Groovy Cascade of ಸಂಪಿಗೆ, ಮಲ್ಲಿಗೆ .. [2b / 2]

Flowers draped over the tile roof of a newly inaugurated temple, near Madikeri, KA.

Quiet fascinating how this sequence of four images shifts the aimpoint by just a tiny little bit, and yet changes the emphasis of each image quite substantially, so much so that every one tells a completely different story. The garlands are still there, but the emphasis in this one are the tiles and how they are set.

Kawakawa innovation: NZ researchers to trial beverage for immunity, metabolic health gains

Kawakawa innovation: NZ researchers to trial beverage for immunity, metabolic health gains

Kawakawa (Piper excelsum) is traditionally used by the indigenous Maori for medical purposes such as pain relief, alleviating eczema, and rheumatism. It is also used as a spice in the everyday cuisine.
Researchers at the Liggens Institute, University of Auckland, have been studying the plant for years and their project was recently granted nearly NZ$1.3m (US$949k) by the High-Value Nutrition…

For Valentine’s Day, we decided to go to the Sakuya Konohana-kan. A botanical garden! It hosts one of the biggest greenhouses in the world.

I also happened to find out “Sakuya Konohana” (咲くやこの花) is a line from a poem found in the Kokin Wakashu anthology:

“On the shore at Naniwa
O, blossoming blooms!
Long cloaked in winter
‘Now spring has come!’
O, blossoming blooms!”
Credit: www.wakapoetry.net

Essentially, it refers to it being the time in which the plum blossoms bloom.

Sadly we didn’t take advantage of the Valentine’s Day activity there! In hindsight, I would’ve liked to. However, we pretty much rushed in and were too busy pointing and saying how amazing and beautiful everything looked, in absolute awe!! 😂❤️
