book festivals sell books? Here's my experience!
With two new books being published by Shanti Arts, and wondering how best to market them, I’ve been thinking about book festivals I’ve participated in. I realize that, while these events are great for focusing on the many book genres available, I also have concluded that I probably won’t attend one again. A few years ago, I signed up for the Bay Area Book Festival in Berkeley, a relatively new…

It's book festival time
One more day until the @writewomenpub Book Fest!! I'll be under the @MarylandRomance tent. Bringing all my books published by @champagnebooks. So looking forward to talking to readers again. Covid has kept us apart long enough!
This is part of the stuff that I have to bring to the festival.
Tomorrow is my first book festival since Covid canceled everything. I am joining ten writer-members of the Maryland Romance Writers under our very own tent at the Write Women Book Fest in Glenn Dale, Md. These are accomplished women from best-selling authors to undiscovered newbies who have written books everyone should read. If you…

The Bookmarks Festival of Books and Authors took place on September 24, 2022. My plans were to hear the following authors speak and/or obtain signed copies of their books: Samira…

Spring has arrived, and the warmer weather offers ways for people to gather again. Book festivals often appear, and I guess that’s why I’ve been thinking about ones I’ve participated in. I realize that, while these events are great for focusing on the many book genres available, I also have concluded that I probably won’t attend one again.
