I think tumblr is better at talking about the severity of Covid than a lot of platforms, but the posts I see on here do a terrible job at highlighting that you can do everything right and *still get it*. And I don't say that to be a pessimist, but because it can be incredibly invalidating for people who have been masking, up-to-date on boosters, etc. and got Covid bc even though we did everything we could, it still feels like our fault that we had it. So if that describes your experiences with Covid I just wanna say I see you, I feel you, and you are not alone

I have COVID and I'm mostly just exhausted with congestion but jfc the paxlovid taste I forgot how awful it is TBH I've been sucking on gum all day but I swear it's getting less effective?

Following on my previous reblog, and I know I've said this before:

In the last few years I've been really radicalized against this "if it's not fatal why bother preventing it" mentality that seems EVERYWHERE in American life. (Probably other places too, I'm American so I can only speak to the American experience.)

Like, a cold generally won't kill most people, but it still sucks to get one. And we just kinda shrug and go "oh well, it's the winter, I will probably get a cold at some point" instead of, like, wearing masks? I WISH I could go back in time and hand myself a package of KN95s before my first holiday season working retail.

Same with the flu! In addition to the very true and important argument that the flu WILL kill people, dammit, the flu also just sucks! Get a flu shot!

I'm still masking pretty much everywhere outside my bubble, and even if any of that changes years down the line, I can't imagine EVER not masking inside a Target at Christmas ever again. And I really resent this cultural norm that it's somehow "weird" to just...not want to get sick.

i am soo scared that one of my actors has covid and bc it was a small rehearsal and i’m only half unpacked from college i didn’t even have a mask that i could wear for the second half in this bag anddd. Probably she is fine and is just worn out and having allergies but also i am also not feeling Great (likely for the same reasons!) but um. really fucking nervous

"new covid shot" has been on the to do list for an age and i've been failing to cross it off due to cowardice (terrifying ordeal of returning to the local health center) and lack of information (had no idea if they were giving out a new one around here) but i finally went down there today to get one and yes, they are available, but although the center is open until 6pm I apparently need to come back around 4 tomorrow. which means leaving work early but that's fine. i've been using my sick time much more liberally this year lol last year i barely touched it.

anyway. I was wondering

Have people been having side effects from the latest one? I genuinely don't remember if it was the first or second one that had me in bed with a fever all the next day, but I haven't had side effects other than that.
