The Bloody Chamber and other stories by Angela Carter
I was really excited about this collection of short stories, they were describe to me as dark retellings of fairytales, and that was enough to convince me. I will be honest I was overall disappointed, not because I expeced to read something different, they are indeed dark versions of well known fairytales. The problem is that although I really liked the eponymous story, The Bloody Chamber, the other stories were nearly as good. There were a couple of other more interesting stories like The Werewolf, but overall this collection didn't do much for me.
