How does your Courier find out his first name? Do they?

Mine knows about the letter to Carla and guesses he might have signed it with his first name, but in her one respectful move ever she doesn’t steal and read it, even though she’s desperate to know (and he refuses to tell). She only learns his name when Arcade tells her, and he got it off Manny.

But she still just calls him Booney, which she’d started calling him (to his mock displeasure) not long after they met.

I think Boone blames Manny for having to have killed Carla, and I think he knows it's totally unreasonable - that Boone & Manny couldn't have done any more together than Boone could have alone - but he just has so much esteem for Manny that it doesn't feel that way. Boone's confession is entirely heartbreaking but the bit I hate worst is "I just had my rifle with me. Just me, against all of them" and how small he sounds.

It's not that he wished he was there with NCR forces to liberate not only Carla but the other slaves, though I'm sure there's an element of that. It wasn't really an option, though. But Manny was an option. He went to Manny to ask for help and then this man who's always had his back, who was probably his other half in just as meaningful a way as his wife was, betrayed him.

If Manny hadn't reacted that way, and had gone with Boone, their odds wouldn't have been any better, and it would have ended the same way. Boone still would have wanted to do it himself. So nothing would have really changed. Only that Manny would have been there to help him, on the worst day of Boone's life.

Instead, Boone had to go to Cottonwood Cove, and back, and back to his job, wondering if Manny had actually been the one to betray Carla, too... and even when he finds out this wasn't true (a stranger had to tell him - he had to tell a stranger all this - because his best friend and partner had betrayed him) he can't forgive him. Because he was still responsible. He was responsible for Boone being alone.

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that your Booneposting always made/makes my day. He looked sooooo much like my big guy that we said goodbye to a few years ago and I'm so sorry he went so quickly.

He touched a lot of people's hearts and had an outsized impact for a guy who just wanted to laze around! He will be remembered by thousands of people who saw him through your eyes, lensed through your love. I think that's something really special.

Thank you for sharing him with us! I wish you healing and comfort.
