Origami King: No Equip Challenge

Alright, I've finally finished all of Paper Mario: The Origami King No Equip Run, and here's what it's all about.

Rules: No equipping any armor upgrade and badges. All items are allowed, but no help from Toads (note: no Toads is optional. I did it for further challenge)

This run is mostly doable (we'll get to the one part later), with the biggest hurtle against you being how long the battles will be post Earth Vellumental due to the base attack being so low (it maxes to 24 for boots and 28 for hammer). The Hearts scattered across the game will be mandatory to survive (especially for Green Streamer and Origami Castle), as well as a decent stock of all battle items (Fire and Ice flowers, Tails, the shiny variants, and the POW Block).

Here's all the enemies you cannot one-shot after maxing out (hammer and boot attack only):

Hammer, Fire, Ice, Boomerang, Sledge and Sumo Bros., Piranha and Ptooie Plants, all Spike variants, Chargin' Chucks, Bone Goomba, Crowber, Spike Top, Grass Ninji, Stingby, Rocky Wrench, all Cutout Soldiers, and Blooper

Here's the boss guide:

Earth Vellumental: Easiest boss due to it being a tutorial (also equippables have not been fully introduced yet so we're fine here).

Colored Pencils: Another relatively easy boss. The battle isn't terribly affected by not having anything equipped.

Water Vellumental: This boss is where you start to feel not having anything equppied, with draining it's HP taking longer than an average playthrough, but other than that it isn't terrible.

Rubber Band: Not affected by the run due to only using 1000-Fold Arms.

Fire Vellumental: The biggest waiting game in the run. Wait until it has about 1/4 of its HP before using the Water Vellumental and 1000-Fold.

Hole Punch: Another boss where it simply takes a lot longer than normal to finish it due to dealing less damage.

Ice Vellumental: Not terrible since the boss is mostly puzzle based.

Tape: Surprisingly the first phase was the hardest due to it taking 3-4 hits to get rid of just one part of the dispenser. Second phase easy since it's just magic circle shenanigans.

Boss Sumo Bros.: Painfully long (I think this fight took me the longest). Since the little Sumo Bros. have 45 HP each, it takes multiple hits to take the ones you need out.

Handaconda: Not affected since it's just Rock-Paper-Scissors.

Scissors: This was probably the second longest fight since I got killed and had to face it again, but it is doable.

Stapler: Not affected by the challenge, so it's easy.

King Olly: Also not affected by the run since all phases do not use the attack command.

All in all, a long but fun challenge! So long as you're good with puzzles, I would say do this challenge (minus the Fire Vellumental, I'm going to throw that chicken into the sea).

Ranking the bosses of Origami King

I have stated many many MANY times that Origami King is my favorite Paper Mario, hell, one of my favorite games of all time. And if some lunatic waltzes into my house and gives me a choice of either liking TTYD or die, I’d rather be dead. But what’s the worst and best boss in the game? Today, we’re gonna rank all the bosses in Origami King. Also, it is recommended that you finish the game to view this post, cause this is a spoiler zone.

17. The Shifty Sticker, Tape

The most annoying and unfun boss to cap off a great tribute to Wind Waker fans, all the positives Tape got was having a bopping as hell music and a really great 1st phase. But that’s where the positives end, cause the 2nd phase is where it all goes downhill. Tape glues parts of the ring meaning you can’t slide panels and some parts of the rings are connected together. And when a lot of tapes are in the ring at once, it’s pretty annoying. And this may just be me, but when there’s too much tape in the arena, Tape straight up gobbles up the tape in the arena to restore HP and it is annoying as fudge. Oh and did I mention that to damage this boss, you’re forced to use the 1000 fold arms? And did I mention that any other form of offense is next to useless? Needless to say, this is one of the worst bosses I’ve had the pain to endure.

16. The Freezing Finisher, Ice Vellumental

The first phase of Snowy The Bear over here is surrounded by an icy forcefield and you must use the Fire Vellumental to melt down his barrier which is, pretty alright for a first phase (I mean your sliding is not locked this time so that’s a plus), but then, there’s Ice Maze to make up for all that fun. For those of you unknowing fools out there, Ice Maze is an ability of this guy where large parts of the arena are covered in ice, and the only way to get through it is find a way to the Action Panel or an active Fire Vellumental Magic Circle without being frozen so you (kinda) won’t have to endure his greatest attack, Ice Age. Problem is, that even for me, who has a strong memory, I can’t seem to solve it. Why this is less dreaded than Tape for me despite the monotony is that you can kinda cheese it without Fire Vellumental. By collecting coins, you can stock on Shiny Fire Flowers and basically fireball this boss to death (and they said coins are useless). Even so fuck this fight man.

15. The Blazing Bird, Fire Vellumental

This phoenix right here is possibly the smartest of the Vellumentals. Why is that, you ask? Easy. He lets you damage yourself. Using his special move, Hot Wings, he basically spreads his own wings (which takes a chunk of his health) and lets you damage yourself until you reach an Action Panel. Once you’re in the Action Panel, use your Iron Boots and jump the shit outta him until his feathers are all/almost gone. Then, use Water Vellumental to shower it to its doom, and lastly, for the coup de grace, pull off his hair and humiliate him in front of a bunch of Toads. The only reason this chicken wing is higher is because jumping him with Iron Boots is as fun, if not more fun than using the Fireballs to cheese the Ice Vellumental.

14. The Apocalyptic Abomination, Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle

By far the most gruesome thing in Paper Mario franchise, it starts off with you hammering the Dry Bone heads it spews out using Kamek’s magic. Then, after enough heads were smashed, Kamek reveals himself and you have to pull him outta the beetle’s nose which is more satisfying than it should be. And then after that, you smash him in the gut 4 times to win. Needless to say, it had its moments.

13. The Elastic Entertainer, Rubber Band

4 numbers later and we are back to the Legion Of Stationary. This time, it’s Rubber Band. While I can see why people like this boss, keep in mind I’m doing all these on a no Game Over run, which makes the boss less fun for me. The Bumper Bands are a mere nuisance, but get caught in Rubber Bind and kiss your health goodbye. Solo Snapback isn’t much better either, for that attack, pray you have a 1 Up left or at the very least can endure that attack or say goodbye to your health. However, despite doing this on a no Game Over run is hell, why is it this high though? you may ask, well, simply put, the Rubber Bands are better projectiles than the Hot Wings, Icicles, and Tape combined.

12. The Chaotic Cactus, Mega Paper Macho Pokey

Tower Power Pokey is back, but this time, he’s made some changes to the battlefield. Now, instead of fighting in some egyptian temple, you fight him inside of a tornado. This segmented spiky monstrosity has 3 attacks. Creating tornadoes, stalking you from underground, and trying to squash you with its body. This time, to defeat him, instead of using some Baseball Bat sticker bullshit, you must wait until his glow fades and approach him with the Boot Car so you can deliver the smackdown. And, pro tip : if I were you, I wouldn’t get caught in the twisters.

11. The Groundshaking Gut-Slammer, Earth Vellumental

God to all Koopas, the Earth Vellumental is pretty fun for a tutorial boss. You use your hammers to smash its limbs till eventually you hit its tender tail, and it’s more fun than it had any right to be. Once the tail is pounded to perfection, flip it with your 1000 fold arms and smack the living daylights out of it.

10. The Trial Of Toughness, Scuffle Island Boss Rush

An optional boss accessible in Chapter 4, the Scuffle Island Boss Rush is fun for a miniboss rush. You get 7 tough Paper Macho opponents ; Goomba, Shy Guy, Koopa, Boo, Paratroopa, Stone Spike, and Buzzy Beetle, each bearing 2 more hitpoints than the ordinary Paper Macho enemies and having a large attack boost. It’s a test of learning the patterns of the Paper Machos and is way more fun than it has any right to be. Although the Paratroopa did gave me some troubles, like, seriously, if you beat this guy’s 1st phase without a guide, you’re a pro.

9. The Stormy Guardian, Boss Sumo Bro

A clever reference to NSMBU and Super Mario World, Boss Sumo Bro stands on his mighty thundercloud at first, until you take out his goonies. Then, once you’re done with his goons, he’ll charge up his unblockable Mega Thunder attack and to stop it, you must use the Fire Vellumental to take him down. It’s admittedly pretty fun.

8. The Missile Maestro, Colored Pencils

One of the most fun tutorial bosses, Colored Pencils has a simple but really fun 1st phase. You have to close its lid to pull off a Fire Vellumental, and on the 2nd phase, it gets better. You have to use his Rainbow Roll against him and smack the living daylights out of him. It’s a great boss, buut problem is, it’s a tutorial boss. It had not much of a chance to make it to the top 5.

7. The Final Destination, Paper Plane Strike Force

This game consists of you shooting a bunch of Bob Ombs to pave the way to the final level of the game Origami Castle, which is, much sadder than it may seem. It’s fun as heck shooting down the paper planes, and the Squadron where you have to shoot like a million Bob Ombs to its face is by far personally the most fun part of the game. Why it’s this low is that it’s one of the 2 non-rematchable bosses. Once you’ve gotten to Origami Castle, this minigame won’t be accessible anymore.

6. The Submarine Sinker, Water Vellumental

This overhydrated water dragon is one of the more strategic bosses. You must take note of the water twisters and prevent them from getting in your way of making it to the Action panel to jump him and hit him with the hammer. And then, once he’s gonna blow, make your way to the Earth Vellumental Magic Circle to dodge his Mega Wave attack, which is pretty powerful. It’s personally one of the more fun bosses this game had to offer. It’s not in the top 5 since the water twisters can be pretty annoying though I never had a problem with them personally.

5. The Disco Devil, Hole Punch

The groovy lobotomiser’s 1st phase is pretty annoying, you have to find his tender spot to deal decent damage to him, while having a reduction in health, but slamming the ever loving shit outta him when he tried to pull off his special attack is fun as hell. It makes up for the horrid 1st phase. And pulling off the rubber case as the finisher is waaayyy more fun than it needs to be. Also the music is a freaking jam.

4. The Tentacley Terror, Paper Macho Gooper Blooper

This Mario Sunshine nostalgia fest is hella fun. The 1st phase has you hammering his tentacles which is way more fun than it should be, and the 2nd phase has you hammering his eye, which is, again, way more fun than it should be. This boss is just really, REALLY fun.

3. The Dual Bladed Duelist, Scissors

One of the harder and more intense bosses, Scissors’ first phase is putting on a case for his blades for the sake of a fair fight, but once that’s done, it’s all intense, bloodpumping action from here. Scissors will use his unblockable special attack, Final Cut, and you must time your jumps to prevent an instant KO. I felt a strong urge of satisfaction when jumping over Scissors’ special attack countless times, it’s not even a laughing matter.

2. The Roshamboa, Handaconda

The first phase has you hammering him to get Olivia out of its grasp, and then, the 2nd phase is where the true fun begins. The Magic Circles are swapped with panels with images of Rock, Paper and Scissors and you must observe his hand patterns to get a chance to rush attack him with the 1000 fold arms. It feels so satisfying when you beat him in Roshambo and smash the living daylights out of him.

1. The Royal Rebel, King Olly

One of the best final bosses of all time, Olly is a culmination of what you have learned throughout your journey. The 1st phase consist of you retracing the weaknesses of the Vellumentals and using it against them, the 2nd phase consists of you slamming the ground to give Origami Bowser a helping hand in dealing the semi finishing blow towards Duraludon Olly, and the final phase has you fixing a jumbled up Giant Magic Circle while Olly bombards you with attacks that lead to quicktime events that are way more fun and dramatic than they had any right to be. Needless to say, Olly is the best boss in the Origami King.

Handaconda Creepypasta Because you asked for it.

smh smh I can’t believe yall really just did the 69 note thing- THANK YOU- but I- /lhlhlh. Still mad I missed the event. Anyways take this and go.

I hooked up my Nintento Switch to my tv and inserted my brand new Paper Mario: The Origami King cartrage. I had recently bought it at a garage sale that my family went to a few weeks ago. I really wanted it because I heard it was a good game and I couldn’t have bought it at retail price. I felt like there was something off about the packaging, but I couldn’t care less because i got what I wanted.

Now that school was over I decided to finally test the game out. Putting it in and turning on the thing and taking out my controllers revealed to be the beginning main title screen of Origami King! It first started with Olivia doing the folding thing and the view of the castle and game logo shown. But something felt off. The music and sound effects sounded a bit strange and the colors were less bright. I passed it off as a glitch and continued playing.

The game played normally, mario went to peaches castle with luigi and the place was empty. The entire prologue of the game felt pretty normal, nothing strange or unusual at all. Then when Olly threw me out of the castle and started the true gameplay, something felt off.

There were a few glitches mario getting stuck on stuff and being hard to control and olivia saying some weird messages mixed in with ther normal dialouge like “come”, “help”, and “us”. It was very weird, but I just thought it was some sort of localization mix up or the game getting beat up from being previously owned by someone.

Now that I think of it, when I went to pay for the game, the guy at the table seemed concerned when I handed him the game. He said “You;re gettting that game?!” after I handed him the money, which was strange, but he was probably just a pmtok hater.

Anyways I played for what felt like huurs, getting past the red streamer really fast (who’s boss had a orange pencil for some reasone even thoght I tought there wasn’t supposed to be)

But the weird thing was: as the game went on, it got glitier and glitier, mario being almost impossible to control, olivia saying weird and mixed up things, the battles were almost impossible, it was really weird. But I kept playing because I REALLY wanted to see the ending I loved the game so much.

Eventually, at 3 am, I managed to get past the sumo boss bros and into bowser’s castle. I know I was supposed to go to bed, but I really wanted to finish the game and know what happenes.

For some reason my health increased to 666 hp even though before it was only 200. Oh well having a health boost was good.

The castle was messed up. Paper scrapes of paper folk were eveerywhere and sprinkled around, there were these big and creepy paper cutout dolls that moved around the rooms that i had to avoid because otherwise I would get a game over and my game would crash.

At last, I made my way to the hallway where I should be expecting the next boss: Handaconda. But it wasn’t there. Everything went quiet and scary, I didn’t know what do do. Suddenly, the handaconda popped out of nowhere and grabbed me! The boss battle started and I wasn’t ready.

I tried to attack it, but nothing seemed to work. The game was acting super glitchy as I could barly use any attacks or move around. Then, the handaconda made its move. its flat, twisted and snake-like body raised it’s middle finger and flipped mario off, comeing out of the screen and flipping me off too. Then I died instantly

Her stand Panic at the Disco allows her to cast illusions on anyone struck by the stands beams of light causing them to belive fictional characters are coming to life.

Ribelli Brando - 10,000 lbs, Mother of Rikiel and one of Dio’s many partners who managed to escape being drained by the vampire. She currently runs a farm in the outskirts of Morioh and is trying to live a simple life and move on from her troubled past. Her stand “let me go home” gives her the ability to control and communicate with animals.

BnHA Chapter 278: MOMO IN CHARGE

Previously on BnHA: Deku and Kacchan were all “SIR, THAT’S OUR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT SENSEI” and got really ferocious and made a very passionate attempt to blow Tomura up and it was great. It basically did nothing, but it was still great. AFO was all “COME HERE LIL BRO”, and Tomura was all “silly Sensei, you can’t just take over my mind and body just like that”, and he was very confident of this despite there really being no evidence to back it up, but okay! Gran was all “time to make the fandom mad at me” and grabbed Tomura by the collar and yelled at him about Nana a bit, and then Bakugou and Endeavor made an even MORE passionate attempt to blow up Tomura, which may or may not have done some actual damage. The chapter ended with Gigantomachia battling Mt. Lady, just kinda out of the blue, which is FINE, but she had better be all right, though!

Today on BnHA: Everyone is all “WAUGHH IT’S GIGANTOMACHIA” and running around freaking out about it. The U.A. alums all kick some ass, and pretty much everyone else not from U.A. does jack fucking shit. Mt. Lady, who I plan on naming all of my future children after, does her best to stop Machia but he keeps flinging her aside. Kamui Woods is all “here I come with Midnight to put Gigantomachia to sleep!” and is PROMPTLY FUCKING MURDERED!? by Dabi because he’s a flammable tree man, and so Midnight falls all the way to the ground and is badly injured. So then she’s all “well I better call the most competent person I can think of to fix this mess” and dials up YAOYOROZU FUCKING MOMO, who proceeds to take charge LIKE THE BOSS SHE IS, and mobilizes the rest of the kids. And honestly I have more faith in them than in any of the adults at this point, so yeah, you know what? Let’s do this.

so I am possibly a bit spoiled on this chapter because I did a “top five predictions” post earlier this week, and someone replied to that yesterday on Thursday saying that they were mostly correct. I don’t know exactly how close to the mark I was though, and in any case most of the predictions were just “so-and-so shows up, probably”, so it’s not too bad. we’ll see how it goes!

I mean, CLEARLY they’re all about to be in horrible danger, seeing as Jirou is about to inform them of the whole “THE BIG GUY EVERYONE WAS AFRAID ABOUT WAKING UP WOKE UP” thing, but in the meantime at least Kami and Toadette and Honenuki made it back to the group safely

also Kaminari’s use of “Jirou-Jack” here is fucking inspired and I want him to teach a class on nicknames. isn’t he the one who coined “Yaomomo” as well? this boy has a gift and it needs to be appreciated

Lady though. like can you imagine growing up with this super-destructive quirk, and managing to become a hero with it against all odds, and having to put up with the manga making fun of you all the time just because sometimes you have a tendency to DESTROY A LOT OF STUFF, but it’s not like you can help it!! but the upside has always been that when your quirk is on, you are fucking UNSTOPPABLE though. so even though it’s been a hell of a rough ride for you, it’s worth it because you’re a complete badass and the number of people who can beat you out in terms of sheer physical strength is probably in the single digits. and you’re working really hard too, and lately you’ve been moving up through the ranks and actually becoming a damn fine hero if I do say so myself (and I do), and it’s like, about time though?? like finally, finally it is all starting to come together for you. and then this snarling trashrock person suddenly comes stampeding along and you put your all into trying to stop him, and it doesn’t even do a damn thing. like, holy shit. that’s just not fucking fair and YOU DESERVE BETTER, MT. LADY

anyway so she’s still hanging in there for now though so let’s check in with our villain squad riding on his back

PMTOK Horror AU: Boss Fights (Bowser’s castle)

How the Sumo Bros, Handaconda, and Scissors’ fights translate in the Horror AU. (Note: Should I also write a post on how the Papier Macho Boss fights would translate?)

ENSLAVED LIGHTNING VELLUMENTAL (Sumo Bros)

The Lightning Vellumental’s physical form is a wolf. To represent the fact that it’s been enslaved, it’s also wrapped in an Origami Chain made out of yellow and purple paper. It’s surrounded by a constant field of electricity, and regularly sets it off. You have to bait it into following you, before using the power of the Earth Vellumental to disperse it’s electricity, and then use the Fire Vellumental while it’s trying to just fucking maul you to destroy it’s chains.

HANDACONDA

First phase: You have to navigate a room with a sleeping Handaconda in it, using stealth exclusively. Attempting to attack Handaconda will result in a non-standard game over. Olivia is tied up within it’s coils, and the next phase starts once you’ve freed her, and Handaconda wakes up.

Second phase: This actually proceeds like in canon: Handaconda defies you to a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors. Whoever wins the round gets to lay it on the other. You have to win three times before Handaconda slithers away and back to it’s master, terrified.

SUZU (Scissors)

First phase: Suzu is just playing with their food right now. You have to use stealth in order to avoid them and Handaconda, who serves as a second pair of eyes and ears. You have to find a spot where you can safely use the Water Vellumental’s power, flooding the room. This takes away a good chunk out of Suzu, and kills Handaconda... and the remains of Suzu’s sanity with it.

Second phase: All semblances of sanity or self-control lost, Suzu starts attacking you with no respite, the only thing able to slow them down being themselves charging an attack. It will destroy the hiding places with it’s blade-like legs, fly up if you try to use altitude to escape them, and just generally chase you around until you get exhausted. So don’t even try to escape them. Just put some distance, dodge their attacks, and wait for them to get exhausted. Start drawing the Ice Vellumental’s circle, start running again when they catch their breath. Rinse and repeat until you’ve drawn the full circle. Activate the circle, freeze them on the spot, and use the Thousand-Fold arms to beat the utter crap out of them.

The Origami King Review/Opinion

(I sorta hate that it has the word The in it cause when I did impressions or this review, it sounds strangely official)

I’m gonna review but if people don’t want spoilers here’s some Pros and Cons that I felt

Pros:

+ Music is fantastic! I love how the battle theme changes with every area/sub-area you go to.

+ Writing is good, it gets you invested in enough to sorta care. Humor is top notch as expected!

+ Olivia is a sweetheart! I love her so much and how she’s so marveled by everything.

+ Boss Battles are fun to figure and deal with.

+ Finding Toads is actually kinda fun, I enjoy figuring out where they’re hidden

+ Badge system is intriguing if not a bit clunkly put together (sorry, this is suppose to be Pros)

Cons:

- Regular Battles get old quick if puzzles aren’t really your thing and its a bit too easy to just not depend on the coins, thus making them pointless.

- Story sorta flops, it starts strong but then just sorta fizzles and all we got left is... fun experiences (I know this sounds like a Con, but while the experiences are fun, it is disappointing the story sorta flops hard)

- Character Design is very meh. The most well written character can’t save it from its extremely generic design

- But also Olly is not... that well written... so...

- Partners and Vellumentals are kinda under utilized to a disappointing degree (baby steps, baby steps ugh)

Anywho, that’s all my feelings (that I can remember and feel I can say without spoilers)

Hello and welcome to the Spoiler Bits of this Review/Opinion

Buckle in, this is a long one

Now y’all may be a bit curious as to why, with so much big things (music/writing/bosses/Olivia) being good and so little being bad, why a 6.5/10?

Well, I felt a 7 was too generous and would make people think “Oh, its good!” but a 6 is like “Eh... its mediocre” and a 6.5 is more like a “Its Good, But” and I feel that But is important! I know how this may sound, but TOK could’ve been WAY better and Chapter 2 was an example of how good this game could’ve been!

You know how people always bring up Huey, or the “Morton Leston” joke, or the “I would do things that would raise this game’s rating” line as examples as why Color Splash is actually really good and we’re all in denial?

I feel Chapter 2 will be that for TOK and its all because of Bobby! I like Bobby, I like Bobby a lot! I wish he stuck around! I loved how he and Olivia interacted together and how they formed a bond!

But

I sorta hated how overall useless he was to the action and adventuring. He’s the most useless partner that somehow leaves a deep impression on the player!

He leaves such a deep impression that I don’t think anyone noticed how badly written Professor Toad was! He was such a let down as a follow up to Bobby! And worst of all, he was like way more useful than Bobby! He can dig holes, he can wipe out a whole role of enemies, he has a function outside of battle and story.

Seeing how useful Professor Toad was, sorta put into perspective Bobby and his eventual sacrifice to save Olivia (I told ya this was spoilers). He just dies, in a shockingly emotional moment, giving a speech about how Bomb-Ombs live relatively short lives and are always trying to make the most of it.

Wow... I really wish Chapter 6 didn’t have a segment where you were half hazardly shooting bomb-ombs out of a cannon, cause otherwise, this could’ve been way more impactful!

But it also made it seem like "we can't make Bobby too useful, he's gonna die. So just keep him extremely simple and useless in every other aspect of the adventure, besides story."

I don’t get how TOK started out so strong! The intro and Chapter 1 introduced us to the basic loop how what we’d have to do and how stuff will play out and Chapter 2 took that and showed us how far we could go with this loop and how involved the world will be with this loop!

Only for Chapter 3 to just give up on everything and give us 1 expansive dessert to explore, a very one note partner who doesn’t leave a lasting impression, a boring quest of solving an ancient riddle and a very annoying boss dungeon segment that went on longer than it should’ve! And above all else, a very half-assed excuse for why he won’t be joining your journey! Especially since Chapter 4 doesn’t have a partner!

Chapter 4 feels like an overly-long intermission of Mario n Olivia’s adventure to Chapter 5. Legit the purple streamer of 4 could’ve been the green streamer of 5 and it would only flow just a little bit less smoothly. Chapter 4 has this weird send off to the Vellumentals, with the boss dungeon being a mixture of the last 4 Vellumental chambers you’ve explored. Which feels out of place especially since there’s like 2 more chapters of stuff happening afterwards! And like a thunder elemental like boss fight in 5 but I guess they just couldn’t be bothered to create a Thunder Vellumental fight to tack onto the story and just gave it to this Origami Sumo Bro! Okay!

And then the Bowser Castle segment is right when they decide to get creative with enemy encounters, but only 2 enemy encounters (you can fight these two multiple time if you’re neither a chicken nor annoyed with the battle ring system) but then just stop right after cause Scissor makes cut out soldiers was the only excuse why that happened.

Again... I like TOK, I do. If I didn't, I'd rate it a 4 or 5 outta 10. I'll talk about the good, I will, but lemme just rant about 1 thing first! Its actually 2 rants but its gonna be about 1 topic I'm rather passionate about.

Character Design

I hate how generic the Legion of Stationery are! Once again, Chapter 2 wins by giving Rubber Band a very unique design, but everyone else is so generic looking! Remember how I said the personalities couldn't save them from their generic design? The Legion have such fun personalities, its so tacky and fun! But I cannot get over how it contrasts with the fact I'm staring at an object hoping in place or wiggling or jiggling as they talk! It kinda sucks, honestly!

I wish these guys had more creativity behind them, and truth be told it wouldn't have bothered me had Rubber Band not been an outlier! Why them and not everyone else! Its baffling!

But above all else, the worst offender, is the Origami Craftsman! The dude who folded Olly! Is a TOAD! That's it! A toad in an apron! WHY

And I get it, there's story reason behind it! Olly wants all Toads gone cause they all look alike and thus everyone reminds him of the Craftsman who wrote (a very touching message) on him!

And that SUCKS!

(uh oh, i forgot about Olly and his terrible terrible motive to be evil)

Speaking of Olly! Remember when I said he wasn't well written? Well besides being an evil prick who enjoys messing with the heroes (i dont mind that, evil just to be evil is fine), it sorta randomly just comes up that he hates Toads near the end! It just comes up!

And I THINK it was suppose to be hinted at by the fact all the Toads gets attacked and folded by Paper Macho and Folded Soldiers. But my problem with this is:

1. Would they have been daring as making Folded Toads as enemies? Thus the lack of Folded Toad enemies should've hinted at this

2. The enemies were origami version of Mario enemies! So enemies still being enemies but folded would've just strengthen the fact we'd be fighting bowser minions again, making the previous Toad hint moot.

3. Toads have always been in peril in previous PM games so the fact they're in peril again wouldn't have been a point of interest!

I GUESS the fact Folded Peach specifically asks whether Toads should be silenced could've hinted at this, but people just took it as "hah lol Toads annoying" and not "oh, this villain has a thing against toads~". Its just, who else would the villain have pointed out? There's only Toads here! Maybe if there was a bigger variety of npcs and we saw other npcs either becomes folded soldiers or be spared from the folded attack, we could've wondered "hey, why are only the toads getting stuck in places?"

But we don't!

Anyways, huff! Lemme count all the good, spoilery things in the game (that's not in Chapter 2) to end on a good note

I love how Olivia is so sweet, no one could bring themselves to be mean to her (except Olly), even Kamek has a hard time being mean cause she's so bubbly and caring (except for that weird bit in the forest where Kamek had to be all rivalry about it but I digress)

Bowser backtalking Olly was very funny, I loved it a lot!

The fact Olivia asks Olly to come to his senses before Mario smashed his face with the Olivia hammer (i need to specify this cause otherwise it'll look like Mario interrupted this scene with a hammer smash but no, Olivia fully knew her hammer weight was gonna fall on Olly's face and just gave some last words of pleas before not even letting him respond) I loved that.

I liked how sweet Olivia was to Luigi despite how much he kept screwing up (i forgot to rant about that but tl;dr, he's a bit of a buffoon and its a bit annoying) i thought it was very touching how Olivia kept rooting for him regardless.

The Tape talking like a Gangster was actually really funny, I liked that a lot.

Bowser's pep talk to Olivia was very funny, it was basically "dont be sad, look at me, my muscles are massive and I can punch through walls!"

As jarring as they were, I actually liked a lot of the singing and dancing that occurred through the game.

Olly having his own color scheme for his Vellumental forms was super cool!

The ending was really touching. Olivia wished for all of Olly's creations to be undone, and because you find out in Chapter 4 that she's also a creation of Olly, she is undone too. And they don't spell that out! You just find out she's not around and connect the dots. I think that was very well done.

And these are some of several reasons I liked TOK and why I couldn't rate it lower than 6. It has a lot of things that just doesn't live up to Chapter 2 and its disappointing to realize halfway through that the game peaked in Chapter 2. Its so weird, they showed us how good it can be and then never lives up to the expectationd set by Chapter 2. I wish it did

Thats why I rate it a 6.5/10

Hey pumpkin! This post regroups all the fics I wrote/am writing for the Detroit: Become Human fandom, please enjoy!

Huge story (objective: >100k words): - Good morning, Lieutenant: immediately follows the events of the Post-Pacifist Best Ending, features the Jericrew, the DPD and the RK brothers, mostly Connor-centric with endgame RK1K (very very slow burn, they're still not together by the end of Vol. 1). (Vol. 1) The Defective Deviant (angst, whump, hurt/comfort - a LOT of characters, Connor/Markus/Angst). Chapter 84/84, wc 613k. The free androids of Detroit start building their brand-new future, but peace is only relative in the troubled times that follow a revolution. Connor in particular has to learn to live with the guilt and horror that are slowly crushing him, and making friends isn’t easy with a past as murderous as his.

Long story (objective: 50k-100k words): AUs: - Pigments and Solvents (fluff/angst, humor, very gay - Connor/Markus, Chloe/North, Josh/Nines - College AU). Chapter 27/?, wc 84k. [last update: 25/09/2021] Markus is a flirty airheaded art student and Connor a very repressed science student and they end up tutoring each other. - Lucky Dog (angst, whump, sexual tension - Connor/Markus - Mob AU). Chapter 9/?, wc 32k. [last update: 18/06/2021] Connor is a henchman from a rival organization forced to join Jericho, and Markus has a great time tormenting him as the head of the group. Prequel: Blood and Diamonds (smut - Connor/Markus). Wc 5k. Mob boss Markus messes around with his reluctant henchman Connor.

Medium-long story (objective: 20k-50k words): Canon compliant: - The Corset Vest (fluff, humor, very gay - Connor/Markus, Connor & Nines). Chapter 8/8, wc 25k. Markus comes across Connor wearing a corset vest and gets an android nosebleed from the sight. - The Big Sad Monster And The Brave Little Girl (whump, angst, hurt/comfort - Connor & Alice, Kara/Luther, Connor/Markus). Chapter 9/9, wc 34k. Alice's family returns to the U.S.A. where she encounters the repentant deviant hunter... and they both get into big trouble. For the Reverse Android Whump Big Bang.

Medium story (objective: 10k-20k words): Canon-compliant: - The Android Son (fluff/angst - Hank & Connor). Chapter 6/6, wc 19k. A series of father-son moments. For the Hank & Connor Father Son Big Bang. - “I like dogs.” (fluff - Hank & Connor). Chapter 6/6, wc 14k. Connor learns how to pet, play with, hug and comfort Sumo. - BAD END (heavy angst, whump - Connor/Markus). Chapter 5/5, wc 13k. A depressing alternate timeline to Good morning, Lieutenant. Someone dies and the others are left behind to mourn. For the Android Whump Big Bang. - Out of Left Field (whump, hurt/comfort, fluff - Connor/Nines, Hank). Chapter 7/7, wc 23k. Connor finds out that Nines has feelings for him and it's difficult for him to accept.

Markus had kept hidden his omega gender but deviancy is causing heats and ruts everywhere... - Down the road we go (fluff, humor - Connor & Sixty & Nines & Hank - Human AU). Chapter 3/3, wc 10.9k. The Anderson brothers find themselves on a road trip back home. Nolfalvrel's gift for the Human Fluff Gift Exchange. - Hot Apple Cider (recovery whump, angst, hurt/comfort - Connor & Markus, can be read as Ship or Gen - Box Boy AU). Chapter 3/3, wc 11k. Connor's trauma threatens to ruin his and Markus' holiday cheer. Prequel: Things Don't Work That Way. Chapter 2/2, wc 6k. Markus is shocked by the extent of Connor's conditioning.

Short story/Oneshot (objective: <10k words): Canon-compliant: - I eat denial for breakfast (fluff/angst - Connor & Hank). Wc 2.4k. Connor has trouble with his feelings and Hank tries to help him. - I could learn how to bake a cake (fluff - Connor & Hank). Wc 1.7k. Hank finds a surprise in his kitchen on the morning of his birthday. - I, too, could learn how to bake a cake (fluff/angst - Connor & Nines). Wc 2k. Nines is looking out for Connor. - Remanence (horror - RK900). Wc 1.4k. RK900 is faced with the possibility that its predecessor might not be completely gone. - Phcking Terminator (angst, sort of creepy at the start - Gavin & RK900). Wc 4.5k. Gavin gets his ass beat by RK900 in a Post-Bad Ending context. - Just a prank bro (fluff, humor - Connor & Nines & Sixty & the DPD, Simon/Sixty). Wc 3.8k. An RK prank war happens and Simon calls Sixty out on his distasteful behavior. - Ferris wheels are romantic, right? (hurt/comfort - Markus/Connor, Jericrew). Wc 4k. Markus discovers at the top of the Ferris wheel that Connor has a fear of heights. - Just A Nightmare (hurt/comfort - Kara/Luther & Alice). Wc 1.5k. Luther's guilt festers even at night but Kara and Alice know how to comfort him. - Prompt (hurt/comfort - Connor/Markus): "Connor,,, is not great at showing affection, but one day when he feels overwhelmed (from snow, a difficult case, etc.) he goes up to Markus and gives him a hug."

- Just gonna break it a little (whump - Nines & Connor & Gavin). Chapter 2/2, wc 7.7k. Nines gets kidnapped and tortured, Connor and Gavin find him. - Dogs or Cats (humor, sexual tension - Connor & Hank, Nines/Gavin). Chapter 2/2, wc 4.6k Connor and Nines have a debate and then Hank and Gavin get involved to some degree. - Message received five minutes ago (humor, some angst - lots of characters). Chapter 5/5, wc 4.9k. [Discontinued] A chat fic in which the Jericrew and the DPD have some moments that wildly vary from feelsy to shenanigany.

AUs: - A Tale from the Great Scales Canal (angst, horror kinda - Jericrew, Markus/North, Markus/Connor). Wc 5.8k. Human Markus finds himself charmed by an underwater beast of legend. - The Three Little Werewolves (whump, fluff, humor - Hank & Connor & Nines & Sixty - Supernatural Creatures AU). Chapter 1/1, wc 5k. Local dadman Hank somehow adopts three werewolf kids. - Gliding On A Broken Wing (whump, angst, hurt/comfort - Connor/Markus, Nines & Chloe, Gavin at some point - Ice Skating AU). Chapter 2/2, wc 6.6k. [Discontinued] Connor loses his biggest competition to Nines because of a serious injury, and the two brothers struggle to recover.

..Listen. Nidoking is only like 4′11″. I’M taller than Nidoking and I can guarantee 100% that Giovanni is taller than Nidoking and Nidoqueen.

Rhydon is only 6′3″, that’s about around the same height I usually see Giovanni being, but that’s just my opinion. Rhyperior would be taller than Giovanni, but only by a foot. 7′10″.

Tyranitar is 6′7″. Not really that much taller than a lot of people, but yeah, for what the guy in the video was saying: It SHOULD be taller than a child.

but then he goes on to talk about Wailord.

in the post game of U/sumo you have the bosses using legendary Pokemon that! Oh! Surprise, surprise! they’re TINY compared to what they should have been. But you didn’t really hear much of people discussing that much when it was out. Not to mention that Wailord in a LOT of previous Pokemon games had to be made smaller because it was just too big for the games to run smoothly, and Yeah, sure. the switch can handle it, but still..

all this is just ridiculous. be happy they’re even still giving us a game despite all the hate and crap they’re getting right now from the wild rabid fans.

What stands out from this is I like villian/protag ships too much and also that I like subordinates pining for their bosses.

Giovanni- My NOTP for themNot a NoTP, but I’ve never understood the appeal of Cyrus/Giovanni. I honestly can’t even see them getting along as acquaintances. - My BROTP for themI don’t see him as particularly close enough with anyone to consider him having a bro. Giovanni/Archer years down the line could be interesting if Giovanni came to view him as an equal. I can at least see them as drinking buddies who commonly meet to exchange information. - My OTP for them I don’t ship him strongly enough with anyone to consider this an OTP, and it’s certainly not my OTP for Red, but Red/Giovanni is the ship involving Giovanni I’d be most interested in seeing content for (and actually considered for a bad end alternative ship in the omegaverse AU). - My second choice pairing for themDelia/Giovanni is interesting as well, since I like the theory of Giovanni as Ash’s father. - My fluffy pairing for themGiovanni and fluff? Unlikely. SuMo changed my perception of Colress enough that I wonder what that guy was doing teaming up with Ghetsis. - My OTP for them Any awful one-sided angst ship with him. Honorable mention goes to Ghetsis/Cress since it was the one I made canon in my next gen au - My second choice pairing for themI don’t think I’ve ever seen content of it, but Hilbert/Ghetsis is another angst ship I want to see more of, particularly in how N would react to the whole thing. - My fluffy pairing for themMaybe Colress/Ghetsis? If only because it’s the only ship that’s not overwhelmingly awful for the other half.- My angsty pairing for themN/Ghetsis because of all the horrible potential around it- My favorite poly ship for themMaybe Ghetsis with Cress, Chili, and Cilan? They’re the Shadow Triad in my headcanon, so why not take advantage of all of three at once. Or Ghetsis/N/Hilbert for maximum angst points in some kind of Team Plasma wins AU. - My weirdest pairing for themGhetsis/Cress since even going with the idea of him as a member of the Shadow Triad, it’s still pretty out there.

Lysandre- My NOTP for themNone. - My BROTP for themLysandre/Sycamore. Since in my own hearcanons, Lysandre really did view him as his dear, closest friend. - My OTP for them I’m a weak fool who gets caught up in my own AUs, so Calem/Lysandre. It’s telling that whenever I think of alternative storylines, I pair Calem with Lysandre and not Tierno, despite that being the endgame ship I went with. - My second choice pairing for themLysandre/Sycamore since I do really like this ship as well - My fluffy pairing for themLysandre/Sycamore has the easiest time ending up fluffy. But in general, Lysandre doesn’t go well with fluff. - My angsty pairing for themLysandre/Alain. Alain was a little too eager to please in those anime episodes and it gave me ideas. - My favorite poly ship for themLysandre/Calem/Sycamore. I’ve actually thought about this one extensively as the route things could have gone had Lysandre lived. - My weirdest pairing for themCalem/Lysandre since I’ve seen a very minimal amount of content for them (and believe me, I’ve searched for it)

Guzma- My NOTP for themNone. - My BROTP for themGuzma/Plumeria.- My OTP for themDue to pixiv giving me the idea, Elio/Guzma (or Sun/Guzma depending on what you want to call the male protag)- My second choice pairing for themGuzma/Lusamine was my preferred ship when I first played the game due to that angst potential. - My fluffy pairing for themGuzma/Elio actually ends up being pretty fluffy overall, due to the SuMo protags being good at warding off angst- My angsty pairing for themGuzma/Lusamine. I have a really hard time seeing it ever working out long term (plus I feel it’s very one-sided on Guzma’s part), but the idea of Lusamine reciprocating to play with him is good angst potential. - My favorite poly ship for themThis isn’t a serious ship, but since Sun and Elio end up being two characters in my AU (since one is a Faller from the USUM timeline), Sun/Guzma/Elio as the ultimate hot twin fantasy would be amusing. - My weirdest pairing for themGuzma/Elio because talk about out of nowhere.

Lusamine- My NOTP for themWhile it probably makes me seem like a hypocrite since I was all for it with Ghetsis, I don’t care for her with either of her kids. - My BROTP for themLusamine/Wicke. There’s a reason I hearcanon Wicke being the main one to take care of Lillie and Gladion once Lusamine started to deteriorate - My OTP for them Lusamine/Guzma is the ship I like the best involving Lusamine. - My second choice pairing for themLusamine/Mohn is good too and it’s sort of sweet how her going down the wrong path started from her trying to save him. - My fluffy pairing for themLusamine/Mohn (not that they don’t have their share of angst).- My angsty pairing for themLusamine/Guzma (since this pair is nothing but angst).- My favorite poly ship for themMaybe Lusamine/Wicke/Mohn?
