TYK chapter 38 face reveal, how I see it now (above) versus how I saw it 7 months ago (below text) Funny how I now perceive wkx as... knowing, and having a lot of thoughts re:that face. It's exactly how it should have been, as the text says, and given the state of his feelings towards zzs at that point, I feel a much deeper connection towards this more wistful way of looking at him than the surprise I first drew. I think I used to take his "Did I ever tell you I liked men" joke kind of at face value before, and did perceive the scene as a 'incredible beauty revealed' moment (as shown by zzs' mysterious/almost sad aura in the previous version). Dare I say my initial interpretation of the scene now feels a bit cliché and obvious : 'oh wow the true beauty shows his face and wkx is so impressed/wowed by it'. In the newer version, there is more mutual understanding and complicity, which I am very happy with. I also like that zzs doesn't have this doll-like vibe anymore, too. He has agency over his image rather than being an aloof beauty to gawk at.

“I can’t do it with one hand.” He stood and leaned against the vanity, undoing his jeans with his good hand, then struggling to get them off. “I could use some help with this, too, if it’s not too much to ask.” 

“Sure,” I said. “Undressing men, I’m good at. Sewing people up, though, is questionable. Maybe the cut isn’t that bad.” 

I unwound the blood-soaked strips of Antonio’s shirt from Jeremy’s thigh. The skin and muscle parted like the Red Sea, an even more apt analogy considering the gush of blood that streamed out. I had no problem seeing Jeremy with his pants off, but this internal view was more than I wanted to see of anyone.
