💡 Book Review 📘 The Happiest Little Town ✒️ Barbara Hannay 🎭🎭🎭🎭 Isn't it just the cutest book cover!? And that title, I feel that I'm guaranteed an easy, light-hearted, and uplifting read which my mood tells me I need these days. It did not disappoint; The Happiest Little Town certainly made me happy. I find it always touching when 3 generations of women are brought together. I love to see the effect they have on each other. In this novel, the mix of Olivia's wisdom, Kate's generosity, and Tilly's grief made a lovely cocktail of lasting friendship. I am in Kate's age group so while I was rather frustrated with some of Tilly's decisions and actions, they are rather understandable considering her loss. I am in awe of Kate's heart and her generosity... it's not Tilly's fault that she is who she is but golly, Kate was just so very kind. While the story revolves our 3 main protagonists above. There were bits and pieces about other residents of this town that made it The Happiest Little Town. They may not be that relevant to the plot as such but they do make the town more 3-dimensional. And what's a town without its people? The Happiest Little Town's residents may not be happy aaallll the time as each of them have either had difficult pasts or are still struggling to come to terms with those pasts. However, they do know to pick themselves back up and let's just say it's a happy ending all around. Such a comfort read and truly, I just want to give this book a cuddle - that's how much I enjoyed it. Happy Thursday! For #thrillerthursday I have a wonderful time travel crime thriller by Kelley Armstrong called A Rip Through Time. It’s the first book in the series featuring a modern day detective who gets thrown back to Victorian Scotland. It’s a five star read for me and I highly recommend. So I was thinking, what if we get a superhuman called Superbook and this human being will get you books if you need one. It will not ask you for money if your financial condition is not good but if you’re rich then you’ll have to donate 1 dollar for each book it gives you. You can’t tell your parents about the books? Don’t worry it will have magical powers by which it will create a vault in your room which will have an invisible door that only you’ll have the access to , in this vault you can create your own reading adobe. If you’re on your periods then Superbook will get you those book smell candles. If you’re sad then Superbook will bring you the signed copy of the book that you wanted. Time is not a problem for Superbook. It doesn’t matter in what part of the world you are, Superbook will always find you. If you want to discuss your favourite book with someone then Superbook will be there for you. Superbook will be resistant to all the diseases so covid will not harm it and it will be there for you even in lockdown. But here’s a thing Superbook will only be visible to the real readers and not the people who try to look cool by holding a book in their hand and never read it.

💬 "I imagine it's always easier to do sundering monstrous if you can convince yourself you aren't going to, up to the last minutes, until you do." 🎉 Happy Publication Day 📙 The Golden Enclaves 📚 Lesson Three of The Scholomance ✒️ Naomi Novik 💥💥💥💣 A thrilling finale to this trilogy! After hearing all about the cliffhanger ending in book 2, The Last Graduate, I purposely held off reading it until a couple of weeks ago knowing book 3 is coming... I'm so glad I did! On the other hand, however, I was finding El completely frustrating and I thought maybe it's because I was reading them back to back. However, there is a particular thought/idea that I just didn't believe in but that I didn't realise the characters in this book fully believed until it was proven "wrong" just after halfway through. This is one reason why I was so confused and annoyed by El's actions! I had a completely different mindset than hers. It was all ok once we were all on the same page 😜 The Golden Enclaves is the thickest book in the trilogy but I found it very slow (and as per above, frustrating) for the first half. It just wasn't gripping me as the first book did. The last half was so much better with twist on twist and oh, the irony of El vs Orion from what we saw of them in book 1 to the reality we found them in now! And I do so love when everything is tied up neatly at the end. Can't wait to see what Novik will write next! My thanks to @penguinbooksaus for gifting me a copy of this book. Happy Tuesday and Happy Publication Day to Ordinary Monsters by J. M. Miro! . 📚 BookReview 📚 . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- Do you ever read a book that awes you so much that you struggle to find the words to adequately describe your reading experience? Ordinary Monsters is definitely one of those books for me. The world-building is phenomenal. The darkness is expertly conveyed in every aspect and every scene. It is pervasive and immersive and can be felt with all senses. It sets the stage for a flawed group of characters who have suffered at the hands of others yet whose resilience remains stubborn and strong. It also hides layers and layers of meaning and story that slowly come to light as you realize the story you've been reading is different than the actual story you've been reading. Magic is my favorite part of any fantasy tale that utilizes it. In this story, a child's talent reflects their very personality, and I absolutely adored that connection. The magic is unique, with roots in magic known to the reader. I love that the story takes tried and true magical abilities, infuses them with unique ones, and turns them all into something fresh and new. Ordinary Monsters is told in 3rd person omniscient narration. The prose is so rich and compelling that it is impossible to not read and savor each word. The suspense level remains high from the first page to the last, and the plot twists and turns with unexpected surprises and challenges. It is a riveting tale that I couldn't put down even when needed. . 📚 . Do you like listening to audio books during road trips? . 📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚 . A road trip is the only place I have had any success listening to audio books.
