For someone who doesn’t have and doesn’t want children, I sure do read a lot of intense parenting horror stories 😂.
After happening upon a children’s birthday party they weren’t invited to, Lola and Ian decide to have a baby as an attempt to reconnect with their old friends. While happy with their current lifestyle, they wonder if they are missing out on this experience.
When pregnancy and parenthood prove to be more difficult than expected, cracks start to form in the foundation of their relationship. Are they evil for not feeling a loving connection with their child? For missing the life before he came? Or is there something wrong with this seemingly perfect boy?
The character building in this story was incredible. Lola and Ian are charismatic and relatable (who hasn’t gone through an identity crisis, ha) and the tension of something being very wrong builds in a very propulsive way.
There is a supernatural element to the story that I personally could’ve used more of, but this book is brisk even though it’s over 400 pages.
If you want a creepy look at the extremes of parenthood I’d definitely recommend this one.
Thank you to Robert Ottonefor providing me with an arc of your book.

Devious Little Liars by Elle Thorpe @ 😈💞😈💞😈💞😈💞😈💞😈💞😈💞😈💞
📚 Signed special edition book from @
Review:🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Devious Little Liars scratched an inched l never knew l had.
It’s my first time reading “Why Choose.” l never thought it would be my cup of tea if not for a recommendation. I’m so glad l picked it up.
I was apprehensive going in as l did not know much about Polyamory. l felt the author told the story very well. As I’m used to one, not three male leads. l was pleasantly surprised by how it all went down.
The storytelling was compelling. I enjoyed Lacy's Stroy and how the author was able to weave in P.O.V of Banjo, Rafe and Colt's backstory so effortlessly, as it added to the plot while leaving me wanting more, especially at the end.
Devious Little Liars opened my eyes to a new world of romance. Now I’m looking forward to reading more reverse harem in the future.
He leaned back, his face showing a thoughtful expression. "In Bali, there are certain individuals who are blessed with the ability to speak to spirits,".
Chef and food writer Rajyasree Sen looks into the histories of some of these famous sweet recipes and speculates about the ancestry of others in her book The Sweet Kitchen: Tales and Recipes of India's Favourite Desserts. The book is a fascinating peek at the desserts we have consumed for numerous Diwali, Christmas, Eid, and Navroz celebrations by bringing together tales, historical documents, and recipes. The book highlights previously unnoticed details of Indian food, particularly desserts. An area's past, geography, and politics have geography, and politics of a place have all influenced its cuisine. The Sweet Kitchen does that very well. You can anticipate learning what links the Portuguese and chenna, Sandesh and the Bengal Renaissance, etc. @alephbookco @bookreviewscafe @brown_sahiba #books #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #food #booksaboutfood #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreader #bookrecommendations #bookrecommendation #booklover #bookreviewer #bookreviewers #bookreviewing #alephbookcompany #storizenmagazine https://www.instagram.com/p/CqqCegdPK1e/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I am finally back on track after a very long reading slump. When I started this book I knew it would not be the best choice to get rid of my slump but at the same time, I really wanted to read it. This would be my first self-growth book review and I am very excited to share it. Dale is truly an amazing writer and lecturer. His lessons are the type of lessons that will never get too old and that is why the book keeps selling and leaders continue to learn from it. ✨ I annotated a lot in this book as you can see in the photos as well. Some of his best quotes and references are: 🔴 ‘A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.’ 🔴 ’When two partners always agree, one of them is not necessarily.’ 🔴 ‘You can measure the size of a person by what makes him or her angry.’ Have you read this book? What are your thoughts about it? I’d love to hear more opinions. 😌 Link for my full review in bio ❤️ #cloudwrites . . . . . . . . #bookreview #bookreviews #bookreviewer #igbookreview #bookreviewers #bookreviewblog #bookreviewersofinstagram #minibookreview #picturebookreview #bookreviewblogger #audiobookreview #instabookreview #bookreviewing #bookreviewerswanted #yabookreview #newyorktimesbookreview #bookreviewsofinstagram #ebookreview #nytimesbookreview #30secondbookreview #bookreviewswanted #newbookreview #coffeeandbooks #bookstagrammer #books #bookstagram #booklover #bookloversalways #bookcommunity (at Bookstagram) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoP2Jvmrhcp/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Old Babes in the Wood, by Margaret Atwood
Margaret Atwood is known for her insightful observations on human nature. This book explores human connections in darkly funny, sad, and deeply moving short stories. This anthology will enthrall you regardless of your acquaintance with Atwood.
Birnam Wood, by Eleanor Catton
Mira Bunting leads a guerrilla gardening group that plants crops in unnoticed places. When a landslide blocks the Korowai Pass, Mira finds an abandoned farm in the town of Thorndike. This gets the attention of American billionaire Robert Lemoine, who wants to build his end-of-the-world bunker on the land. Mira and Birnam Wood team up with Lemoine, but trust issues arise as their ideologies are tested. The book is a psychological thriller that looks at the human need to stay alive.
Clytemnestra, by Constanza Casati
This text describes a retelling of the story of a queen who was born into royalty but married a tyrant. After experiencing tragedy and injustice, she begins to plot for vengeance. The story is about acceptance and getting even, and the main character is a strong woman who can be both good and bad. This retelling combines elements of the stories of Circe and Cersei Lannister, and offers a unique perspective on a well-known character from ancient history.
In Memorian, by Alice Winn
Step back in time to 1914, when World War I is raging on, and young men on both sides are being churned through the violence of the front. But for Henry Gaunt and Sidney Ellwood, life is idyllic at their English boarding school. Until news of heroic deaths start to make the war even more exciting. Henry, half German, is dealing with his own private battle - an all-consuming infatuation with his best friend Sidney. Little does he know, Sidney feels the same. When Henry's family asks him to enlist to avoid anti-German sentiment, he jumps at the chance to escape his overwhelming feelings for Sidney. But to his horror, Sidney joins him at the front, and their classmates soon follow. Now, death surrounds them, and no one knows who will be next. In Memoriam is a breathtaking debut that tells an epic tale of forbidden romance and the devastating tragedies of war.
Have you ever tried Aspic, or are you instantly grossed out by the idea of savory jellies? The gelatinous vessel of meats and vegetable. A sensory trick, as your brain overcomes the texture and flavour combination. Is this good? A thing I could like?
Motherthing is an acquired taste. A sublimely weird story of desire for connection as a survivor of parental abuse. It’s about being deeply, tragically lonely and sad sad sad. And the masks we slip on for a semblance of normalcy. The weight of synthetic happiness.
As a person who has no desire for motherhood, I wondered if this book would be for me. I can say that there definitely is a lot to enjoy even without that connection. Take your time with it and savour the jellied salmon.
Thank you to @netgalley and @vintagebooks for an arc of this title. Motherthing comes out September 27th.
“It all felt real, like it was within their grasp, if only they were brave enough to reach for it. It was vast and wild, a shining future where they were still together and no one could tear them apart” “Are you guys done? Yay for you and congrats on the sex, but Gibby says she could have gone the rest of her life without knowing Seth was a screamer.” “Oh my God,” Nick blurted, starting to panic all over again. “Jazz? Don’t come down here! Our penises are out!” Seth sighed deeply. Heat Wave-the third/final novel of the Extraordinary series. Once again, Nick-the energetic kid with ADHD and chaotic thoughts-made my days brighter. Gibby and Jazz really stepped up the action in this and I loved these two badass girls with all my heart. Gibby’s sarcasm when dealing with Nick is to die for-her smugness and his humor complement each other nicely (especially when he’s changing in front of her or hopping from roof to roof). And Jazz-deadly, but sweet-is not to be messed with. What she can do with a plastic fork is utterly scary, but awesome. And Nick and Seth’s relationship really developed from the first book. Seth is so patient with Nick and when they finally took that next step, it was beautiful and funny and messy. It’s so cool that Rebecca Firestone got a redemption arc-I always thought she was gonna be one of the kinda good ones secretly. I always appreciated the slow burn of these stories, how it shows Nick and his dynamic with each of his friends and family. In a way, the novels are fanfiction themselves. I’m going to miss these characters so freaking much. Nick, Seth, Gibby, Jazz, the parents, even Rebecca Firestone. They made me laugh and cry and smile throughout all three books and the chaos that surrounded them in and out of crime fighting was so ridiculous it was humorous.
