Adventures in Librarian-ing

I found another book that makes little kids lose their minds: Bad Dog by Mike Boldt.

I guarantee this one's a winner with the Littles.

It's especially A+ great for Kindergarteners (though entertaining for at least up to Grade 3 for sure), because it doesn't have a lot of text and they're super engaged with yelling at the girl that Rocky's NOT A DOG.

Shocked to see how little text there is today in young teen magazines

Does no one has reading skills and attention today anymore?

I remember that my young teen magazine during 2000s had four page long Reportages … with a lot of pictures sure, but still

The one I just picked up today is from one of German biggest, really respected newspaper

And no article is longer then half a page written in text size 14. dafuq?!

„Funny“ is that the magazine I used to read, also shortened texts heavily at end of the 2000s, this is why I stopped reading it. Now the texts are even shorter… I am honestly shocked

Review: The Snow Creatures

I really liked this book.

It would be great to read at Christmas.

The pictures are really cute and reminds me how much we need to look after our wildlife.

I think this would be a great story for all children to read.

The Blurb:

Joseph likes to feed the birds and animals in his garden, but he has been very poorly. It is the middle of winter and he has not gone outside into the cold for a week. The feeders and trays are all empty and bare.

The animals must tell Joseph they are hungry. They have another message for him, too, but animals cannot talk! Can they think of a very special way of telling him?

when i saw this video i just about died. i LOVED these books so so so SO bad when i was a little girl. dork diaries was like my favorite series in the entire world. and i always assumed, bc the way she was drawn i guess, that nikki was white. so to find out that not only that these books were written by a black woman, but nikki herself is black??!! OMGGGG. little me would’ve fell apart at the seams knowing that. this almost makes me wanna read them again so i can see nikki through this new, black girl lens!!! AHHHHHH. this is a win for black girls everywhere like wowwwww
