I have seen you talking about Dick & Dami's relationship and Dick & Tim as well, but what are your takes on Dick and Jason actually?
Like how you wish their relationship should be portrayed today and where are them missing when it comes to making those two acting like siblings?
Do you think in the past their dynamic was better?
How Dick views Jason and how Jason views Dick?
This is difficult to answer because there are like 8 different stages to Dick and Jason's relationship with various dynamics. They also view each other a bit differently depending on which stage we're talking about.
The way I would like their relationship to be portrayed today isn’t necessarily possible thanks to Jason’s integration into the family and acceptance of the no killing moral code. For me, their ideal dynamic is portrayed in Outsiders #44-46. And I know people are gonna find that regressive as hell but, tbh, that dynamic is far more interesting than the kinda awkward thing they have going on now.
Although, I don't mind that they acknowledge their brotherhood in a serious manner now. Like before they'd kinda be like, "Eh... I mean... we were adopted from the same guy but... brothers? Eh..." And now they're more firmly in the, "We're brothers," camp. So that development is interesting.
Character progression wise, it wouldn't feel right for for them to be super close in the way that, say, Dick and Tim are (unless we saw a lot of trust and relationship building between them), but at the same time, there is part of me that kind of wants them to have that older sibling bond (except Jason is closer in age to Tim than he is to Dick sooo actually let's just leave older sibling things to Dick and Cass... not that Cass is much older than Jason though so LOL this is why Dick has to lone the oldest sibling thing by himself... which is funny because Dick is technically no longer the oldest sibling, he's a baby brother now... except Dick and Melinda's relationship really hasn't progressed much sooo you could say they share blood but don't consider each other family yet, in which case, Dick is still the oldest... I mean, regardless, Dick is the oldest sibling of the Waynes... god why did they have to make all of this so difficult 😫).

How did rufly stop being about lily getting out of her world to do the things she actually wants to do with rufus and start being about rufus staying at home and trying to fit into lily‘s world. Why didn’t she start pursuing her photography, something I had completely forgotten about before rewatching because it’s not mentioned after season 1?? Why did lily start turning into her mother when it came to her children instead of fighting back against that and trying to break the family trauma cycle?? Ik that this is just a part of gg stopping to be about getting out of the UES world and start being about trying to get inside… ugh

I was talking to someone I got a t.mkz ship over on discord about how Tomoya's vision might have given Kazuha nightmares with constant vivid hallucinations of them.
This idea coming from the Childe flashbacks the traveler gets when keeping his vision. Kazuha going through something similar, having dreams of their last moments BEFORE the duel, even old memories that the two shared. A constant reminder of the friend he lost and seeing everything replay every night yet he won't let go of their vision no matter how much this affects his mental health.
We did add to the mix the thought of hallucinations haunting him. A mix of his poor mental health + depriving himself from sleep to the fear of the nightmares + immense guilt. Something similar to this comic.
This concept is something I want to add to my portrayal or even play around with those close to Tomo if they ever get to their grave and touch their vision.

Might be a hot take but a major character’s death is really only as good as the weight and the treatment that the narrative gives it. Sure, any author has the ability to write death as they see fit. But whether the consumer (of any given form of media) is actually able to emotionally connect and resonate with the departure of someone who has occupied a good chunk of narrative space very heavily depends on how it’s treated within the story. If it’s a major character, the narrative needs enough built-in breathing space. As in, the consumer doesn’t have to fill in the blanks as to how the death impacted the plot or the remaining characters. Let the narrative do that for them, and that would actually allow the consumer to better react and relate to that major death (sadness, anger, joy, etc). Allow the rest of the characters (who were impacted by the deceased) to react to their parting. Let them engage with the death in a manner that helps justify the character’s inclusion in the narrative to begin with. Make it clear how the character’s life and (especially) their death relate to the larger themes of the story. Because most consumers aren’t stupid. We don’t want our hands held at every waking moment, but we also don’t want our investment in a story to be insulted just for the sake of a cheap shock. Give us time to breathe and grieve. And respect that we have put in a lot of emotional investment in a story and its characters, and we deserve to have that acknowledged.

no but like it's truly an atrocity that no one in fandom ever talks about the iconic tvd 5x14 moment where denzo go on a sexy husbands killing spree, enzo refuses to abandon damon, damon feeds on a hot farmer guy whose wife cheated on him for a pharmacist (settling denzo's little bet lmao) and it's the moment where damon is the sexiest/most interesting he's been as a character for the run of the show. and also the denzo banter + imagine dragon's radioactive playing in the background like. that scene was *chef's kiss* it deserved applause and awards and SOOOO so much. season five damon salvatore & enzo st john you will always be famous

me while writing: Am I making this too dark? Am I being too much of a downer for continuously pointing out all the sacrifices Simon has to make in order to be with Wille and how he’ll never be his equal? Is my overall portrayal of Simon’s experience as a future prince consort too pessimistic considering that the irl parallels I’m drawing from happened well over a decade ago so at least some things should have improved since then?
reader: this is very sweet and-- though unrealistically optimistic--wholesome
